Caroline Quentin travels by camel to the `Golden City' of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, where she meets Princes Shakti and Vikram Singh and hears about the history of the fort in which many of the population still live. Caroline then returns to Gujarat to attend a festival at Ahmedabad, before ending the second leg of her journey in the cosmopolitan city of Mumbai. Here, she learns more about the stray dogs that roam the streets, receives fashion tips from a Bollywood actress and watches a display of gymnastics.
Caroline Quentin takes viewers on an epic journey through India providing a personal insight into one of the world's most remarkable and diverse countries. Caroline's eye-opening adventure aims to discover what goes on in the modern Indian life as well as challenge preconceptions of the subcontinent. Caroline will experience India's remarkable contrasts, from expansive, breathtaking landscapes such as Kanha National Park to dense, humid metropolises including Kolcutta and Mumbai, which encompass the extremes of wealth and often desperate poverty in close proximity.

I laughed so hard when she said, "the girls in England do" referencing dancing on the pole. What magnificent strength.

I watched this and love Caroline Quentin. I was heart broken by the children living in squalor and still having the pets, but loved the way that Caroline turned it into a positive. As I sit here and feed my dogs treats and pamper them ... well quite frankly I am called into accountability about the real problem of poverty and child dependency in the world and feeling called to do more.

You wont like this answer but family planning is relevant. The same in all poverty stricken countries.

This is was a lovely program very well done by Caroline Quentin… though nearly ruined by the rude & misogynist comment section.
It’s free on TH-cam, if you don’t like it DO NOT WATCH IT! The entitlement is astonishing as it is disgusting.

So how long can the blame game be played? At what point is a person responsible for themselves or does one just keep playing the generation after generation of deflection of responsibility by blaming people who had nothing to do with it?

    • @theemptyatom

How about that Indian dude in his billion dollar house and the people below him living in complete squalor - I guess this is the British People's fault? Or maybe it is justified because of that countries religious beliefs like Karma - which certainly benefits the wealthy - but hey blame it on the British anyway.

@@theemptyatom You expect India to go from impoverished & exploited to superpower status in a decade?
India today is the world's fastest growing major economy, nobody is blaming the British for that.
But the historical poverty is due to British mismanagement and imposition of absurd tariffs. No two questions about that.

The reason why they have a red beard and hair is because in the Muslim religion it is a sunnah or a beloved practice of our Beloved Prophet PBUH. I know to the Westerner and the Indian Hindu lady it is a funny thing but in our religion many Muslims practice this beloved Sunnah. The lady could have said it is a Muslim practice rather then poking fun of it.
