I never understood what exactly he was apologizing for! It never fully clicked for me. Thank you for finally putting that to rest, and as always, introducing even more things for me to notice and think about.
It's my pleasure. 😊 I think it was a confusing scene for many, including me, at first. Partly because it's just so funny, it's hard to look past the cuteness! lol
I wonder if Crowley is to be trusted with the "i don't do the dance" since it feels like something that his character would say but in the same way he says he "is not nice". Maybe he has done the dance in the same way he has been nice before, he just doesn't like to acknowledge it
I've wondered the same thing. They can both be a bit less than honest about the relationship. In part (I think) to remain vague & under the radar for up(down)stairs. Aziraphale doesn't comment either way, just blows past it & reminds Crowley of the times he's done the dance. (And he's still a bit salty about it.😂) The fact that Azi doesn't acknowledge Crowley's claim makes me really suspicious. I think most long-term relationships have a learned way of not rising to a topic. Over the years, there have been occasions that a well-meaning friend will point out something similar to my husband & I and one of us will typically respond "Are you *trying* to start an argument?" My husband and I both admit that there are some really petty things that we just don't acknowledge because they're "fight starters".
the bit on potatoes. I was expecting something about the Crowley's line in the Edinburgh cemetery: 'you say potatoes, I say excellent!'. Love the go compilation tho. Good job!
“I really don’t know what ‘I love you’re means. I think it means ‘don’t leave me here alone’” Is literally so reminiscent of Crowley when he tells Aziraphael “don’t worry, I won’t leave you here alone” (might not be a perfect quote but I’m lazy) which to me is him saying he knows he loves him and loves him just as much. Maybe I’m overthinking it, but I think that’s an important detail, and why it was so heartbreaking for them both when Az came out with “I forgive you”. Maybe in that moment it was his way of saying “You’re wrong, I don’t love you” because he ‘forgave him for leaving’. That’s why he so quickly mouths “no” after, because like we all know, it’s a bloody lie. He’s saying (at least to himself or the audience) “I do love you”. The reason denying it is so important is it means Crowley believes Az either, is choosing to help people over even his own feelings, is hiding something, is protecting him, or is telling the truth and honestly doesn’t believe his feelings are what they do clearly are. Just to sum up some rough ideas, basically that denial is a message to Crowley, but it doesn’t leave him thinking he’s actually unloved. I think that’s what we’ll see next season but who knows maybe I’m just desperate
Don't know if this would be considered an easter egg, but there's an early on episode of Dr. Who (where Rose is the companion still) where Mickey says something along the lines of "what do you want, an apology dance?" But given the amount of Who references that popped up in Good Omens...
I like the concept of an apology dance, especially tween proud persons within a relationship cos it's not just saying sorry but a literal physical demonstration that says "I admit I was in the wrong and hurt you, as such i am willing to take a hit to my pride to show you I care". Often saying sorry isn't enough in any relationship to fix the hurt, cos it's an easy thing to say without meaning it, but turning it into a small ritual within the relationship that shows the apology is fully intended, felt and sincere.
what adds to S3 having a parallel to crowley going to heaven to get info is that the dancing together in ep 5 could also be seen as a love confession, just to aziraphale's standard (crowley saying 'humans stare at each other & kiss' aziraphale saying 'people dance together & realise their feelings') just like crowley's (attempted) confession before aziraphale leaves
I think maybe Crowley has a certain amount of shame or defensiveness about being a demon that makes it hard for him to acknowledge when he's wrong about something. So I sort of applaud that he can swallow his pride enough to do the dance so that he and Aziraphale can get past the issue and move on. That's friendship.
