    thank u so much mijo, i live in Australia and i work as a mechanic, tomorrow i’m gonna swap the exactly same engine in the same model car, this is really helpful for me. It’s gonna be my first german engine replacement. You got a new suscriptor, thank you again!!

    Switching the E46 2.5 (factory motor) to the M54 3.0 is the greatest swap of all time. The maintenance is the same, it looks the same, fuel economy is almost same, but after all the work, you will be rewarded with an additional 40 brake horsepower!

    I like the way you show the initial unedited starting of the engine where you showed everything, it showed the leak and showed the correction.

    Damn you made that shit look super easy! What's with all these other dumb asses taking off the whole front of the car and removing a million things? That shit popped right out. No lift, in the street like the good ole days! Good work my man! Sucks for me, I got a manual so I need to drop the trans out to clear the input shaft. We'll see how this nightmare goes.

      True, I was trying to get it done as fast as possible, and the owner said he got the engine from a friend, so I assume it would be good.

    Dope video man! Im planning on replacing the engine on my 330ci washout pulling the trans . How did you get to the the trans bolts without dropping anything??

      @@Jbonly21 really?? So some e-torx flex head wrenches will get to all the bell housing bolts?

    • @Jbonly21
      @Jbonly21  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah for the most part, the hardest one is the one on the right side firewall. You break it loose with the torx socket, then use a ratcheting wrench with a flex head. I believe it’s a 10mm and 7/16 wrench fits into the torx bolts.

    I have a guy swapping an engine on my 330xi, he is saying be didn't know it was awd and he wants to charge another $1,000 for labor to essentially unbolt 2 cv axles and exhaust from what I see. What do you think?

    • @Jbonly21
      @Jbonly21  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha, that’s his fault for not knowing before hand, maybe meet him halfway.

    • @CyanMadness

      @JbP Garage That's what I'm thinking honestly. He did jave yo cut the exhaust because someone welded it so I think $500 extra is fair.

    quick question after removing the starter, now you have access to the torque converter bolts?? 3 of them right i am in a similar situation where the headgasket blew and I am trying to do the job my self with out dropping the transmission. Any tips on getting to the top bellhousing bolts. i think i have a little more room since my car is a 525i.

      You might find what you need in this video, yes you can now remove the bolts through the starter hole. Yes 3 bolts, I use a swivel head ratchet ranch for the top Bell housing bolts.

    Hi I’m about to do a swap on my 330xi I’m trying to not have to take out the transmission like you did. What did you have to unbolt under the car? I saw you did the exhaust and axles. Did you have to unbolt the driveshaft or anything else?

    • @Jbonly21
      @Jbonly21  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You do not have to remove the driveshaft, just the exhaust, motor mounts, axle, and unmount front differential from the engine.

      I see you marking the flywheel bolt location. Im lost on doing that. when moving flywheel and that shield to the new engine. Are you marking the crank at dead center and lining up the flywheel

    • @Jbonly21
      @Jbonly21  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@l82sk8 not really, you don’t have to be on TDC to line up flywheel wheel holes. Get one hole in sight, then use something like a hanger and try turning the torque converter tell they line up. The first one is always the hardest.

      No, but if yours is a awd, you will have to swap over your oil pan. That’s the only difference.
