    This particular passage is easy to read and finds the answers. So I can only say it's suitable for UCAT beginners to grasp the concept of skim reading etc. I wish all the paragraphs on the VR section were this easy! After all, there's a good reason why almost everyone's worst section is VR, closely followed by the DM section.

      True this technic does not work all the time. I took a few tests using this method (scan) and using the method of reading the whole passage. I scored higher every time I read the whole passage :-S

    I think something that improved my scores in verbal reasoning tests is reading the article as if I have no clue of the subject, throwing away all prior knowledge and systematically scanning for keywords.
    Now at least I don’t get tricked by some stupid cannot tell questions that plays on your favoring of any sentence that lean towards your prior knowledge of the subject or your common sense

    this felt so easy yet medify seems so hard. VR is my lowest by far :c

    • @avanzjp6831
      @avanzjp6831 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree, and same for me as well, VR was my lowest on medify practice questions and it was also the section I performed the worst when I sat my actual UCAT just three hours ago haha... But one thing I thought is that medify VR practice questions can have extremely long texts (like 700 words when in the actual test I think it was around 200-300 words) which will end up with you running out of time easily. So, I think for Verbal Reasoning questions, it might be better for you to take a look at practice questions on the official UCAT website or to take a look at Verbal Reasoning questions on the full 2 hour mock test on medify if you want to actually simulate the questions with time limit (those two sources have Verbal Reasoning questions very similar to the ones you see in the actual test in my opinion). But UCAT VR questions of the "practice" section of medify can still be very useful for improving your text related skills! (like improving reading speed, how fast you can catch important information etc)

    "Thus, there may be a disagreement in particular cases"
    surely this is 'cannot tell' as they have used 'may be' which doesn't confirm if they actually do or don't??

    • @naumansajid8630
      @naumansajid8630 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      question uses the word 'no' which is contrary to 'yes' or even 'may be'.

    • @terrytopliss3094
      @terrytopliss3094 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The statement says there is ' NO dispute ' . The fact there may be disagreement shows its false as there is potential for dispute , whereas the statement outlines there is absolutely no potential for dispute, there isnt and cant be dispute at all.

    • @erhan734
      @erhan734 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree with Rhea. The sentence says "there is no dispute" and the passage says "there may be disagreements". So it might also mean that there may not be a dispute as we don't know if there is fully contradicted ideas on both sides. So I would definitely say "cannot tell".

    • @its_not_lux
      @its_not_lux ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "For example, cystic fibrosis....", what is it an example off??? Read the line above. Since it's discussing Genetic disorders therefore cystic fibrosis is an example of that. It then further specifies it as a common recessive disorder, however it is still an example of a genetic disorder.

    This is a good explanation video of a sample verbal reasining test, thanks. However, I do not agree with your answer regarding the "no dispute" question. The sentence says "there is no dispute" and the passage says "there may be disagreements". So it might also mean that there may not be a dispute as we don't know if there is fully contradicted ideas on both sides. So I would definitely say "cannot tell".