I think the dance could also be a way of confirming what Nina and Maggie said at the end of episode 6. They said that Crowley and Aziraphale don't really talk and the dance is a way for them to apologize without really talking about what happened, without communicating. Maybe they only do the dance on an occasion when they've talked about what to do, but haven't reached an agreement, then one of them understands that he was wrong and apologizes through the dance, as we can see in this case. Btw I love your channel! :D
unsure if it's a significant detail or not (knowing this fandom, it probably is), but i've noticed that in both 1793 and 1941, aziraphale does something that puts him in serious danger, something which is pretty rare for him. in 1793, he waits for crowley to rescue him while chained up and in danger of being beheaded. in 1941, he deals with a nazi spy ring and almost gets himself shot- twice. i suspect that there's another reason for both apologies, as well as the one in 1650, but it's just interesting :3
@@chrissylazar I think it was a comment on the way Crowley was dressed, and his hair do. Azirafale looks at him gazing at him up and down and then says “good lord” with a bit of a look of distain.i think it was a comment on Crowley’s choice of attire since we know how important it is to Azirafale. Remember, while he was still occupying Madam Tracy’s body, he says “I am THE dandy of the south (something like that)!” Being properly dressed is important to him.
I love your analysis of this, particularly that the point of the dance is acceptance and not forgiveness, since we know forgiveness is SUCH a sore subject with Crowley. It occurs to me that when he refuses to go back to heaven with Aziraphale, he's asking for acceptance rather than forgiveness as well - "please accept that I'm not an angel and it would be too painful for me to go back there." Too bad Aziraphale hasn't yet figured out how to articulate that he does accept Crowley as he is 😭
That is SUCH a great point, thank you! I think a lot of people do think Aziraphale still wants Crowley to change to be an angel, but you are spot on. He does see him and accept him as he is. He's just terrible at voicing that (perhaps due to being forced to hide their true natures for so long). It's an extremely sad situation. 😥
"You are a demon - obviously", was the first thing Aziraphele said, as he saw him on the walls of paradise - but still they spoke with each other, not fighting, or accusing the other of anything, although the thing with the flaming sword made "Crawly" very interested in the Angels mind-set. Now he always tries to push the boundaries, but keeping the angel back, if he fears to push him too far to "the other side" (because his friend would not like it, not being an angel anymore). Calls himself "unforgivable" (job-description of a demon), but lets "his angel" walk all over him and coming back all teh time to save him from his own follies. 1941 has still the issue with the Zombie-Nazis, eating the brains of Londoners
Considering that nothing in Good Omens is a coincidence, I belive we have a pretty good chance of seeing the 1941 apology dance. Although I would really love a flashback to when/how they came up with it! Great video, and its a very helpfull one was well since, I'll be honest I tend to look at them as two characters that don't really have an effective comunication. With the way you explain and contextualized the dance well, it just adds another layer of complexity to them and their relashionship!
My pleasure, and also thank you! They do tend to hide information from one another, (and also maybe from themselves) which is their main communication failing, I think.
I do want to see Azirafale do the apology dance. Certainly not an apology dance because as many people think he “should “ but once of the dances he did in the past. I suspect he came up with it on his own. I can’t imagine Crowley asking him to do one. It would very much fit his character to just make it up when as a way of appeasing Crowley in a tense moment.
It was a good analysis, and I think it's funny that he said " I don't do the dance " 5 seconds lates he's dancing ( We need Aziraphale doing this dance in season 3 )
@@Sendaryawhich always struck me as interesting that Crowley knew the steps to that dance. I mean I guess everybody else at the ball did too, but Aziraphale must have been the only one who studied it as God said he is the One angel that dances, and that demons do dance.
@@_Mahh.C.Silva_ yeah he's literally the only angel that dances because he learned to the. So he must have studied and learned the French country dance. I believe Aziraphale manipulated it into the mind of every human, but Crowley knew it. And he knew it better than whatever he was doing in the seventies in season 1.
I thought it was just a fun scene, but the dance acts as a bridge in their communication as well as a sign how their relationship has evolved. It makes so much sense❤ love this.
I sort of love the headcanon I’ve seen around Twitter that Crowley came up with the dance for Aziraphale not really expecting to be the one to perform it someday
You make really good points. At first watch I didn’t want to pick a side, both were valid and I thought Crowley simply apologized so, Aziraphale would let him help. But then I wondered maybe he apologized because he came across as controlling. Instead of being honest in why he didn’t want to help Jim/ Gabriel he said I don’t want him to disturb the peaceful existence I carved out for myself, at that moment he didn’t put Aziraphale’s feelings into consideration. He also underestimated Aziraphale as he did test out Gabriel before helping him. Gabriel hates consuming food and seeing him drink the hot chocolate probably alarmed Aziraphale that something was wrong. Muriel later proves it when they disguised themselves as a human police officer they couldn’t bring themselves to drink the tea. I do think your points makes more sense and have more meaning. I do hope that in season 3 Aziraphale and Crowley learn to communicate more.
