Good feedback. I'm trying dry hatch currently and wanted to see a real life example of absolute dry incubation/hatch.

I literally had better results with the dry hatch.

THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATIONAL VIDEO! it makes sense because a chicken lays the eggs and its only a wet egg for a period of time and if the eggs truly needed water they would be damp from the hen laying on them but that doesnt happen because the feathers and area they lay in wick the moisture! smart!

I tried a dry hatch because of an awful incubator (cheap, knock-off)... I put 12 eggs into the incubator. I tried to keep the humidity at 50-60 percent humidity and 99.5 deg. F. The temp was always low, the humidity was always far too high at 75%. This incubator has no humidity vent. smh. So, more than half the incubation was dry and by dry I mean like 24% humidity because that's the humidity in the house. 11 of my chicken eggs were fertile and developing. Only 2 survived. Day 18 I made sure the humidity was high but it tended to be too high around 80% because - stupid incubator. One of the survivors I had to help out of the shell because it was shrink-wrapped. Awful. Awful experience. I do NOT recommend dry hatching UNLESS you already live in a more humid environment with 50-60% relative humidity IN YOUR HOUSE. Please don't dry hatch if you live in the desert with humidity below 40%. It's heartbreaking.

I can't imagine how that was for you 😢 I am sorry.
I just got six little peepers over the past couple days. I think I will stick to the humidifier. Thank you for the advice. 💕

I’m doing a complete dry hatch on some Polish, Silkies and Rhode Island Reds right now. Day 19 today and so far so good. 36 out of 41 are good to go and on lockdown now

Did your next round of eggs using the dry hatch method have a better hatch rate? Very interesting!! Keep up the good work!!

Yes, I had one of the best hatch rates ever with the dry hatch.

    Audio too low.

Wouldn’t it be 9 out of 20? 45% hatch rate?

    • @tehaleks
      @tehaleks 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

64%, they had 14 viable at lockdown. 14/20 would be 70% development rate, 9/14 is 64% hatch rate.

Did you check the last 5 that didn't hatch to see how far they developed or if they were just not fertilized? Thanks.

Yes ma'am I did. I'm guessing they passed in the last week of incubation. I wish I could get my % up🤷‍♂️.

I have a question. Does the incubator rotate the eggs by itself? This my first time

Yes, both of my incubators have egg turner's in them. It's a LOT better than having to open the system 3 or 4 times a day.

hello why are you put something on the incubator

    • @redneckin...77

Good question... it helps to put a light hand towel or wash rag on top to help keep the temp good and that also prolongs the life of your heater. For example, if the temp stays where it should. The heater doesn't have to run as much... as if the temp goes down faster when the towel isn't there. It's just plastic. Not as good as the bigger well insulated incubators are.
