  • Old Mapoon.. What a crazy story this is...
Sit and listen to the story and enjoy the journey as these two Warranggu Men, Jase and Eli take me around their traditional country in Mapoon , Far Northern Australia showing me all their traditional foods. Hunting everything from Mudcrab to Green Turtle in preparation for a huge cookup with the families.

Hi Nathan, can’t thank you enough for doing what you do. I know you see as a privilege to go to these places but it’s your audiences privilege to get to see them, otherwise we couldn’t. As a nearly 70yr old Australian I lived through the 60s and 70s when these stories were being swept under the collective rugs. Telling them is long overdue.
    Please keep it up.

No matter how many stories I hear , and I take time out of respect to learn and listen, but, no matter how many stories I hear of the stolen generation and the treatment of the original people of the land, that belong there and belong to the land, I cry. As a white Australian that was taught the white borders and ways… I had to completely relearn the real history and the real Australia and it’s nations and people, tribes, tools, ways of surviving, all much more practical and communal ways of living. Don’t get me started on Rio tinto! Or the white mining families! (Rinehart)

I have a similar story,I'm a New Zealand Maori, my name, the name my parents gave me is,Sydney Bonnie Stevens, my dad as a young boy 8 years old had to find work to feed his 6 siblings.
Forgive me I'm not sure what his first name was way back then,I only know his sir name as a Maori was Warakihi, they were told not to speak their native language, and he my father, was given the name John Richard William Stevens.
New Zealand Maori have come a long way,and I hope aboriginal tribe's all over Australia can individually stand proud and say this is our land.
And mate, wild reaches is giving these deserved aboriginal tribe's a chance to show the world, thankfully through your wild reaches channel, that aboriginal culture and cultural sustainability is something every Australian and me New Zealand Maori, and everyone around the world can be proud of.

Thank you once again you are a legend. Cook had rules about claiming Australia, one was signs of native development one of those was the bow and arrow in his log he records sighting Aboriginals carrying bow and arrow on the same Island where he stuck the flag.
So many things have been wrong ever since. Aboriginals if the truth be known could be in schools teaching language and culture and their history not just the last 200 years. No other country has a link to the last 65 thousand years there is so much we could share. Please keep going.

Totally enjoy the history and the wild fishing/hunting, great work.
A question I have is; by dwelling on the past of the treacherous things that have happened, will that make things better?
Do we look back at Japan bombing us here in Darwin and blame them from what their predecessors did to us?
I'm a Territorian, born in Larrakia, just like my ancestors, and I hate the fact that people are dwelling on the past. It's like they constantly want benefits. Time for them to grow the # up! It would be better for their mental health if people stop feeding this poor bugger me syndrome.
On another note, I love your content and how you inspire so many country men and kids to follow your passion. Awesome work.

    • @ryanmartin3907
      @ryanmartin3907 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

My advice, stop feeding the poor bugger me syndrome and make people realize that the current systems and reality of most good Australians is not the same as the predecessors. Living in the past is not healthy.

We have spent time with over a dozen indigenous cultures around the world and religion ruined their language, families, and cultures. Some of the sadest disgusting consequences I have seen. What a tragedy to destroy everything a culture has created for thousands of years. Thanks so much for sharing and helping educate Australians who have decided NOT to give Aboriginals a non-binding voice in the government. Continuing the horrible traditions of colonialization from the 1780s.

Can you ask the elders about the Tartarian's, who were a large group of people who lived very advanced lives here in Australia from about 10,000 years ago, much more than we do here today, they were the people who built the massive intricate buildings like the Flinders Railway station in Melbourne. There are over 1,000 similar buildings still used today right across the country. They are all super advanced and made of a sandstone type of material, and if you look at them, todays modern builders could never build them, yet history say that we built them with horse and buggy, no power tools lol.. The version of history as we have been taught in schools is all lies, soon to be corrected. I feel sorry for all those people who are about to be deeply hurt to learn our real history. Also research "Mud Floods" , be prepared for a shock.

You will find lots of it on here TH-cam, 10,000 buildings DONT lie.

There are some racist aussies that have a completely skewed and negative view on aboriginal people. Stuff like this is a great way to introduce some of them to the real culture.... racist are often just mislead and stuff like this can show them that these people they irrationally hate are human beings that love to fish, hunt and laugh with their families..... just like themselves.
