Wrestling 101. Nice description of a traditional spiral ride. Couple of points: Body lock high in the armpits to gain more control of the shoulders If the do Granby with a lower waist lock, roll with it to a Crab Ride. Wrestling 102
I have been building a basic curriculum for LEOs and I chose the spiral ride instead of typical hooks anytime Uke points his hips at the ground. Seeing it accepted and working against people at such a high level of grappling is pretty affirming. Awesome stuff.
Ppl sometimes don’t realize how ineffective boots in can be against a strong guy who just refuses to stay down lol spiral ride, wrist rides and short tilts are always opening offense
@@bolenarrow9286facts bro I literally wrestled 5 months & now I’m known as the wrestler & know all basics Much easier to implement in BJJ most athletes are guard pullers
Traditional wrestling moves translate well to Jiujitsu but it’s Nothing new. Guys have been doing spiral rides in Jiujitsu way before Craig made it big.
@@donnieortegojiujitsu true but most wrestler using it have the wrestling is best mindset and dont blend it with bjj and most of the bjj old schoolers shun anything wrestling so it has taken guys like craig and gordon to really show that it works at a high level for people to come around.
I will definitely be adding this option to my turtle attack. Keeping people on the ground should be emphasized more for jiu jitsu. This is where I have been watching alot more wrestling techniques.
I love how grapplers are adding wrestling controls to their arsenals. Hope someday we get rid of butt-scooters all together. It's not Catch wrestling yet, but we're getting there. 👍
Basic wrestling here. Maybe you could consider watching wrestling tutorials for top control and riding. They are way more advance than what's shown here. But if course, start with wrestling 101. Then work your way up.
Craig, love that you teaching wrestling basics to the masses, but you gotta get the names right if you gonna teach wrestling. 1) That thigh grip is not called Spiral Ride, it's a Thigh Pry. Spiral Ride is the name of the breakdown itself, which can happen with plethora of different grips. 2) That wrist control from back is called Wrist Ride (not Dagestani Handcuffs, LoL. To be frank, any reference to young MMA fighters just make you look like you've just discovered Wrist Riding recently. 😅 (That's like calling a Jab "the Usman punch". 🤣)
@@kris3451 Funny, this comes from a guy who calls Submission wrestling with a Japanese name. And a Coil lock with a Portuguese. Yeah, real descriptive. PS: It's called a "Ride" coz it's designed to zap your opponent's energy out if he resists; making him tired even if the actual break down is unsuccessful. Wrestlers are great at riding. You can really see them breaking their opponents in MMA when they go against other styles. Khabib and DC are great examples.

Super happy to see high level Bjj players finally incorporate more classic wrestling moves for ground control

I'm loving these new concepts for traditional positions. Definitely will incorporate these into my game.

Yeah this was taught to me in high school, love the position but not new

@@kallepikku4991 of course it is, but id rather learn basic anything from Craig Jones than some high school wrestling coach
This is what I love about this game. Always new things to learn.

No one cares about your outdated names. It also very different, everyone throws a jab, the dagestani hand cuff is popularised by a specific group.
