I went to see Batman 89, and Batman returns at BFI Imax in london. It was fantastic. I also watched Alien and Aliens at the same place, and that was probably the best cinema experience of my life so far
It seems many of the key people involved with the movie industry simply don't know what a great movie even looks like. How are studios regularly spending over $100m for total stinkers? Where is all the money going? 🤔
Such a shame the naysayers and early bad reviews kept viewers away from LOTR and prevented it from earning a bigger box office. I loved it and know many people who thoroughly enjoyed it as well. The positive feedback seems to be rising over the weekend. Hopefully it'll get a decent 2nd weekend due to word of mouth from folks like me who had great things to say about it. Anyhow, I'll continue to support it by buying it on Blu-ray once it comes out ⚔️
The films of the 70's were great because it was a time period where the creatives had managed to get themselves more power and control over what was made and how. Compare to now where money=studios=execs rule much of it. Couple that with a struggle to figure out what to replace superheroes with and increasing pressure from social media and 'free' streaming content like youtube, tiktok and twitch and we get the current situation.
He's right the frame rate is horrible. Looks almost 1910 Baby Jane Hudson era kinetoscope bad. If they spent millions of dollars on this mess I'd suspect money laundering was involved. That or the person making the money decisions was secretly tossing bags of gold dollars out of the windows in Manhattan, NYC.
Movies have been underwhelming lately. I haven’t been to a movie theater since Gladiator 2, and that movie sucked. I know plenty of people have flocked to see Wicked and Moana 2, but let’s be honest-they’re just not great. They feel like mindless popcorn flicks aimed at bored families. Meanwhile, it’s been a slog waiting for The Brutalist and Nosferatu to finally get released. Why is it taking so long for those films to come out? The state of cinema is dreadful-just dreadful.
James, what executives made this decision for KRAVEN & do they really know what they are doing or have experience. You hear that executive in these positions don't like comic 🎥 so why are they giving all these chances. Budget$150 million wasted. SMH😂
So they had a perfectly good story line with Kraven from spider man and man-wolf and you'd even have the fan favorite JJJamison that could have been in the movie. Why come up with these movies where they always think they need to explain the origin. Brief synopsis: Cameo perter parker taking pictures for the bugle....famous son going to the moon. He goes...finds the rock that turns him into man wolf. Kraven shown hunting in africa....you could show his skill that way etc. he hears about spider man...goes to new york...but is disracted when man wolf starts to terrorize the city...etc etc..
Honestly I loved the Lord of The Robirrim because of I mean yes the main character may be a slight Mary sue but I liked it mostly because of the Helm Hammerhand dude in that because the character was awesome, voice actor was a great choice. That was a great one but I do understand not liking it but I like the main character because it’s sort of seen she was better than the villain in their childhood because she was more patient and he was more aggressive and more impatient than her and he lost because he was cowardly and it’s kind of yes they may be a Mary sue and before people get mad at me for liking her, she’s just a fun character in premise. I’m not an enjoyer of Mary sue’s but at least it’s somewhat explained as others like Wonder Woman without a weakness or flaw are just not good, I think it’s a good movie as it explained a separate part of the Lord of the Rings than the first films, which is great as it explains some parts of the movie instead of a soulless cash grab.
Sony gave the director of A Most Violent Year the wrong superhero movie and I don’t blame him. It’s not his fault, Sony completely screwed up Kraven The Hunter. This movie is paint by numbers boring and pointless. No chemistry with the cast, the characters are bland, terrible script, poor Russell Crowe decided to get a quick paycheck, and Avi Arad. That’s all you need to know about the end of Sony’s so-called Spider-Man Universe that crashed and burned with 3 Venom movies that were successful and three films that were trash (Madame Web, Morbius, and now, Kraven). Who needs Dark Universe when you need them. Oh, Wait!
Sony did the same thing with the Venom series. Made Venom a hero. Looks Sony just wants to hold on to the IP and don't care about the quality of the final product.
The hell is wrong with Dial Of Destiny? It's not a bad movie at all. Indy feels like Indy and unlike what the incels were crying about - he does NOT take second place to Waller-Bridge
As someone watching and enjoying strong women characters in Chinese dramas, that cut about women kicking male ass at the box office is undercut by the Lord of The Rohirrim being written by one of the female screenwriters of Lord of the Rings and is told from the point of view of a female character. So ignore the peanut gallery. Haven’t seen it but the animation for that looks like a cleaned up version of 70s animation. Enjoy your reviews. As an aside, the Chinese drama series, A Journey to Love 2023 might be worth your view if you have the time. 40 episodes at 45 minutes each. Kick ass Female lead and strong male lead and his team of men. Chinese historical drama with a suicide squad theme. Thank you.
Dude, give it a rest with the anime definition, you keep giving that definition with so much confidence as if everyone will think it is obviously true but it is a definition of your own creation. In Japan, anime is a Japanese term for any animation. In the west, it is a specific 2D low framerate animation style that focuses more on environment detail over than fluid movements.. A pixar style film wouldnt be called anime by Rebecca Rubin even if it was made in Japan because she is speaking about the style.
Sony is laughing all the way to the bank, despite these few shitty movies. They make them cheap, and it shows. It's unbelievable to me to see how much money the last Venom made. I stole it from the internet and couldn't last an hour before I stopped watching it.
Man, why'd you go and spoil The Penguin like that? I was planning on bingeing the show when I got some free time. Now, I already know he did something really villainous in the finale, and your careless remark built up an expectation I otherwise should've experienced fresh on my own. This is why I loathe reviewers sometimes, they can't help themselves. And I thought I'd subscribe. Nope, you've won my BlockTube treatment. Bye forever.
War of the Rohirrim? More like ‘War on the Audience.’ They could’ve skipped the $30M flop and just donated it to charity-at least that would’ve left people smiling instead of snoring.
The LOTR trilogy was great. I didn’t like The Hobbit trilogy much. Dont get me started on Rings of Power. I’m certainly not gonna watch this cartoon. Jackson and Serkis making two more movies… Terrible idea. The original trilogy is still there and that’s enough
DID YOU SAY CHINATOWN ? I fell asleep on that movie. It bored the hell outta me. I would rather watch Star Trek The Motion Picture instead of Chinatown. And TMP was slow as hell...but still good.
He made whole video on 50th anniversary of the Chinatown. It's actually excellent. However it does require repeted viewing. It really does get better with each viewing.
The entirety of Netflix is second-screen background noise.
At least we got a good Kraven in the Spider-Man 2 video game
I went to see Batman 89, and Batman returns at BFI Imax in london. It was fantastic. I also watched Alien and Aliens at the same place, and that was probably the best cinema experience of my life so far
People should stop following Grace Randolph.
Star Trek wrath of khan on imax would be cool.
It seems many of the key people involved with the movie industry simply don't know what a great movie even looks like. How are studios regularly spending over $100m for total stinkers? Where is all the money going? 🤔
Damn...i feel bad for ATJ. He's not a bad actor and seems like a decent guy. You have to pick better projects.
This won't hurt his career though. He's got 28 years later coming out next year. He'll be alright. 👍🏾
He's in Nosferatu and 28 Years Later, he's fine
@idiot_city5444 that's true. Good year for him.