Husband and I have instituted the "Apology Dance" into our relationship, making both of us feel like right idiots. Nonetheless, it does seem to soothe wounded feelings and send our son into gales of laughter. Poor kid needs to get out more...
That's adorable! Perhaps feeling like right idiots is okay of why it works so well. It's disarming and charming. I love that this little dance is a ritual you and your husband have adopted. I think anything that works, works!
Thank you for saving the apology dance for me. I've seen a few people being angry at either Aziraphale or Crowley (mostly Aziraphale) and the request for the apology dance was framed as something abusive. But I never thought it was, and the two of them are far more attuned than that. I'm glad I saw this video and I agree with this perspective: it works well for them, there's no malice afterwards, and they can get on with what needs doing without any negativity. Love it!!!
Question: we know how humans can think & behave for the most part, but do you think that we (as humans) have been able to reasonably define and/or comprehend how angels & demons & Satan & God think & behave? How? (I would love to hear thoughts) From historical sources, is there a consensus? Also, is/was anyone shocked to witness what pricks Gabriel, Michael, the Metatron, etc, really were most of the time to each other & had the ability to behave so humanly? I didn't expect that in a "heaven" related character trait. I mean, Aziraphale & the Constable are kind most the time & those others seemed to just have a chip on their shoulders or be so callous? Also, I expected a bigger response from Satan. I didn't understand just the "flip the switch" magical poof & disappear without more of a fight. I mean, really, Adam had that much power over Satan? And now Adam is normal non-demon now? Was Adam basically just a pair of shoes to Satan? The whole personalities of higher ups threw me.
Two cents worth of personal opinion, 8 months late: I think the way they behave is directly related to their power level. Gabriel is one of the highest angelic ranks there is, and therefore has probably never run up against anyone not kowtowing to him. Muriel is one of the very lowest ranks, I think, and is essentially a minion. She can’t lord it over ANYBODY, and also has never had to do anything of significance. First trip to Earth. She is innocence incarnate. “Jim” is almost as sweet as Muriel, because he’s totally innocent and powerless. Disclaimer: my view of the TV show is derived entirely from the clips here on TH-cam - I don’t have a subscription to Prime. But I’m QUITE familiar with the book.
As an autist who straightly says what they think, it still confuses me why Crowley does that apology dance instead of telling what kind of sh*t Aziraphale got himself in. This still feels weird to me, because I can't think "around the corner" like that.
because it wouldn´t change the situation. It would not change what had happend. both know, it will be challenging, but Aziraphale always helps others, no matter the personal costs.
Interesting scene analysis! Also when you mentioned harmony after the dance it made me notice for the first time the yin and yang imagery when they're looking up after their joint miracle 10:45
@emjolyn OMG! I had never seen that, visually, in that scene before, you are right!! The way they are facing and the curve of their bodies against the portal rug is clearly meant to evoke that specific image. Great evidence of their harmony at that moment. Well spotted!!
I love the dance for 2 reasons. Obviously, #1 is that it's so cute, sweet, and funny. But IMO it's also CLEARLY evidence of how married they are. (Just like "Do *WE* know a Jim?" is a very married thing to say.) I think every long-term relationship has a way of just dropping things and subtly acknowledging that it's put to rest. My husband & I do this thing (we picked it up from a movie/tv show but I've forgotten which one) where I'll say "Good" & he responds "Good" then I say "fine" and he responds "fine" and that's it. It's our ritual for acknowledging that we just want to move on with our lives instead of continuing to bicker about some petty thing.
Yes! Brilliant example of a real life, thank you for sharing that. It is very married. As is the "Do WE know a Jim?" which is one of my favorite lines from episode one for just this reason! Thank you for the excellent comment. ❤
I was going to do homework, Sendarya. I was GOING to do HOMEWORK. I was on here to turn on some lofi, and saw the thumbnail and couldn't resist the temptation. Also, no regerts. As usual your video and analysis is absolutely incredible. Okay, my favourite idea about the birth of the apology dance was in a fanfic I read - that it was in 1650 to win a bet about who could go the longest without Miracles, and Crowley won, and a dance of admission was his prize. I forget which fic I read this in, but it's now my headcanon.
