I'd like to see sports like football (soccer) or ice hockey where players are constantly crossing between the subject and the lens and are unpredictable in motion. Good to see this review though, thanks!
Very nice pictures! Looking forward to seeing more. It is amazing how good the eye AF works with far away subjects. I knew you needed this smoking hot lens!
This lens looks amazing , but would you suggest this lens for landscape photography? I was def thinking about getting the 70-200 but the reach of This Lens seems more functional! Thanks love the channel my man ! I shoot a6000 but gonna jump up to a full frame soon
a little off topic here.. I am going on vacation to Alaska, everyone says to take the most zoom you can. So I was planning on renting a 100-400 (with a TC just in case need more) for my A6500. Figured I'd get it for 3 weeks. 2 weeks for trip and 1 to fidget with it and learn it. My question, right now the only long lens I have is the 55-210 kit. Haven't used it much yet. I was thinking of getting the 70-200 F/4 or the 70-300. I have opportunity to get either one used for about the same money. I just can't decide. I do mostly vacation photos, some events at work, basic stuff. Part of me says the 70-300 will shoot better than I'm capable of and I should get that, then the next minute I'm hung up on the 70-200
Danny, you had a video with a light weight monopod you use that is very travel friendly and light but now I can't find which one it is. Do you recall the video or the monopod? Thanks
I this lens for about a year...very happy, but does fall short in some situations - focus freezes(using on the ar73 latest firmware) for no reason, also for smaller birds 400mm is just not enough. With birds you need to be over 1/2000 parts of a second, and if it's not really bright and sunny you need to boost the ISO too much(and loose the dynamic range)...hope a 600mm comes out soon...
Hopefully you respond to new comments on older videos but I do extremely high pace work and am having an issue where my 100-400 will not take the shot if I’m adjusting focus while hitting the shutter button. I can do that all day long with my 70-200 but I don’t understand why this lens doesn’t allow me to take a shot. Have you dealt with this?
I want to rent a telephoto lens for my son's baseball game, what is best choice in your opinion for my A7iii? Have you tried the 200-600, is it that too much zoom, 100-400 the sweet spot?
Please, please could you try IT on A6000. I am considering this lens for equterian jumping And i cant find any review with this combination. I know it sound like overkill for such a body but there is no native cheaper option with such a reach and secondly i will switch to FF in next 2 years so would rather build and buy ff lenses. The reason for test Is that a6300/a6500 have af somewhere between A7Rii And A7RIII So i think IT will work great as well but A6000 i am using Is older AF system. Thank you in advance as it would help me like really, really lot.
Hi, this is asif. It is bit irrelevant but I have to ask. is it possible to use shoe adapter on Sony A6000 and use canon or Yongnuo speedlight? I don not want to use it on sony directly as it may cause damage. Please review some accessory with adaptation and post some link where we can buy them cheap Thanks for your effort
also can you post a video recording some type of sports? i JUST WANT to see the quality the lens has before I try to find a way to buy it. I'm a videographer so I'm focusing mainly on video than pictures
hey man, great review. I have the 70 -200 g master 2.8 , now i realize I might took a bad choice since now i want to shot sports.... do you thing the 2x teleconverter will do? I mean the (video mainy) will remain? I shoot with a a7sii (only thing i've read is that with the 2x teleconverter you lose some speed stops but I don't know how it'll work in the moment). Should I buy the 2x teleconverter? or shoud I sell it and buy the 100-400? thanks in advance and great videos btw!
Still cannot impress me. I am doing a lot of wildlife and indoor sport shooting. This lens is for wildlife way too short and for indoor events way too slow. That's the problem with the Sony A9. Maybe an action camera but no lenses available.

Some of those pictures blew my mind... Damn it Danny, I might have to purchase this lens.
That G.A.S tho. It's awesome.
What's your experience with this lens at night?
what is the difference between one and two stabilization options?
wow. some of those photos were amazing!

would love to see you test it on BIRDS IN FLIGHT, thanks for a great video

Nice shots! Images looks clean. I don't shoot sports but it seems like fun with a great lens. 😃

Are you getting paid to do the sports photography. If so how do you go about getting the gigs?

Just wondering how silent shooting would have worked in this kind of situation/sport...
Which of these lenses has the best bokeh? 200-600 or 100-400
Can you take these types of photos with a6000.
Hey Danny. Have you had a chance to run this lens with the A6500 yet or any plans to do so? Excellent video btw 😀
I will test it on aps-c when I get the chance
Looking forward to that!
Yes I'd really love to see this on a6500 for sports photography & even video...
Makes me want to buy it for my a7riii. Great sample images!

What would this lens be like on a Sony a7ii? Loved the Review.
Which one would be better sony a6000 & canon 70d ?
70-200 GM or this for the only proper zoom lens in my kit? The other lens that I have is the 24-70 GM.
It's a tough choice. I think the 70-200gm is a great one to grab first, unless a lot of your shooting needs require this reach
My question is why not wait with this system until they have some long lens adapted lens suck.
this is not an adapted lens. this is a sony lens made for the a9
Is it possible to use this lens on the a6500? Or only full frame?
yes it its. its 1.5 crop, so it be like a 250mm - 600mm.. nice right. lol
Where is the followup of Nikon d500 mate?
I cant wait for CANON's full frame mirrorless
Great review. From a Canon fan^_^
Honestly I thought the depth of field really wouldn’t sell on the pro level. The 2.8 is much better or the 400 prime
Nice. I don’t think I have seen you this excited before.
I don't think so either.
just added the a9 to my bag and have been on-the-fence about this lens... not anymore. Thanks!
Good video bro
You use to be a librarian at palm avenue right
My Main MAN!
Bro u hav a little photo in your noise 😂
N i c e . . .
late to the party and try to jump on dance floor and show out...LOL
Lol

I don't like the Images tbh... Sorry my Expectations were high. like Jared Polin's Edits High.
I see you took this video at school? HAHA nice
Haha, benefit of getting to work really early. Had some time to get a video done.
that1cameraguy I mean, we could really use some more videos from you. Really miss your content and your smooth radio voice haha.
