This holistic “medicine” market has been around a looooong time… and will continue to be.
I think with it being marketed more directly post COVID is solely due to the perfect storm - social media becoming so normalized and ideal marketing to the younger generations, with the addition of COVID causing people having a lot more free time to spend on social media.
Snake oil is an easy sell and always will be, unfortunately.

pharmacy student here, *if you are experiencing frequent bloating there are many factors that could bring causing this such as:*
    - not having enough physical activity(walking, exercising at least 30 minutes a day will help a lot and the more the better!out guts love movement so we should help them out)
    - eating too much in one sitting ( and not moving afterwards makes it worse!)
    - not drinking enough fluids (WATER!! not soda, certainly not coffee or other caffeinated beverages, I CANT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, pease drink more water you will feel better in every way possible)
    - eating too many legumes or flower veggies like cauliflower and broccoli (these naturally make us bloated as they are really high in fibre, which is totally okay, but again, like I said before if you’re not moving like taking a walk or exercising for at least 30 minutes a day, it can become really troublesome for your intestines)
    - Eating too much protein (eating way too much protein can sometimes cause extreme bloating which again is nothing alarming, but it can cause a lot of pain. If you are not pairing it, we drink it and fluids and movement.)
    - Eating way, too many processed foods (by this, I mean anything that has additives, like candies, chocolate bars with fillings, ready to eat meals, especially frozen ones, canned ready to eat meals, et cetera) many additives are there to preserve the food, but it can cause problems with digestion and it varies from person to person, people don’t have any problems with it, some may have a good tolerance, but if they overdo it, they can feel bloated, and others are distinct to feel bloated and sluggish, after almost every processed food
    - then there are medical reasons such as: you may have intolerance, for example, lactose intolerance, which means your body is missing enzymes to be able to digest lactose (so called milk sugar) and in this case, almost all dairy product will make you feel bloated and can cause diarrhoea as well. This intolerance can appear suddenly so just because you could eat dairy all your life one day, you can just wake up and not be able to enjoy a cup of milk anymore. If it isn’t milk or lactose free milk. I have this intolerance too and I’ve had it for the past seven years, I’m 26 years old now.
    - next is gluten intolerance, the principle is almost the same, in this case you are not missing any enzyme, it’s just dead gluten suddenly becomes almost toxic to your inner lining of your intestines and your body things it’s a toxin, which causes inflammation. this can happen suddenly overnight and just like lactose intolerant scientist. Haven’t found out yet why this is so abruptly.
    - You can have serious medical underlying condition. If you checked off everything I wrote above, you tried to eliminate process food. You increased your daily movement, you increased your daily water intake, you are sure you don’t have lactose or gluten intolerance, there might be a serious medical issue and I would highly suggest you to visit your doctor. Write down all your symptoms and tell them about all precaution measures you have taken up till now and that it is still causing you trouble.

I don't think you guys understand why they're promoting Bloom so hard after covid-19. The reason is that a lot of people who got long haul covid have severe problems with eating solid foods and some people have almost starved to death because of this my husband is one of them I have tried to force him to eat vegetables and fruits and it's very difficult for him to eat enough calories let alone to get the proper micro nutrients and veggies. Bloom is just taking advantage of the fact that a lot of people are very sick and Ill right now and unable to eat the proper amount of fruits and vegetables without being sick. I know when you're healthy it can be hard to understand why somebody won't be able to eat what you can eat try being incredibly ill for a year or two years and I think you'll understand quickly why someone is desperate for something like this.

@@steph678 Okay, but then you can incorporate veggies into soups, which will make them soft. You can buy cutters for less than one pack of these supplements that'll help you cut them into small pieces. There are dozens of cream-based sauces you can make with soft pieces of veggies or meat where they won't feel off. Contacting a professional dietitian who knows what they're talking about is going to be cheaper at the end of the day than taking a supplement that in the only increases your bowel moments.

