Glad you were *transparent* about this 😄
Boo too corny. Lol haha
Boooooo
Thank you
Haha! Hilarious. Get out

I was gonna make a transparency joke but *clearly* someone else has already done so, which is absolutely *criminal*.
Well I'm glad that you *saw through it*
why is that your pfp @@Wzeyisbacklmao

so, you're jailbreaking it?
Pretty much 😅
👈🏻👈🏻😉
Clearly 😂
zLol
This brings memories of Techmoan's videos on American jail tech.
Hey, I was one of the first to document YPbPr modding this specific set. I recommend checking out my twitter thread on this mod. The device is missing a few components, like load resistors for proper 75 ohm attenuation, diodes for esd protection, and ac coupling capacitors. These components were present on other models with the same chassis using component input, but not on this model. I ran my first prison CRT without the extra components; it worked for a little bit, but then the main SoC died. I would advise adding these components to prevent it from dying. DC, bais, static, hot signal, etc. I also discuss how to add audio, other solder points for ypbpr, and ways to have both component video AND the digital tuner present, changeable with a toggle switch. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!
now all you gotta do is connect the prison laptop to do some real gaming

This setup needs one more thing. Some neon lightning inside
Yes!
Cold cathode would work as well.
@@Kara_Kay_Eschel this may be looking better
@@vasekcz230 use clear command hook adhesive strips for the cold cathode on the inside wherever the user likes.
Yeah has to be neon can't be RGB lights
You should mount additional RCA inputs for sound as well! 😉
Yes! I'm suprised he missed that.
I was waiting for the audio part as well!
Nah, easier and better to just plug a pair of PC speakers into the PS2's sound cables directly. The audio amps and the tiny monaural speakers in these things aren't worth considering.
Considering transparent electronics has been my _aesthetic_ since the 1990s, it feels like a sin that such gear was not available for the general public.
Honestly, if I ever install a CRT into my office, I would absolutely opt for one of those prison CRTs
Must have been uncomfortable for the guy who smuggled this out
When you leave you can either donate it to the prison's loaner program or you can ship it out or you can just lug it. you smuggle things in, not out.
was just about to mention that.
I think Techmoan did a video about the US Prison approved tech. Even cassette tapes had to be completely transparent, and not held together with screws!
Stop Drop & Retro made a mysterious disappearance from TH-cam for a long time and he came back.... to review a prison handheld console. Coincidence? I think not.
Haha! Screws. Prison. 😂
What a great combination with the transparent Apple II, I am amazed! Seen these CRTs now in several videos on the TH-cams, and the more often I see it, the more I actually want one myself. Not that I would need another CRT per se, but ... 😅
Apparently, they weren't too popular in retail, and soon "Reduced to Clear". 😜
Now, find a way to install a Pi inside that TV, and you'll have a quite unique looking all-in-one for retro-gaming and emulation.
Yuck emulation lol. I mean if this guy has a CRT it’s likely he has some real games lying around
At least suggest a Mister FPGA...
It's a good thing this guy is transparent about how he does his projects.
WHOA! I bought one of these for my own clear, stealth IIGS build! I had looked at the schematic for this TV and saw the jungle chip has RGB inputs, but I haven't tackled this project yet. I already got the GGLabs IIGS video converter and some component video input jacks so I'm all set! I doubted it would be this easy, but I'm glad I haven't gotten to this project yet as you've saved me a lot of time and trouble!
Neat
Nah one like one comment rlly
Clearly onto a winner
That final setup was downright arresting 😅
Oooh. I need one of those adapters for my IIgs.
Nice to see a fellow IIGS owner. There are dozens of us!
You should tape a plastic bag filled with flour to the inside!
I probably would have used a better shielded wire to move those components leads. Component video was one of those things where the cable quality made a huge difference.
This is clearly going to be an epic build!
How is this epic?? He didn't build nothing, all he did was added hardware, but still doesn't have a source button. Clearly you know nothing about prison TV's.
Now all you need to complete the setup, are the transparent prison spec KOSS Headphones/earbuds, a transparent wedge mouse, a Transparent Joystick, and some transparent speakers 🙂
Also the gaming transparent prison laptop from Bringus
@@SMTahmid Yeah but without extreme hacking which I think might be beyond his skill, there's not much you can do with them.
@@CommodoreFan64 we can always hope for a collaboration!
Clear chassis electronics look so cool,I just wish these came in HD resolutions so it wouldn't make that 15kz tinnitus sound that ruins CRT TV's for me.
There is a clear prison LCD tv with HDMI.
that problem will soon be solved by age :)
I know someone who still has their 15" HD lcd flat screen tv (by cleartunes) with clear koss headphones lol
This is EXACTLY the kind of awesome content that keeps me a happy Patreon supporter. Nice work on this!
When you’re at prison, nothing can go wrong when you think twice about it.
Unless you're a California kiddy diddler, then everything can and WILL go wrong 😂
Yes, please, more transparent hardware. I loved those 2000s with transparency in everything
Now we need the matching speakers & mouse.
It was kinda neat as just another TV hack video. But once you set it atop the clear Mac, then I was in love.
2:36 Dr. Evil approves.
A touch of clarity for today’s mod
7:45 i love you
Wish I had these in the 90's. Love the transparency.
I absolutely love the asthetic of the apple ii with the clear crt. Bravo.
Also, I am hecking jelly of that that all clear Apple ][ setup
So glad to see this, since I have this exact model of prison CRT collecting dust in the back of my office. Going to give this a try myself VERY soon!
And it worked! By the way, if your CRT has a speaker (or I guess if you want to use the headphone jack) you can wire up an audio input in exactly the same way.
3:02 he is a builder 🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂😂
That monitor case is in excellent shape. Somebody loved that little guy.
Very cool setup! I've always loved see-through cases for anything.
The end setup was epic!
