Personally I find 'The Actor and the Target' by Declan Donnellan, to be one of the best acting books I've ever read. And that's one that I'd highly recommend.

Absolutely! That was the main book I studied at drama school - Declan is terrific

The invisible actor by yoshi oida (who constantly collaborated with Peter brook). Brilliant focus on acting fundamentals from a non American & non European approach. Eye opening because he covers some aspects of how an actor prepares themselves & the space they work in, among other topics we might not even imagine to be important. There's also a big section on preparing the senses. Highly recommend it.

Valerie Clayman Pye’s UNEARTHING SHAKESPEARE is hands down the most accessible Shakespeare book I’ve ever encountered. Great actor tips and makes tackling the text super easy and clear.

I personally think Tony Barr acting for the camera is the best book for the beginner and a review for a professional.. This book makes acting so easy and understandable especially in film media 👍😘

I know this is an older video, but as another commenter pointed out, I'm surprised you left Caine's Acting in Film out. For sure, its focus isn't on technique, as much as it is technical advice, but it is still incredibly valuable for screen acting.
Also, IMO, one of THE best books ever written about acting is Mamet's True & False. The overarching premise is simple...
Focusing on feelings or mental states isn't a performers job. These things are impossible to control consistently. However, PHYSICAL ACTION can be, and from that, the illusion of a story can be illustrated. The life of a script (and character) is born out of action...nothing else.

I would replace Uta Hagen with Susan Batson's book. it's much more practical and clear but also inspiring.
You also need Larry Moss's book. Intent To Live. It is also very helpful and a process.
Thank you for the recommendation of the power of the actor.

My acting coach recommended Stella Adler's book, and also Jenna Fischer's autobiography An Actor's Tale. I devoured Jenna Fischer's book! It gave me so many crucial, helpful tips for me for beginning my journey.
