but of course! Why didn't I think to cut the old fabric diagonally from the middle. I struggled all afternoon taking the tacks off first! Lateral thinking. Thanks a very instructive video. Now to put my chair together again.
Wow! You make it look so easy, I have 2 bergere chairs that I have no confidence in reupholstering. Will keep watching all your videos to give me courage and clarity. Thank you!
This is wonderful work and you made it look easy. I am new and bought amazing chairs that need to be upholstered. Can you share what tools you used? Can you use something other than a glue gun? Is there something to stitch up the binding to chair? Thanks.
I have been STRUGGLING with my inset back dining chairs. This was extremely helpful. Now if I could gather enough patience to sew piping I'll be set. P.s. Did the donut place ever call?
Great job, thanks, I can do this, I was concerned about the back inset cording but it looks like it is a double cording, with the raw edge on the back of the double cording.
I don’t quite understand how you dealt with the cut out corners on the seat back. This is the only video I have hound with chairs like these, like mine. I have rewatched in slo mo but can’t quite see how you deal with this issue.
Beautiful. I am going to upholster a friends old Grandmothers rocking chair which has had the wood painted years ago. (Dark brown). The wood looks to be a beautiful pecan. Where the paint has rubbed away, the chair is beautiful. The brown paint is gummy and stinks. What can I clean this wood with?
Nice job of lining up the stripes on the back with the stripes on the seat. I think I mention that every time you do a stripe. P.S. - Not sure I would ever want to walk around your shop without shoes. Do you ever leave there with staples stuck to the bottom of your shoes? Lol
Thank you for the video this is exactly what I have .. how do I know if I need to replace the foam cushion? It’s an antique chair that feels like the cushion is in great condition but idk if there’s dust etc all in the foam from being so old?
If it is a loose cushion, you would see a fine yellow dust on the decking underneath. If it’s a tight seat, the yellow dust would be trapped or falling out of the bottom dust cover. Either way, once you are dissatisfied with the cushion, I would replace it.
@@MarksUpholstery are you on any other platforms? I’d like to ask a couple questions about this chair (possibly send a pic). I wanted to do faux leather but not sure if it’s even possible.
@@MarksUpholstery I’ve basically spent 12 hours in all trying to answer my own questions and it’s a shot in the dark everytime or just not quite what I need - so wanted to ask you!

I appreciate that, thanks
Excellent work and I like the piping. Fine fabric for your chair and the music inspired me to watch to the end*
You are my new favorite upholstery training source. I like your no nonsense approach to the job. Your confidence in your ability shows.
Thank you LeAnn

You are amazing at what you do, and I enjoy watching you work! Do you have any videos on how to upholster chairs with the metal/iron backs?
None I know of. I’ll keep it in mind for a possible future video
@@MarksUpholstery thank you!
Thank you for this! Very helpful in my upcoming reupholstering project.
Beautiful workmanship
The new fabric is definitely a better choice. It came out beautiful.👍
Thank you Elizabeth

No, still waiting 😋

How do you make the covered cording, is it a double cording? I know it must be send with a machine
I use a double welt foot. Personally, I do the first welt single then use the double

In most cases you only need to pull the fabric into the middle

What can I clean this wood with?
May need to use a paint stripper. I’m not a refinisher, but I’d start with that, then evaluate a second coat before sanding
Thank you for sharing! I have an iron inlet chair- such a pain to reupholster. I started with one and it was a process! Any tips?
Nice job!!!
I wish you lived in Florida near me. I would love to have our laz-y-boy recliner recovered. 😊
Mark, just do my chairs for me please! You are really good at this!
Awesome job Mark
Would you please show how to remove the inset fabric covered portion of the back from its surrounding wood frame?
Will when I have another one, thanks

I keep a pair wire cutters in my kitchen drawer to remover staples and tacks👍🏼. Thanks Alice
Lovely 😊

I have to say that fabric originally on the chair was definitely not appealing 😂 I love the new fabric choice👍🏻