Its very clear to see how this TV works
This is Awesome!!! I've had one of these prison tvs for years but just never use it due to only having the cable in port. Being able to add component to it will be incredible!! Finally a good reason to pull it out of the closet
Love your clear setup. Looks dope 👍👍👍❤
The monitor and apple computer looks superb together.
As we know, PCB stands for Prison Clear Boxes. ;)
That setup at the end would be glorious!
He’s clearly very excited.
Not gona lie. I've wanted one of those things to shove a raspberry pi into (because it has composite out,) and have that as a retro-gaming setup. And because it is clear it fits the 90's perfectly.
There's also other things I'd want to see. Like if better speakers could be installed, do something to reduce or remove screen glare, and the ultimate blasphemy. Find a way to get RGB in that case.
Fantastic work. That is going to be an awesome Apple II setup. I'd love to get a UK model of prison CRT TV. That's a cool looking desoldering device.
That was a wild project.
Looking forward to watching a video about that glorious setup 🎉
Clear CRTs: something I didn’t know that I needed in my life! Much to my excitement (and my wife’s detriment) when I finally find one and bring one home! Lol
This is glorious!
Please share what part you used for the stand, I can’t find one taller than 4” to reproduce your project!
Help me Obi-Wan… where is the monitor stand from?
The wine is coming through over your mic
I'm glad you cleared any hurdles and was able to do this easily. :)
It would be really neat to see this prison tech excited with an open ended budget. Make everything clear! Including the PCB’s and all components including the wires. 😂🤣😂🤣 I guess it would be for high security inmates.
I was going to give up half way through this video but I saw it through to the end! Can't believe they have TVs! I thought they had to spend the days turning a handle on a friction box.
Great hack love that clear monitor looks great
At first I wasn't clear on your intent with this CRT, but then I was able to see thru your objective.
Im getting prison mike vibes from this guy.. the way he spun that tv has muscle memory from a decade of "keeping the cell clear".. that and the tattoos.
This was a fun little adventure, also makes me feel better about my lackluster soldering skills. Even the pros make mistakes sometimes!
The clear TV/clear GS combo would be perfect for some retro future sci fi movie.
Every time I hear you say shenanigans, I feel I need to go watch Super Troopers
Well “clearly” you were excited about this “criminally” good video.
Transparent everything is wonderful!
Yes the sequel to jailbreaking a jail laptop
Hell yeah, what a find of a model!
Damn, I'm having either a really emotional day or something, because at 4:56 I was like "awww man thats really sweet that he apologized to the DVD player" Good Night Sweet Prince o7 o7 o7 o7
This video's point is crystal clear....
Dave's Garage supports you? That's an honor.
Transparent and Stealthy it's Glorious! 🤪
That antenna looks more like you tagged some animals in the wild and are looking for them now ;)
I'd be tempted to add a connector for audio too
I can see through the puns on this video, this is clearly an educational channel
If you had to modify the firmware of this TV to enable the composite input, you could still consider that as 'hacking.' But otherwise, it's just a regular mod like many that were done long ago when the only input available on a TV was RF. Add an RGB input, and it will work beautifully, for example, with Amigas.
Design cues very much in the spirit of Apple there, with a little less colour!
well this explains where you are, pointy mac man
wish they still did clear/crystal versions of stuff like consoles etc. used to
Oh, the crime and (pun)ishment of the jokes we get at times. Clearly meant to be amusing... :)
Good video! That would go perfect with the Cursed Mac :)
This is neat, but will you set up any audio connections in the TV's board? It does have a headphone jack and a grill where a speaker would go...
I’ve always wanted one of these!
i’m calling the warden
It looks beautiful
Man, I wish more technology were transparent, it looks so cool.
I wish companies did made an option were you can have the option of transparent devices!
When i was locked up back in my using days, we had LCDs with honest to God composite input in addition to coaxial. There were these really cheap, knock off "game systems" that could interface. I heard thay once the pandemic hit, they were allowed to get some 16-bit era and maybe 32-bit era consoles shipped into the institution. That would have helped with near constant lockdown conditions those poor souls had to endure.
its much better than Macintosh TV.
It's so clear to me now!
How cool is that? Great video, thank you.
You can also get LCD prison TVs, some have component in. I always liked the clear plastic aesthetic, wonder why it wasn't more popular.
it's like getting a complete set of cosmetics in a video game
"right after quick word about today's sponsor.. PEECEEBEE WAY!!"
i literally said it out loud synchronized with action retro. lol.
Now we need Bringus Studios to come over and connect his prison laptop to this
Is that transparent Apple IIGS also a prison issue electronic?
one of the little reasons why im subbed is the bad puns xD
I would have just used a scalpel to cut 3 holes in the sticker in the back of the TV.
Yeah I'd like to see more clear plastic versions of a lot of tech stuff.
Can you make more videos?
Are there clear plastic versions of PCs and consoles?
You could make a series out of it.
prison laptop: nahh
Prison TV: Yeah
The clear Apple IIGS setup would be cool to see at VCFMW.
4:27 half life sounds
I always discharge the crt by shoving a ground wire under the cap before I play with it. They can store hv for years.
7:10 is especially scary.
My A+ instructor way back in the day had half his thumb blown off by touching under that cap without discharging.
I did briefly see him discharging the CRT.
I just think back to the time I replaced a flyback on an IBM monitor (1993 or 1994), and at the time I didn't know about the need to discharge the cap (at least I don't remember doing it). I can only presume the flyback had been bad so long that the CRT had discharged (or how I removed it didn't cause it to discharge). Dumb things you survive by sheer luck.
@@SenileOtaku
The flyback isn’t where the charge is. It’s in the tube itself, the connection under the red cup is where the fun begins.
