Thanks for watching and your interest in the Hobby. We are currently brainstorming on a project to better help close gaps between nodes. We’re located in Western New York Specifically Southern Erie County. We have some really solid radio clubs both HAM and GMRS in the region and we’d like to get them on board with the project. We are also working hard on the IoT stuff these things can do. We are considering starting a MQTT broker service so your mesh network can connect to another mesh network and you can chat with your meshtastic device to other like minded people. None of my radio guys are networking guys so it’s a slow process and just took a break from it to write back to ya lol. More videos coming out soon.
Unfortunately the gap has many hurdles including knowing and being experienced in Ubuntu, Docker Containers, ssh-ing, VM’s, not to mention something called an “instance” in cloud servers. Words that I know in English like “Globally” have different meanings in computer. Something running “Globally” on a computer doesn’t mean it leaves the single computer it’s running on. Rather it can be run outside the folder on the single computer. Make sense? Yeah me either.
Thanks for the video. I just got mine a few days ago and haven’t see other nodes so the video clarified that for me.

@@niknazzd I got into meahtastic from HAM radio. I agree that a closing the gap would be great.

Ham radio operators can transmit at 10W but you lose the encryption due to FCC laws .
My phone buzzes every 60 seconds as it updates something…maybe talking to the device? Not sure how to turn it off.