Crowley loves Aziraphale and would do anything to make him happy, or to repair a rift between them. Even if it was a little bit humiliating; even if it seemed disproportionate to the seriousness of the offense. He preserves a little bit of dignity by being grumpy about it. But Aziraphale knows Crowley's true feelings, even if he doesn't really know what to do with them--or his own.
Nice analysis, as usual. I remember being a little torn my second time watching season 2 and wondering what exactly Crowley thought he was apologizing for. After all, everything that he learned from Beelzebub was more or less proof that HE was right about how much trouble Gabriel/Jim would bring them. But I think your explanation, that Crowley was apologizing for telling Aziraphale he was on his own and breaking their agreement, makes a ton of sense. Imo it's definitely further proof that by this point in the story, more than ever, they view themselves as a unit and there's a general understanding that a problem that impacts one of them is a problem that impacts them both. I think it also provides another angle from which to look at the final scene between the two --- particularly Aziraphale's perspective. In that moment, Aziraphale reaches out once again asking Crowley for help in a very clear and concise way, notably begging him for it. And Crowley outright refuses. That must have felt like a massive punch in the gut. Especially when you consider that in the first episode of the season, Aziraphale tells Crowley what he wants but then snarkily adds, "But if you won't [help], you won't." And Crowley storms off in a huff --- but given Az's later reaction to Crowley's return, I have to think that on some level, he's been expecting him to come back. He trusts that Crowley wouldn't REALLY leave him on his own (because as he says in 1941, "I knew you'd come through for me. You always do"). But at the end of the season, he once again makes it clear what he wants, and emotionally says, "I NEED you." He's being so real and open here, no snark, no pettiness. And even that --- his honest pleading, isn't enough to sway Crowley. Obviously it takes two to tango and they both screw that conversation up big-time in their own ways, but I can imagine how terrible that must feel. He trusts that Crowley will always be there to look out for him, even WITHOUT him having to ask. But this time, he isn't, because the one thing they won't do for each other --- which they both seemingly fail to understand they're asking each other to do --- is sacrifice who they are as individuals.
Excellent, excellent points and observations. I agree! Spot on post. Bravo! You are so right about that "I NEED you!", it is completely emotionally honest. Thank you for this fantastic and well thought out comment! 💗
It blows my mind how much the argument is a parallel to the last argument. Aziraphale saying I want you to help me with this problem, take care of Jim / take care of heaven, and Crowley saying I want you to value US / safety and forget about this problem. What breaks my heart is right before Beelzebub appears to Crowley in the bentley. Because he's having a quiet sad moment and he's not quite angry anymore but it looks like he's thinking why can't I be as important to him as doing good on behalf of the archangel that tried to kill him. This video though did make me respect Crowley even more for coming back to Aziraphale and doing the apology dance. Before I always assumed it was a perfunctory display, to get past this and move on to protecting him. But he really is apologizing and acknowledging to leave him alone.
My theory is that he actually didn't think he did anything wrong, but he was worried about Aziraphale after what Beelzebub told him and since Aziraphale made it clear that he was going to try helping Gabriel with or without Crowley, Crowley knew there was no point in arguing further, he just accepted that in order to protect Aziraphale he had to be on his side, so he did what he had to do to get over the argument and work together.
Oh, Sendarya, knocking it out of the park yet again! I wholeheartedly believe their relationship goes a lot deeper than we think, and using the apology dance to showcase that was a stroke of genius! I also love the parable at the end. I truly believe we can learn a lot from these two celestials about love and loyalty and forgiveness and compassion. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for making this ❤️
Thank you so much for the lovely compliments ❤️This scene is a well written /acted scene, I completely agree. It's a perfect example of show don't tell, how well these two really know each other.
