Lovely video and again ... I could not be happier that you are enjoying your time in Poland!
The center of town is called "Centrum" in Polish.
Rynek Główny is pronounced: REE-Neck GWOOV-nih
Polish is quite a difficult language, Gabriel, however it is a language that can be learned, step by step by step by ... baby step.
Many Foreigners, inclusive of we Yanks, learn to speak the lingo FLUENTLY each and every day, of each and every year.

    • @SuiGenerisAbbie
      @SuiGenerisAbbie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Dziękuję is thank you in Polish. You say it like this: Jeng-KOO-yay. Put the word, "bardzo" after it to say Thank you very much.
Bardzo means very in Polish. It is pronounced, BARD-zo
Remember to trill your "r's" Gabriel. They are all hard and trrrrrrrrrrrrilled.

I was born in Krakow years ago.
I'm glad to see foriners being overwhelmed and fascinated by that town.
There's so much "stuff" going on in Krakow.
Get yourself ready for the cultural experience....and food.
You are going to get some extra pounds of weigh.
Don't feel guilty about that...just enjoy it.
    Greetings from Chicago USA

Hello Gabriel.....Krakow is great,,,,,I have next destination suggestion for you not so far away --- Tatra Mountains ----- great hiking trails --- mountain huts if you wish ... I'm familiar with the Slovakian side --- Stary Smokovek and Tatranska Lomnica ... you could make some of those great Nepal style trekking recordings there , but with cable cars if you wish :) ---- also Kosice is a pretty city if you make it to the Tatra's....have loved your videos for a long time....best wishesI

Glad you are finally in Poland after postponing it, and more specifically in my beloved Krakow... I don't know what your plans are there, but I humbly suggest a few things and inform you of others so that you enjoy even more your stay.
The old portion of the bridge in front of the UniTarg Hala Targowa market is not part of the Old Walls of the City... those walls surrounded the city and were where now there is a linear park with many trees just across Wawel Castle going towards the Main Square, said to be the largest MEDIEVAL square in all of Europe.
That park is called The Planty, or "The Plants"... a king, seeing that the wall system had decayed so much, and trying to "look modern", ordered its demolition, but the City had no money to build something in its place, so, years later some architects advised to plant many trees to transform the old wall system into a garden system.
The only remains of the old fortification system are the Barbican, St Florian's Gate and a few yards of wall to either side of it.
There is a small bronze model of what the defensive system looked like just before one enters the Gate from the outside, similar to the model you saw in the Main Square, which was the Town Hall and only the tower remains. There were no kings there.
The large church in the corner with the uneven spires is St Mary's Basilica, it is worth seeing it inside. The small church in the opposite corner is St Adalbert's, or Sw Wocjiech, supposedly the oldest church of Krakow, but be cautious... the limits of that old Krakow were even shorter then... the other two churches you saw walking towards the Castle are St Peter and St Paul with the apostles' statues outside, and the next one is St Andrew's, the one you show some images of its inside.... that is the oldest church, it was a combination of fortification and church, but it was NOT inside the city limits.
Go back to the castle, the statue of a guy on a horse entering the Hill from where you exited is that of polish hero Tadeusz Kosciuszko, also a hero of America's war of Independence together with Pulaszki and other poles.
The main building in the castle is the Cathedral... don't miss it, specially the Royal tombs... all the kings and most presidents of Poland are buried there... you'll be surprised... from the outside you can see the chapels built for their burials. Don't miss the exhibitions in the Palace inside the Castle... I am not sure if you can still admire DaVinci's Lady with Ermine painting there... you can ask about it.
Don't miss Kazimierz, the old Jewish Quarters, now a trendy district, just a short walk from your hotel... don't miss the Jagellonian University, the 2nd oldest in Central Europe, right after Charles University in Prague, the original building is right a few short blocks from the Main Square... many of their illustrious graduates include a Copernicus guy, many kings, presidents and Pope John Paul II, born Karol Wojtyla. By the way, Krakow's two oldest streets date back to the 11th Century and are Grodzka, where you walked towards the Castle, and Kanonicza, parallel and adjacent to Grodzka, where JP II had its offices as Archbishop of Krakow.
If you have a chance, don't miss Auschwitz... it is not a pretty sight but is worth every penny... if time allows, go south to Zakopane.
ENJOY, and thanks a lot for the images !!!