I kinda feel bad for Aaron Taylor Johnson. He's usually a good actor and he seems like a really good guy. I hope this doesn't mess his career up .

Not too many people were _Craving_ to see that one!
Is brutalist the good version of megalopolis
Silver lining, maybe Sony takes the hint & actually works with Marvel Studios more closely from here on out, god I hope
Yeah but Marvel isn’t any better lately.
So Red One actually not a bomb? Still doing good.
I just want the poster!! 🙋🏾♀️
Honestly, how did it manage that much?

Good idea for a story, which is why Sony would never go for it.
@FCSchaefer and that is just off the top of my head.
@@brucer2152 no point thinking all that cuz sony doesn't give a fuck. Avi arad and matt tolmach should retire.
@@brucer2152 And still way better than what some people were paid big bucks to write.
@FCSchaefer yep

Create new worlds, characters, and stories...unless you're Zack Snyder. Lol.
I disagree that Kraven would’ve done well if it was a better movie. Doesn’t feel like many people care about watching it. I feel the anticipation
Is A .I. writing these. Blahzay scripts?
Yes they have been for years

Kraven the granny smasher
Best reviewer by far!
The hell is wrong with Dial Of Destiny? It's not a bad movie at all. Indy feels like Indy and unlike what the incels were crying about - he does NOT take second place to Waller-Bridge
I'm Cravin' a good superhero film
Kraven ("craven") literally means coward. Terrible name for a super hero.

I'm calling it now: The Brutalist will be artsy fartsy BOREFEST, and Mangold's Bob Dylan film will be meh and forgettable.
Sounds like you’ve already made up your mind what those movies will be before seeing them 🤷♂️
Sony is laughing all the way to the bank, despite these few shitty movies. They make them cheap, and it shows. It's unbelievable to me to see how much money the last Venom made. I stole it from the internet and couldn't last an hour before I stopped watching it.
