- I absolutely loved this album (Sound of White Noise) and I loved this tune. Anthrax's "Only". Not an overly fast double bass presence, but still one that is driving and consistent. Could not respect Charlie Benante more if I tried.

Yo Daniel! Man, bottom of my heart - thank you. If my musical life to date is any indication, I'll probably be back in clubs helping friends play 4 sets LOL! Cover bands, circuit bands, tribute bands, wedding acts, development deals, solo artists, no mariachi bands but give it time HAHAHA! But, it's fun to think about. Still, I don't expect anything. I didn't expect anybody on here to care to be honest man so that's why to this day, I'm so over the top grateful people are kind enough to watch my friend.
Damn, I forgot how much I love Charlie Benante. He always seemed to know exactly what a song needed from him to make it perfect. The Sound of White Noise has always been one of my favorite Anthrax albums and from the way you looked playing Only I think it was one of yours too.
Benante is a pure monster. Admittedly, I am really looking forward to how he's going to handle the Pantera parts. I read something a few days ago where he said he was taking the time to do those tracks lick for lick. I can't imagine him doing that but I know he is such a monster drummer, he can take on about any task he chooses. But he is taking on one of the tallest tasks out there IMO. As for this, his work on White Noise is flat out epic 🤘🤘🤘🤘 I love that entire album.

I played in a metal band in the 2000s, we played that song and the drummer always ended up with leg cramps, great way to play brother !!

But, I also really loved this album and I'm a fan of J. Bush. His vocals were a great fit to the music they (Anthrax) created at this time. I was listening to Painkiller with no music and in way, I'm alright with releasing that. But I'm hesitant to just because I fully understand the vast majority of folks prefer the song before the drums. But just curious what your thoughts are on uploads with just drums? Thanks my friend!

What's up Jim! Like the Crue 94 album, this album was another one that I just dug. Dude, "dug" isn't even the right word. Potters Field came on and I cranked it as loud as it would go. Yo CB! Thanks so much for checking it out and for leaving a comment! This one was a different animal mix wise even though it doesn't jump out necessarily. I listened to the original track a bunch before tracking. I got 2-3 good takes but all were slightly different. Opened up the kick entirely and tuned both front and back heads for more resonance. Switched up the tuning on all the toms but, I can't really say it cuts through much differently. Telling ya bro, Charlie Benante is a pure monster. Emulating him (for me) is always tough to do. Dude's got so much more speed than I can muster it's crazy. But he's a got hella feel to go with all the other stuff. Thank you bud!

I sure appreciate it Adam! I just got done with Flyleaf and Day of Fire. DAMN man.........awesome work. That 28 kick, that is what I'm talkin' about! Looks so good. Honest question - how do you like the feel of it? The depth (I'm assuming) makes it more responsive than most would imagine. I've only had the pleasure of moving up to a 26. LOVED that drum but it had a 20 depth to it so it was moving some air to say the least.

Dude, it's fucking goofy isn't it? I had the Crue release with Corabi and this one with Bush on repeat and not because either band switched singers. I was just hearing two bands I already liked do a massive overhaul to their sound. I still remember hearing Potter's Field and BOOM, I was hooked. Yo Chris! You have no idea how glad I am to read your comment. On this one, I'd told Jeff Holden I switched up the approach to get it close. Bass drum is wide f'n open and I moved the mic around 15 different ways. Charlie is just a hard cat to cover. And I found out early on in this, recreating his sound wasn't any easier but still, it was fun to try. Thank you my friend!

This is awesome. I was wondering what sorts of triggers you use and how it is mixed to get the end result. Making a video on that....would be useful.
What up Peter! At some point I need to do that. In short, I use a combo of reaper midigate presets that deliver a midi sound to kick / snare but I honestly try not to overdo it. I keep it as realistic as possible in terms of overheads and room mics as well as direct mics. Appreciate you!!!!!!!!!!!

Trey that was wicked man, super cool tune! I was fortunate enough to see Anthrax opening for Judas Priest in the 2000`s, it was likker I mean killer! Totally impressive drumming my friend, I`m really digging your trend of heavy groove Rock man, you kill metal but I`m really partial to hard rock and you accel at it in a really obvious way! You got the juice brother, mucho respect to you!
Full admission, I did two lines of what I thought was coke before the track. I was all amped up and focused. Did it, was happy with it and found out I snorted baby powder. And I didn't even get to do it off a stripper's tit. Did it off my old ass coffee table and used a dollar bill. Didn't even have a 100.
Now that I'm done with that, I sure think the world of you Jeff. I hope you always know that. And no, I didn't snort baby powder. I'd know immediately if I did.
