I am a big boy, for the other big backs out there, the thermal underwear are great for keeping warm if you are outside. However after walking and then going into an Academic building afterwards, shew they get toasty so just beware.
I grew up in the Midwest (Champaign/Minneapolis/Milwaukee) and people there do not immediately accept outsiders. You have to go through a kind of time test. Some people's initiation takes less time than others. Once you're in, you have a solid group of friends and then once other people see you are in a crowd, they relax and it rolls on from there---
Hey! This is a really good video. I am an incoming sophomore (just got done w freshman year) at uiuc. I am also in the process of figuring my way out to transfer into cs + econ/ cs + econ. I know your schedule might seem incredibly busy but I’d really appreciate it if I could chat w you sometime!
Answered in the new Q&A Video! Most grad students look for apartments slightly outside of campus or even get a house. Make sure you look at the reviews and get a tour of the house first if possible
if money isn't a problem and you want to live on Campus, def find an apartment in the Champaign side because some Urbana apartments are crusty asf. There are nice apartment complexes like HERE and SEVEN but pricy. But the apartments opposite lincoln ave in Urbana are pretty good and relatively close to campus.
Thanks Brian for the informative video. I am from Bay Area, California and visited the campus just 2 days ago. My daughter got accepted there for Data Science as Major and Computer Science as minor. She is also accepted in UC Davis for the same. If possible, would you compare and share your opinion? we need to decide between UC Davis and Urbana Champaign. Thanks
Hi, I got into both and will be attending Urbana Champaign for CompE. I’m out of state for both colleges, but in the end UIUC gave me a much better financial aid package. Either way, I would choose Illinois(it’s just better).
I plan on applying to UIUC as a finance major, just a quick question Is it possible to Take a minor and do part time jobs and still enjoy time at the uni
also i am a business undeclared major planning on doing entrepreneurship or finance at UIUC and if I go to UGA I am planning to do Business Administration. I am kinda stuck on what to chose mainly because UGA will be in state for me.
was the campus diverse? Do you think black students had spaces to be comfortable in etc. I’m considering going here to get a bachelors degree in computer science but i’m concerned about diversity. I don’t wanna be one of the only black students on campus haha.
Hi! Yeah I think the campus was pretty diverse, there’s a bunch of student orgs where you will def find people you mesh with. I remember filming a fashion show thing hosted by the black student union org called Cotton Club Week which was really cool, I’d check that out!
i got into UIUC for agricultural and biological engineering, but i want to go into environmental engineering. would you say i should go somewhere else or uiuc?
Usually only a handful of flights to Champaign and they have to go through ohare. In addition the flights get cancelled if there’s not enough people on them which leaves you stranded at ohare
Do you know anything about UT Austin? I am accepted to both uni and now very confused which one to take. It’s civil engineering graduate program, and I am an international student. Do you have any suggestion or recommendation to hep me deciding which campus?
It's nice to see someone talking about Champaign. Iv'e lived here my entire life and never once have I seen something like this. Thank you.
this is definitely helping me make my decision whether to accept the offer or not! thank you!
what major?
@@h1gh3xp_baby92 I applied to Computer Engineering but got admitted into the Computer Science major.
Coming to Illinois from Cali sheeshhh
UIUCs worth it
i’ve been wanting to go here ever since high school started for me, now i need two more years until i finish high school in so excited

So u didn't get into Berkeley/Caltech/Stanford. Just teasing :)
Cool video Brian
I plan on applying to UIUC to do my PhD at the Genomics Institute. Any advice on finding apartments for grad students?

I’m sure it’s possible, but it depends on what you mean by enjoy your time. I had 15 credit hours and a job and it was manageable/enjoyable
Oh, 50 or below, watch out!
I just got in and I need to figure out if im goin, its either UGA or UIUC... idk what to do

I don’t know much about uga but either way it sounds like you’ll be in a good college 👍
YO exact same, its either UGA or UIUC for me as well
im in the same situation this year, which did you choose?? 😭🙏🏼

Uiuc is a top environmental engineering school
When you say “transfer to CS,” what do you mean? Is CS in an upper-division school/program at UIUC (Ie like UCB Haas or UVA McIntire)?
No. It's just a major.
This is so helpful! Have you ever used WIllard? Also when does the snow start coming down?
I have, but it's not so reliable from Chicago and snow falls usually after Winter Break!
Which storage unit did you use and cost?
Why not just fly into Champaign airport..

@@BrianLoh that’s so wrong 😢
What bus did u take from Chicago to Champaign?
Peoria Charter is the most common and reliable.
see i just toured and really like this school but my parents are not so fond bc of the distance…fingers crossed i get in !!!
