- My new fluval roma 240 has finally arrived!!! I'm going to show you step by step how i set up my new fish tank! I'll show you how I built the cabinet, what I use for substrate, how to clean the gravel, how to connect the fluval 307 canister filter, how to add the hardscape and how to add plants!

Spider wood = Redmoor wood. Also, there's no such thing as too much hardscape when it comes to aquascape since not all of it would usually go in... forgive if this is mentioned later but I guess you have done reasearch on sieryu on what it does to water parameters. If not, then I would definitely look into this even if its just a hardscape tank but even more so with planted for that relationship between co2 stability and hardness
Thank you for clarifying the name! I don’t know where spider wood came from 😂 and thank you for pointing out the effect that seiryu has on the water. I was aware that it hardens your water but I didn’t realise it has an effect on co2 stability. I’ll pin your comment so others can see
@ScoobzNPetz You didn't have to do that dude bit I appreciate you helping others out with that. And yes anything that affects Kh can have this affect. I've been doing a lot more research myself recently as I'm going with co2 injection on my 3rd tank

I'm waiting for this tank, it won't take long but the anxiety is killing me, so I've watched this video like a dozen times already just to cope. It'll arrive in three more days and I think I'll watch it a lot of more times😂. One of the few videos that actually let me see each part really. Not just some guy showing the fish and talking.

Thank you! 😁 and what filter do you have for yours? Upgrading the filter can fix cloudy water or maybe you have a few dead spots in the tank where debris builds up?

So interesting I’m torn between fluval 200 and fluval 240 but one is internal filter other is external I’m not sure what’s best. If I go for external will I always have to get an external filter?
External filters are always better than internal filters in my personal opinion, so if you’re gonna go for one I’d say go for the 240 that already comes with the external filter. It’s very unlikely that you’d downgrade from an external filter to an internal one.

Interesting how the filter works from the bottom of the tank though. I'd be worried about it leaking !! (Just figured if anything leaks around the base where the holes are, it would literally drain the whole 200+ litres out !!)
I assume it's completely watertight in your setup & you didn't have any problems ?

And yes when I first heard about the filter attaching from the bottom I felt a bit uneasy but it’s completely watertight and haven’t had any problems so far.

Did you use the heater that it comes with? Or do recommend upgrading?
I'm using the heater it came with and it seems to do a good job. You can upgrade if you want a more fancy heater like a digital one but I don't think its necessary.
How much water treatment did you use? Can you guide me for it. Thanks
The amount you need to use depends on the size of your aquarium. There are instructions on the back of mine. What size aquarium do you have? And what water treatment are you using?
@@ScoobzNPetz 240L tank I wanted Malawis and since been advised not to buy AquaBasis just use sand and been told to not use Live plants which I’ve bought 😂 as they eat them and make a mess.

If I was you I would purchase a wave maker to add to your left side to get some surface movement as your fish will love it & grease the ring on your canister when you have to finally clean it with Aqua one silicone lubricant.
Can't wait for it to cycle & the fish are in & where Lily stakes her claim 😂

@@ScoobzNPetz Try the extra caves & see what you think, if your worried about dead spots alot of people with sand add 2 in one on opposite sides so the tanks getting hit from all area's. I have my nozzles heads at the top, the back one facing straight across which pushes pressure around the tank & the front one facing upwards to hit the surface for movement.
When you brought those cultured plant's did they say what lighting they like, as some don't need alot & others do.

@@ScoobzNPetz Yes when your able to see about wave maker's, what slows the pressure is the bends on the tubing going from canister into the outlet's, I have it & my hubby wants to put them straight but loose enough so there's no strain to the canister & to do it, it's either emptying the tank or getting rubber sucker's to block the holes to the 2 tubing's inside.
Yes definitely looks into tank lighting on your plants as to much or to less can kill them & it would be a shame just adding them.
@@ScoobzNPetz Went out today to local aquarium, as he as 8 tanks & knows his stuff. Come back home with a double layer of poly filter to put over gravel & grey sands going in tomorrow. He said the gravel will still give bottom flow & will not rise to the top & thickness of sand won't give off gas exchange.
