Man it’s crazy how Warner Brothers literally held back the actors career that played cyborg. He went from someone I didn’t care about to his character becoming my favorite and his relationship with his Dad got me a little emotional at times while watching the movie. His performance was on point I hope he gets other opportunities. I also love how darksied was just as scary as thanos while not being a thanos copy. If DC Is smart they will let Snyder complete his vision. Also this is good for marvel because competition forces you to be your best. This was a masterpiece.
This was Operatic that belongs on stage at Lincoln Center. As soon as the John Romita Jr designed Steppenwolf dropped in on Themiscyra, I screamed, "METAL!!!!!!" at my TV. I'm guessing, Zach pitched Bruce and Lois getting involved after Superman died because Bruce caused Clark to snap and Lois died (probably caught in the cross fire). Thus the Knightmare timeline was created. Now I understand why Ray Fisher was so pissed at Joss Whedon. In the Snyder cut Cyborg was the center piece while Joss Whedon diminished the impact of his role to just stoic stares. While not on the level of the Dark Knight or Winter Soldier, this was definitely a ground rule double that could be stretched into a triple.
Exactly, it seems like Flash and Cyborg were properly represented in the movie. And that's the Superman I want in movies from here on out, the guy is a monster and he never cuts loose in his fights.

This Snydercut movement benefits all movies Because it sends a strong message to the studio that movie goers don't want to keep paying money for butchered products. WB butchered "4" DCEU movies ...BVS..SS..Wonder Woman's 3rd act and JL was the biggest final straw, yet we as a fandom get this weird attitude from TH-camrs who are hunting for negatives. If Disney did to Endgame what WB did to JL, you best believe MCU fans would be on a war path . MCU fans did "# Beat Avatar" They advocated for an already successful movie to beat another movie, where as Snyder fans advocated for the Justice of a butchered movie..Yet we get demonized. And the Donner fans banged down WB's door in 2006 for that cut...As much as TH-camrs talk, they don't say anything about that.

I think that the thing with the Anti-life Equation is that Darkseid lost track of the planet in which the Equation was found. The planet probably didn't even have a name at the time, so when Steppenwolf found out that Earth was THE PLANET the stakes changed, and he needed the mother boxes synchronized in order to come here! Also, I don't think Snyder is coming back. He's been involved in it for 10 years now, and except for the SnyderCut being so successful he never got much reward before. People are incredible suspicious towards his vision and his directing style is a laughingstock in "serious" cinephile groups. He would need other 10 years to finish his original plans and I don't think it would be an easy path to follow, specially after rollercoaster of the last 3 years. Loved your review!!

This movie was not ‘depressive’ ! I guess you were trying to make a point by saying ‘grim and depressive’ ... but one thing is yes the story is mature and a bit grim. But ‘depressive’ ? I watched it in 4:3 on a 27‘‘ PC monitor - not ONCE was I distracted by a seemingly smaller picture! This film was so goddamn EPIC that I forgot about having black bars left and right at about one minute into the movie. 😄 Of course you could stretch it to fill up your entire 16:9 screen - but I would really not recommend that. Quite a lot of Snyders beautiful compositions and also the action scenes simply need the whole space of the original 4:3 canvas. To me cropping the picture would feel like disrespecting the artist, to be brutally honest. I would recommend watching the entire movie at least twice, so that one viewing can utilize the intended aspect ratio. EDIT: Just saw that you had already considered that option on your own. 😅👍🏼

I think the reason they chose Ryan Choi tease for Atom is because Legends of Tomorrow was on at the time, and they had Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer already as the Atom... back in the days before they decided to do Multiversal story telling

For how many Batman film adaptations there are, I think there needs to be so much more focus on his mental fracturedness, psyche, and detective work. He's a broken individual mentally and it should be heavily focused upon, especially with dream sequences.