Hi😊 I was thinking that in S2 E6, the reason why Crowley waited for Azi to get out from the bookshop with The Metatron, was because of the arrangement, obviously he in that moment doesn't like it but he is as he said part of the group of two and he won't fail Azi again. And he told Azi the truth that he loves him, no matter what. Thanks for this marvelous analysis, excellent as always ❤
I’ve thought about that a fair amount and I’m still not too sure. Obviously our first thought jumps to the same night as the magic show and that would make the most sense although it could also be a different day for a totally different reason. I would love to see what is could have been in season three if it makes sense to the story.
@Sendarya I wondered if maybe we aren't done with the events of 1941 as they were, and those could possibly have an explanation for why 1941 seems to be so significant to the overall arc of the story. Possibly, it could give insight into why Aziraphale went to help the Metatron so willingly? Idk...
There's an interesting discussion on Reddit that I went to when pondering the question of "why the dance", but there's nothing like your thoughts in one more insightful video. Thank you! And I still can't stop marveling at the acting of David Tennant and Michael Sheen. They're so incredibly precise and convincing...
About seeing an apology dance from azeraphel it's likely to come over the fact He has done exactly what Crowley did... Taking the job upstairs leaves Crowley on his own. He may be thinking of the greater good and continuing to make a better change for things but the second coming is still the apocalypse... He looks back knowing full well he has to do more than the dance to fix things.
I think that the fact that there is no forgivness mentioned on the whole interaction is a way of Aziraphale of showing care for Crowley, because as we see in season one Crowley says something along the lines of "I'm a demon, I can't be forgiven" and we can get the impression that forgiveness is a sore spot for Crowley due to the "regret" that he shows about falling and being a demon in general. So I think that it works that well with them and they carry on so casually as if nothing had happen because deep down they know that due to their natures a formal "I'm sorry" with an "I forgive you" response could cause even more damage that the fight itself
I wonder also what it means that Crowley tells Beelzebub that there is no Book of Life, that it was something they used to scare the Cherubs with. ..he then decides to believe her, but I feel like this might be true, that it's a big red herring and hence why Gabriel and B were able to just run off and why Metatron needed to separate Aziraphale and Crowley because the so called sanction isn't real. You are so right about this, I had wondered what Crowley said wrong exactly, and it's true that Aziraphale said clearly he wanted help, and he was so soft at that point, and Crowley met him with anger. I don't know if there will be flashbacks in S3, at least not many I think. Neil has said it won't be romantic like S2 so I think it might be more plot driven.
Oh for sure, not romantic (until perhaps the very, very end). But s1 had a bunch of flashbacks, all in one scene, but a bunch of eras at least. We'll get that at the very least, I'd bet on it.
I had also been thinking whether we'll get flashbacks or not in s3. I think maybe one scene in the beginning, like s1 and s2 had (maybe Crowley's fall?) and then perhaps something like the s1 montage, but probably a bit shorter, just a few plot-relevant scenes, no filler (just to be clear, I loved the filler in s2).
@@marial870 Yes good call. I think that it would make a lot of sense if Aziraphale gets to see a recording of Crowley's fall. I can see them wanting him to see it, and I can see it backfiring on them..
I actually think instead of seeing a flash back of Aziraphaele doing the apology dance it would be interesting to see him disagree with heaven and what they expect him to do in his new roll. Then he goes back to earth and does the apology dance to Crowlie. However idk if I want to see Crowlie accept it.....or for the first time reject the dance to let Aziraphale know just how bad he hurt Crowlie.
Wow, brillant topic! I think you are right with most of your conclusions. I also seen this scenes quite a lot of times. I’m not sure, if Crowley apologized for something he said (although that was his statement). I believe he apologized for leaving Aziraphale on his own after he found out (from Beelzebub) in how much trouble the angel is. This little dance is also called “The I was wrong dance“ and Crowley was wrong in leaving Aziraphale behind. I don’t expect to see a dance from Aziraphale for something that happened in the past, but much more for the things he said to Crowley in the final 15: “Nothing lasts forever“ and“I forgive you“. This are two heartbreaking reasons for a dance.
I am hoping for a scene in season 3 where they both do the apology dance to each other. It keeps playing in my head of a perfect finale, based on the idea they both left each other but both for what could turn out to be in the long run the right reasons. Even though neither knew it at the time, but learn it along the way. Crowley will learn why Azi had to go while Azi will learn why Crowley couldn't come. To protect each other. Too many ideas dropped about the Book of Life. Azi I think has to find it.
