The Capsule Box - One of Ray Key's most popular boxes is the capsule box, shown in the video. The step-by-step sequence of turning a capsule box shows how to turn a box with matching grain and spigot type lid. Sanding, finishing, re-chucking and finishing the base is also shown. The remaining stock is used to show how to make a "coolie" box. This is a short, squatty box, with the lid shape similar to a hat.

A very informative video and well done.
However, the video reminds me of the old 16mm films I use to view in grade school during the 1960s with the speech patterns, lighting and colors used. It reminds me of times when things were more civil and pleasant. Thanks for sharing.

A wonderful video that I shall return to often....I too love making boxes of all kinds including those with threaded lids....my only observation is that you make me wince every time you put your finger/s inside a revolving box over the tool rest.... I knew a pro turner who dislocated his finger doing it.... I know, myself that these little moves become habits that we don’t think about, until they bite.