For some people like me, with severe cross-reactivity from a severe latex allergy, i can only eat some fruits and veggies after theyve been broken down to certain degrees, and they tend to loose nutritional value in the process. And im low income and the foods i CAN eat are too expensive for me to afford. Things are not always easy for everyone. This isnt a directed attack, but simply another angle to look at these issues from

Bloating is a thing they basically made up to convince people it was okay to abuse laxatives or diuretics. The medical kind is real, but 99% of the people who think they're "bloated" don't need a doctor, they just need to get used to what their bodies actually look like, especially young women.
Yes, your body probably changes throughout the day, before your period, etc. But that's normal and fine and not something you CAN "fix" in a healthy way.

Thank you for this video! Blooms is so unethical in their marketing but also with their product as well. I really don't know how these influencers are making these claims that they feel good and improve their gut health. Well, we do, they get paid big bucks lol. But, there are so many problems with their product and I'm a clinical nutritionist so I hope these tips can help others if they're thinking of buying a poor quality supplement!
First of all, their claims - supports gut health, relieves bloating and promotes energy. These are pretty big claims to be making for such a complex topic. You can't just simplify gut health problems and make it so vague. Especially when their product doesn't have peer reviewed clinical studies to back their claims! If you're experiencing gut health problems, please see a professional who will support you!
Second of all, it's a proprietary blend. So whilst it does show what ingredients it has, it doesn't show how much of each ingredient individually. Companies do that to cut costs so then they can maximise profits. For example, they have an ingredient in their called Ashwagandha in their 100mg adaptogenic blend. When it comes to that particular herb, the clinical dosage for it to have an impact is at least 300-600mg 1-2x per day.
Third of all, for a product to promote gut health, having only 2g of fibre is sooooo small. A bag of smart lollies has more fibre than this product.
Last but not least, the probiotics blend is a bit concerning too. We don't even know what the CFU's are. You don't know the effectiveness of it, the count of the probiotics or if the probiotics are even alive or not. These are all crucial aspects of making a probiotic effective!!
So rather than spending your money on that supplement for your gut health. Enjoy your fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains :)

How did I help my digestive health? Definitely not some random powder from a really unregulated industry.
No I went to a doctor who gave me a diagnosis which led to recommended diet changes and medications which have evidence showing that they will actually help my conditions.
Fiber is great, how do I get fiber? I have smoothie bowls that I add chia seeds, flax seeds, shredded coconut, and granola. And guess what? It tastes like freaking dessert and probably ends up cheaper per bowl depending on specific fruit choices.
Eat real food and see a doctor of you have concerns if you can. And if you can't see a doctor at least listen to licensed professionals who are out there on the internet, not a random lady claiming that it's cured her of all her life problems with zero qualifications to say so.

Yes, you're right about constant bloating problems, to a severe extent, not being normal. I, personally, was having sudden problems w that, and found out by myself that I had SIBO. My gastroenterologist wasn't even helpful w/ it, and it took me years to figure out what I had. I was on opioids for many years, and chronic constipation caused it, and my doctor still didn't test for it bc the test is complex, but tested me for parasites and stuff I knew I didn't have. I got him to prescribe the specific antibiotic for that and was cured of all my vomiting and extreme bloating, etc. There is no other cure for SIBO other than the specific antibiotic to target your small intestine, btw.

So sick of these influencer health scams.

imo it's done to prey on the disordered eating people who are fearful of the natural sugars in fruit. for a while there was a trend on tiktok where people were freaking out about it. when rendered down this way they can remove a ton of the glucose/fructose but like . . . eating a cup of berries and a banana will not kill you. your body needs the sugars lmao. the human brain is extremely reliant on glucose to function

Does the ftc have a law covering social media with product placement like just having it on the desk while your talking about something completely different or on the background on the counter while doing a completely video even though they are getting paid for it? Movies do it and so don't shows it's a way to advertise to your subconscious in a way.

I hate that the sponsorships aren’t even disclosed but worse than that is when they aren’t obviously sponsorships/payed ads. Like it will be a normal haha funny or day in my life or random skit and on the counter way off in the background is a small container of Bloom and that counts and they get paid for that or at least free stuff. The amount of leeway the company gives is insane, the bar is beyond low.