Ok I just did a first viewing on 4:3 and it looked glorious! Stylistically it fit this movie so much and made everything look so much more cinematic and scenic. I especially loved the part where they were getting ready to get on the bat plane and the shot went from left to right for the 6 of them and each hero looked so tall and bigger than life. I was so proud of Zach Snyder at the moment. It also felt like you’re flipping through pictures with your phone. It just worked. The story was much better too and I think batman started having nightmares after flash did that time travel thing in BvS, so it fits perfect for me. The part where everyone died and Flash had to use the speed force to reverse time and save everyone gave me chills. Reminded me of flashpoint paradox! I love this version so much gonna be a first day 4K buy for me. Throat notted up when the words For Autum scrolled up. Gonna Watch this again tomorrow in 16:9 format and see how it looks, but honestly I already know 4:3 aspect ratio is how I’m gonna watch this movie for me in the future.
I thought it was great, I see where you are coming from with the black suit, a black suit would absorb sunlight right and get Superman fully charged again? They could have worked that into the plot a bit better but I guess it is what it is and looked cool anyway.
To be honest, Steppenwolf's axe should have at least caused superman some discomfort/pain. Better if he just had tanked the first blow, saying: Impressive, I felt that. Steppenwolf swings at him again in a fury but this time Superman catches the Axe by the handle halting the swing in mid air ( with some minor effort) and then ripping it from SWs grasp (Demonstrating supermans superior strength but still establishing that SW can still deal some pain if he lands his blows) then breaking it in half and punching him to the ground.
Rewatching some of the JL scenes I think Zack Snyder would make a great Terminator movie or at least one that is better than those we got post T2. Those Knightmare scenes convinced me he'll be able to nail it.
This is obviously the superior version because the theatrical cut just didn’t have anything worth getting behind. I’d actually be in favor of more epic movies like this being released on the HBO platform so we can get real fleshed out characters. I will agree though that you are 100% correct about three script needing tightening. I never understand why they don’t get some of these comic book writers to work on a script or story like they do on a regular basis.
I respect you as a reviewer, but I don't agree with this particular review and your praise for this film. It bored me, at times made me laugh - at it, not with it. Snyder probably wanted it to feel dramatic and operatic but the result is pretentious and ridiculous. I rolled my eyes during several scenes, some of them in my opinion deserve nomination for Razzies awards.
Whew...way too many slow motion sequences and musical accompaniments that didn’t add anything to the story. The only saving grace is that these scenes would have wound up on the cutting room floor and cut down the run time. TBH, I didn’t notice much difference between the films other than length. Both were slow, long and boring. I didn’t really feel anything for the characters. That’s not entirely Zack’s fault. These characters should have been introduced in solo movies. The only plus to the Snyder cut was the addition of the battle storyline that explained some of the mythos. The extra footage made a terribly boring film slightly less boring. I’m glad the fans and Zack got what they wanted though.

I honestly don't know how you're able to like films as patently atrocious as this was and great films like The Searchers. The action makes no sense, the humour makes me want to drive a tamping rod through my skull, the music choices are embarrassing, the run time is pure unjustified self-indulgence. And it looks ugly as fuck, bloom and shitty cg everywhere like it was made 20 years ago. On a basic level Zack Snyder's recent films lack competence or skill.
Injustice superman kinda suck though. "What if superman became evil?" had already been done and explored thematically in the "Irredemable" comics some years before.

There was that one scene where black suit Superman flew up to lower orbit and faced the sun to absorb its energy.
The only continuity clash I saw was Mera saying her parents were dead... And that is not so in the Aquaman movie.

It amazes me that someone with great taste and deep knowledge and love of film can find anything good about this garbage. It was abysmal. The action makes no sense, the humour makes me want to drive a tamping rod through my skull, the music choices are embarrassing, the run time is pure unjustified self-indulgence. And it looks ugly as fuck, bloom and shitty cg everywhere like it was made 20 years ago. On a basic level Zack Snyder's recent films lack competence or skill.
Injustice superman kinda suck though.
"What if superman became evil?" had already been done and explored thematically in the "Irredemable" comics some years before.

Seeing Amber Heard in that movie was irritating altogether considering how she did Depp dirty. If her performance was good, it would have justified her presence, but this weird semi-British accent she has going is bad.
