Thanks Jan. Easy tip I have used for grandbabies. Cut off four to six inches of the bottoms of legs and add another color or design flannel in its place to add fun. But then add the cut off to sleeves or hem of a t-shirt or a shirt you sew. Then it becomes a two piece set with no waste.

For my grandson, I make the pants from a novelty fabric, purchase a plain t-shirt, and make a chest pocket from the pants fabric.

Make a 2inch hem on kids pants, so you can let the hem down when they grow an inch the month after you gift them

Hi Jan, I am so happy to say I bought your pattern and you video to show us is amazing. I’m messed up before trying to make the pants for my grandkids and I gave up on it cause I couldn’t figure it out well, your pattern is perfect and I got the cut out part already down. I am using a size 3
, 4 &8 so I went to Joanns to get my fabric. They were on sale this weekend and I went to cut out the size 8 and the fabric still was not enough. It said in the directions one and a quarter but I went ahead and bought one and a half just in case and it still wasn’t enough. It only cut out one panel not two so I don’t know what were wrong there and I gotta go buy more and my other size 8 I don’t have enough fabric to make the size 8 either so it’s more fabric than what the pattern says. Just wanted to call.. thank you so much for a wonderful pattern easy to follow and your video is absolutely amazing. I’m not good at clothes. I’m good at quilts and crappy stuff.

Been going to start up sewing for a decade, lol. Haven't sewn since middle school home economics... Love how your explained details and close ups. Also not loud and excessive with your words. I subscribed! I am going to order some fabric for jamee pants for me and my young adult kiddos! And use your tutorial. Hopefully my brand new sewing machine works that has been in storage, lol!!! Do you have recommendations for a surger? I loved that in this video.

Awesome. That is so fun you are going to start sewing again. Thanks for subscribing. I love my babylock victory. Here is a video showing how to thread this serger that will show you the brand and some of the functions.

Hi Jan I learned to sew from my grandmother and my mother, and made many garments for my children as they were growing including pajama bottoms. I love watching your videos because they are relaxing to me and help inspire me to get working on my sewing projects. I love your craft room and hope to have one of my own someday. I really noticed you using the coffee cups to hold your pattern down. My mom used to homeschool my children and they had bought her two very heavy decorative glass and stone apples. my mother used to use those to hold the pattern pieces down because we usually had a fan blowing on us while we were doing our summer sewing projects. My mom passed away several years ago, but every time I sew now, I bring her apples to the table and still use them. It didn’t feel right sewing without her, but having her apples there makes me feel like she’s there with me again. Thank you again.

Flannel at JoAnns might be 42 or 43 inches wide. Those who are new to buying fabric, the width is on the end of the bolt and usually does not include the selvedge. Selvedge shrinks differently so usually not used when cutting a pattern.
