Everybody gangster till the cover falls off and you got fire ants invading your home 💀💀💀
I would recommend putting them in a test tube For the size Of the colony And they won't need an outworld for this hibernation, from my knowledge.
Also that's my favourite species of ant right now.
You are correct! My first Queen had 14 workers with about 7 more on the way!.. but now they have blocked the nest hole. And have stopped using the out world. They have about 3 crickets and about 5 - 7 drops of honey, then closed up nest.
Every nest is awesome. Any will do 👏 Just make sure the doorways and pvc tubings fit the larger ants
Great video! I'm new to the channel so I don't know any background for your colonies but I won't move the Campo queen just yet. She's doing so well in her current setup! Her brood pile is looking good and her nanitics are fat and healthy! If you do choose to move her though, I'd make sure the total nest area is no larger than a fist. Camponotus tends to do better in a cramped environment. Beautiful colony and amazing nests! You've earned another subscriber with this video! Hope to see more updates in the future! ❤
Lights are hella cool in a nest, hella lucky
I do absolutely think you should just go for it and get the Bull Ant. And Gold Tail Sugar Ant for those nests.
As for Scarlet. Is there anyway of using the nest she’s in now. And using the reclaimed Outworld from the smashed one? I mean you can always change it up later when the colony is even bigger.
Also thinking about the banded sugar ant being a little bit bigger and those repaired cracks.
I was going to start cutting acrylic myself and do it all from scratch 😁
But yes I want to get the golden tail sugar ant for the light up nest. And I wish I could find a bull ant for my D.I.Y nest. I keep going out to the bush to find one with no luck. 🫠
Scarlet doesn’t need to rehoused yet. Give her an out world when she has 50
For exploration.
Yea yea 2mon ago.
Where did you buy that mate? The first outworld.
Don't worry about the size of the nest hole. Unless the sp is wider than 10mm (which is nearly impossible for like 99% of species), it will be able to fit through. If the nest is too large, consider blocking portions of it off with cotton or something. Be careful when using cotton though, as some ants will burrow into it and make a huge mess of the nest.
I really like your ideas! And you Put my mind at ease with the nest hole size! Thank you 😁 could I used dirt instead of cotton? Then they can build later if they want?
@@Craiginberra Dirt for a fact they will pretty much instantly dig through. It's easier if you do something they cant dig through, like a piece of wood or something. Although it might seem like dirt is a good idea since they can expand on their own, knowing ants they'll dig through it anyway just to fulfil their instinct to dig.
@AntsMichigan your on the money with one! I bet they will get bored and dig the dirt for fun 🤣 I will keep idea in mind with the wood/cotton. I like that idea 😁
@@Craiginberra Hope it helps!
@AntsMichigan all information and Ideas help! If it doesn't work for one specific species it should work for another 😁
Could you possibly do a changing test tube video please! Or on sighs you might need to change test tube. I think my Camponotus Consobrinus wants a new test tube.
Yes I can! 😁
I hope your camponotus is going to be ok in the time being!
You can always attach another test tube with tape. And put light on her and block up the light from the good teat tube.
@@Craiginberra I’m going to try in a little bit. I have everything I need, but foil. (Sure I’ve got something else I can use). I even managed to find a few test tubes 😝 I’m just a little nervous about it like I suppose most ant keeps are their first time. I’d hate to cause he any harm. But she honestly seems like she wants out especially now since her Nanitic arrived.
I have a had pretty good success with just butting a test tube up to another one with bluetack under both of them so there's still an air gap at the top have the new tube covered in Foil and the other not covered. Sometimes it takes them along time for it them to move.
@QueenCaitiePie don't be nervous 😁 it's cool they all group up together in the test tube, well the colony is still little they won't try escaping.
But another comment says use blue tack thats also another good way to do it 😉
I live in Russia, where keepers are poorly developed. What species do you keep? What are your most popular bloggers containing ants?
At the moment I keep such species as: messsor structor, messor barbarus, temnotorex sp., lasius flavus, tetramorium bicarinatum. Recently my queen camponotus fedchenkoi 1/6 died
I love Russia 🥰 im Slavic living in Australia 😄! Novo ants is a good channel!
I keep Camponotus, iridomyrmex, pheidole, lasius, crematogaster. And a few others I don't really know the species of. All my ants I find in the wild I have only payed for 1 colony my Camponotus aeneopilosus.
Im sorry to hear about your passed away Camponotus 😔 may she rest in peace.
@@Craiginberra Ants of this species are very nervous, they often eat their brood, well, that’s what we think in Russia. I initially thought that I would not be able to develop this colony.
Moreover, I bought it for only $10
@AlmazAnt yes camponotus are nervous. I have one camponotus colony the queen has eaten its brood 2 times now. I don't think she will make it at this rate.
$10 that's nice and cheap 😁. I bought 1 camponotus species for $70!
Man you got robbed with those nests. I got the same one what lights up from Aliexpress and the 300 dollar one I got from Amazon for 70 bucks. Where did you get yours from?
Got mine from some app called shop.. I'm in Australia but, what about yourself?
If you have a green head, Ant colony that has 100+ workers try putting them in there 4:36
They are really nice ants! Good pick! I don't have a colony at all of green headed ants.
This season you should try looking for green head ant queens pls
@Kentuckyants-shorts im always on the hunt! I see many colony's, you think it would be wrong if I try to take an established one?
Well, I’ve heard from many ant keepers, that you shouldn’t take an established colony, but I think it would be fine because I take a established colonies the time in the summer when I have trouble finding queens
@@Kentuckyants-shorts I did it once about 3 years ago when I first started ant keeping
you are from AUSTRALIA?
Yes indeed
e lnido con luces no lo uses se te meten hormigas chiquitas
I wanted to put a bigger species in the light up nest! 😁
