I really like your videos. I just started sewing with a machine. I always sew manually by hand. Now want to learn how to use my machine. I'm 60 and figured I needed something to do now that I'm retired. Thanks for your expertise.

My computer has ESP. I am just returning to sewing and attempting to make a couple cross stitch bags as Christmas gifts and thought a pillow case would be wonderful for my Grands. I went to TH-cam and this video pops up even before I added pillowcases in the search bar. Wonderful video! I want to make these for everyone! Thank you!!

I wasn't particularly looking for a pillowcase video. I set TH-cam on sew and was scrolling and found your video, decided to watch, then I watched another of your videos and another and yet another and almost 3 hours later decided it was time to go to bed, at 1:00 a.m. LOL I went to your channel and was watching literally all of your videos and lost track of time. I learned something from each video. one thing I have to say though, on one of your videos you said that people will make mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes, but what I like to say is, it's not a mistake it's a learning experience. I absolutely love your tutorials and I will probably spend another 3 hours tonight watching

Your videos are so instructive for a beginner. Thanks to your clear instructions, I've just made my first pillowcase. My husband set up the needle and bobbin for me as I don't sew. I accidentally found your channel and began to watch you out of curiosity. You clearly direct the process in a step-by-step, precise, and concise manner. I went out and bought fabric so I could finally use a sewing machine I was given that had been sitting unused in my office. I'm a beginner and your video is my first class. You're a great teacher so please, please make more videos. Thank you so very much.

OMG!! Sergers are the best!!! I would give up my sewing machines anytime. You cannot put a ribbing on a sweater with a sergers. Sergers are BEST thing ever invented. It is great especially when sewing knit fabrics. I have 2 Bernina (1999 and 2022) sergers and 4 sewing Machines, 2 embroidery machines and 1 industrial and a regular sewing machine that I learned to sew since I was 12 years old, now 68.

Wish I'd seen your video a cpl years ago. New sewist. Had zero ideas how to make a pillow case. After seeing a video with burrito style. I gave it a shot. However, there isn't one that I could find and believe me I searched for days. In fact until I wasin a panic for time. The prob was how to create a pillowcase that had ( like cats) fabric facing right way not long way. When you put a pillow on the bed you want to see those critters looking at you. Lol> on both sides! Well, I quickly realized there was no idea anywhere how to do that either. So 6 hours later I did it! Added an extra seam on folded side. Flipped fabric upside-down added a new French seam on that side as well.. then went about putting it together ❤ WOWZERS I was so proud of myself. As I sit here writing this I have to admit if you flip pillowcase opening the opposite way eternal the pillow is on bed the critters were face up as well. I think it's probably still do it with the extra seam. After all it doesn't take but a few min extra and then they are always right side up. Lol yes a lil ocd. The best part, I was just beginning to relearn nearly everything after a B.I. lent why it took hours to digit it how to get those darn mermaids actually. Lol upside right !
So if I didn't say it, THANK YOU! I hadn't done another one since. Surg this lil refresh my brain was able to o kick into i know how to do that mode. Giving me confidence it would not takes hours and it will certainly be easy more fun the next time. And thank you for putting this out there..I'll admit for anyone struggling after a B.I. or with a mental health ability. There are a few things that can help. But I think that's where there is a a need for a specific type of channel.
    Thank you again. Many blessings!
Ps I look forward to seeing what else you have shared!!

Thank you for this tutorial! I've been through countless pilllowcase-making tutorials and you're the only one I've found who gives both length and width measurements.
I have some fabric right off the bolt that's 40", some that's 42" and some 44". I wasn't sure if a few inches would change it much but now that I know what it's supposed to be, I know which fabric to use. So, thanks!

The best fabrics for your hair are smooth ones, silk is best, but for cheaper multiple pillows buy a high thread count cotton sheet. Flannel will leave your hair in knots.

Thanks for the great video. I had made pillowcases using all the methods in the past, however I have a date with my granddaughter to make some pillowcases, with and without contrasting cuffs. I thought if she watched YOUR video, she might be more prepared to sew the RIGHT way and not try shortcuts!! Thanks so much!

Terrific information.....I made my own pillow set of pillow cases twice now, but to make em' look spiffy, professional and using a "fancier fabric" I will try your teachings. I've always searched for "designer" type cases (to dress up my bed) but ...out of my reach dollar $$$ wise. Now I can have them !!!!! Thanks for sharing.....God bless

Jan, great demo. I'm making a quilts for two twin boys. I have some fabric leftover, and this will be a great guide for making pillowcases. A hot hemmer ruler is also a godsend for making even hems. I cut anti fatigue waffle mats to put under my machines to control vibration. They have the added benefit of serving as great pin cushions!

@@JanHowell I also use this tool to get really crisp corners on my binding (I glue mine down prior to sewing)--that 45 degree line allows perfect alignment--puts a crisp edge for the 1/4" needle stop and a crisp edge on the foldback. Also, it works fantastic on FPP...it is thin and strong so paper folds easily and it works great with Add a Quarter Ruler. Love your channel.
