When he said "You're the first girl I've touched in ages", and she burst into tears, I felt that. No words or exposition were necessary to convey what she felt.
Definitely one of the more nuanced portrayals of a trans woman I've seen in a short film. When you're actually out living as a trans woman, or trans person for that matter, it's not the spectacle of transitioning that shapes you the most. More often, it's the small, beautiful moments; those odd little interactions that let you see yourself in a new light. Even if they only last for a brief moment, it's those simple things that force you to see your own beauty.
Such a wonderful film. Beautifully layered and impeccably acted. Is it strange to say that one of things (and there are many) that I liked was the scene with Dawn getting on the bus? As a trans woman, I've been out and about, and ended up near a bunch of rowdy teens more than once. Almost every time, they've been polite, quietened down (for a minute) and shown themselves in a good light. The only downside being my age, where I now get called "madam". ;-) But, in all seriousness, I love the intersectionality of this film. We're all more complex than one-dimensional caricatures portrayed by some media. Keep up the good work, Jake!
@@JakeGrafFilms as an older (late bloomer) trans woman (51) I could relate to this girl. This film was very touching and profound. I definately shed a few tears. Well done.
@@JakeGrafFilms I came back again (to Find This, again) after 2 years. it *IS* very Very well done. There really *SHOULD* be a part 2, .... Moving and beautiful film ❤ Thank you you tube algorithm for bringing me here. Perfect acting, setting, music, highly nuanced. I wish, hope this film will open the minds, and hearts of those that hate trans women, trans people, a stupid wish maybe as there is so much hate, lies and misinformation being put about by the media, politicians, and so called personalities. I guess if this film only opens one mind, changes one bigots heart, makes one trans persons life easier, then its done a lot. Well done all involved in making, creating, acting in this film its a gem.
I've commented on your work before! Love how transportive this film is - introducing those of us who may be sighted/cis-/straight to ways of otherness that ultimately loop back to embrace us all. An open invitation for a more trusting, sensuous and feeling world. Thank you Jake!
I love the glimpse of hope, strength, optimism and the use of literal x figurative metaphor of the "eyes". Having it makes people blind to see the essence of a transwoman: a human who deserves to be treated fairly. I finished the movie feeling triumph, pride and tranquility. Just one thing, I am not a native English speaker, and it was difficult for me to hear some of what they said, so subtitles, please.
I've watched this several times a week since I first saw this. This is hands-down one of my absolute favourite short films of all time! Such a simple, yet powerful reminder of the power and importance of connections, no matter how brief or unorthodox in nature they might be. And I think this speaks to all, irrespective of being trans or not. Really well done to everyone involved, you all should be very proud! 👏🎬
Absolutely outstanding! Genuinely moving piece, truly beautifully shot, directed, acted and scored. Not to mention how utterly gorgeous Nicole is, Harry probably is too though in fairness.
Touching film, Subscribed! I'm disabled and trans; weird intersection. Partially paralyzed due to a stroke, but still started HRT. Finally understand this whole happiness and pride thing some people say they feel. Good to want to live after half a century of suicidal ideation. My wife is staying saying she "loves a person, not a gender". I am not worthy!
this film is very cool and motivating for transgender people.. I hope that the "trans" can live side by side with the people around, and not get discriminated against again amen.. I wish you success and good health, greetings from Indonesia
That was excellent, well done to everybody involved! I absolutely love short films at the best of times, especially unique stories and this one was exquisitely written. shot, acted and directed 🎬👏
When she stared at the rising sun I think I didn't expect to see such beautiful face and glistening eyes. You can see how much she's struggling by just looking at her eyes
havent seen such a poignant short film 4 ages. all preconceptions put aside and just 2 human beings connecting.tho a follow up would be nice, i guess the point is we don't need one
He knew, one thinks, what she was in her heart, in her essence. Also a lovely portrayal of disability. He's not helpless. He "sees" both her, and his environment, just differently to those with other senses.
i am kinda sad, jake hasnt uploaded for a while. he writes amazing characters. so simple and yet so much more depth than what these hollywood folks can come up with. i really felt that one too. just getting away from a horrible situation, running into a moment of acceptance...
@@JakeGrafFilms oh god sir, i never thought you'd reply to some random girl like me. you made my day! twice even haha. looking forward to your new work! i wish you success and best of luck! 😍

In my eyes it was a happy ending, because the woman got the guy's jacket, the guy was really nice to her, and the people on the bus gendered her correctly. Maybe that's just my optimism, but it could've been a sad ending
Besides basic knowledge about how blind ppl interact with others bieng very wrong (granted I don't know if it's stylistic choice or ignorance) I really loved this shortfilm was absolutely great and made me tear up.
first saw this film maybe a month ago and have probably watched it every day since. 73 year old cis cincinnatian. didn't enjoy reading short stories , and now see how powerful it can be to convey so much emotion in this film. Thank You to all who created this story

Yes- it was beautiful
She burst into tears? How could you not. It could be such a simple thing; a sentence, a single word, or a look, but the impact can be enormous.
