Apple Mac Startup and Death Chimes

- From 1984, all the Macs that Apple released had various startup chimes depending on the Mac model and year it was released. As of today, the startup chime still exists in the newest Apple Macs such as the 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019), and it has been muted by default since 2019.
The death chimes from 0:30-0:53 sounds like those intercom things you'd hear in a store tbh

I got a scary memory from when I was 8, we got our first Mac and I named it Lucy.
One night I woke up to use the bathroom, which was past the office room, and Lucy turned on by herself. I wanted to play but was scared I'd get in trouble so I scolded her " Lucy go to sleep right now" the death chime and frown played and she turned off.
For years I forgot about this until I heard the death chime on a nostalgia compilation and that creepy memory came back. I like to think I was just dreaming, the idea that Lucy was sentient and has been sitting in my garage for decades freaks me out.
Dude, if that happened to me I'd lose my shit and freak out until my parents came lmao.
That reminds me of that Elmo toy I had that was possessed by a FRICKING DEMON. It was supposed to teach me the difference between bananas and apples, not tell me to kill people.
My father took the batteries out, still kept happening. Took out the battery compartment, still happening. Took out the speaker and the mechanism that moved the mouth, STILL HAPPENING. So he took it outside and burned it to dust.
I'm damn near 20 now and I still hate Elmo because of that.
One time, I turned on my Windows 7 and Windows Media Center came on automatically. It went to a black screen, a menacing whale sounding moan came in seconds later with the black screen. It sounded very angry and I screamed from the top of my lungs. I ran to my dad and made sure to close Windows Media Center every time my computer started. Then I got the Windows 10 update.
"Just you and me, Lucy. We're gonna show 'em, baby."
Nah probably just a power issue or a ram error or something related to that or it was probably a dream you had edit: that needs to be on a TH-cam unsolved

I've fiddeled with almost all of these systems since I was a kid.... I've always found the death chimes hysterical... especially the Nubus.

The last 3 death chimes are hilarious!!!! Imagine buying a mac and when it started up it crashed and made one of those fail sound like noises! And also the last 3 startup chimes were almost the same as the final one that sounded like our currents macs

The Death Chimes from the LC on are absolutely horrifying to me. As a kid I remember trying to fix an old LC II when it suddenly made this sound and it has freaked me out since then.
Something similar happened to me. My grandfather was working on his computer and when he heard that sound he told me it was the bells of hell.

I've worked with the Powermac 8100 back in the mid-nineties. But I never heard that crash sound though. If there was a system crash, it would simply show the "bomb" on screen. I think you would only get that crash sound, if there was some hardware failure that would prevent the machine to boot up.