I now have headcanon that they have several other traditions accumulated over the years that would look just as weird and/or kinky to anyone else, even with context 😁.
I still think abandoning "Jim" was a good idea. after crowley drank laudanum and then disappeared for a while, crowley was next shown with a cane. did az ever ask what happened to him? he didnt seem worried in his diary. but there is an inference of crawly being harmed. kind of odd its a bit one sided
It isn’t. Sure Jim/ Gabriel was terrible but so is the rest of heaven. And they were planning the second coming. If they abandoned Jim heaven would have found him and Michael would be the one in charge. They would still go ahead with the second coming without Aziraphale and Crowley being none the wiser until the second coming happened. And they wouldn’t have any idea in how to stop it. At least with protecting Jim Crowley found out what heaven has been planning. It was revealed that the Metatron hates Crowley and I wonder what else he has been planning.
Even if Aziraphale didn't care for Jim, knowledge is power and something clearly unusual happened to Gabriel, and he seemed to remember 'something terrible' that was about to happen. Aziraphale clearly had to consider the options and decided which is best in his opinion, mercy for Jim and worry over details unknown to him taken into account
Snek-eyes on Tumblr made a keen observation that when Crowley got recalled to Hell, Aziraphale calls out for Crowley twice with a panicked expression on his face, right before they cut to present day. He's not particularly emotive in what we hear of the diary entry, but he definitely looked worried. I think Crowley's grand gestures of love can sort of dwarf Aziraphale's more subtle ones, but we do hear him express fear and worry a few times about the possibility of Crowley being destroyed, and we see how he looks at him, and know how good with a capital G Aziraphale thinks Crowley is. He trusts him. I think a big part of the reason it looks one-sided is *because* he knows what Hell can and will do to Crowley. They got reminded of how risky it is in 1941. Safer to try to keep a bit of emotional distance. Hard to keep away from someone though when you like them so much.
"You say potato, I say excellent !" a link with the apology dance ? 👀 As usual you blowed my mind ! That's why I'm not convince by a proper talk between us, they don't comunicate like that. I love this relation so much !
Haha, I didn't think of that line, but yeah, it does relate to that same different points of view, but in a very funny way! I agree, with you they don't communicate that way, and we won't see anything like that. They have their own special communications, and that's what works for them. 💗
Seven! ❤ I'm so not sorry! 😂 If you know, you know. This was another great video. Part of my brain is wondering something. Did the dance come before or after the words for the apology? I may be totally off on this, but what if the dance was something they added after. I don't know about you but,I can see Crowley's "stick it to the man attitude" coming into play. Since Crowley really doesn't like being told what he can and can't do. Like dancing in general and he probably projected that over on Aziraphale. Angels can't dance, watch Crowley inspire one to do just that. Make an angel dance just because he can. We're never knew why Aziraphale wanted to learn dance at all. Crowley always seems to be in the background of these things.
I remember talking about this in the GO fb group a few months ago. The way I put it was that "he was apologizing for separating the group of the two of them." That is a boundary it seems they've agreed not to break, which is why I think Crowley asked, "so this is how you wanna do this?" Makes it seem like they've discussed these boundaries before. I also just noticed that Aziraphale said that Crowley is "at liberty" to go.
He did, which is interesting phrasing. I have a note on it, but wasn't able to make a coherent point so I didn't mention it. It's he saying he's free from their agreement if he wants to be? Didn't seem like it. It's a pretty passive aggressive comment, lol.
This moment always stood out to me as particularly sad. Aziraphale issues an ultimatum, and Crowley just says "Go?" In such a sad voice. Like it's what he's been expecting to happen. No wonder he stayed in the Bentle all season (I assume his replacement by Shax is recent given how flustered she is by the apartment), I think he's been afraid of Aziraphale will have a change of heart suddenly and push him away again. I think it highlights just how precarious things have been for them relationship-wise, despite all the lusty, loving side glances by Michael Sheen lol. Crowley also never actually discusses Aziraphale's request for him to be an angel again in the final argument (aside from the "where to stick it" comment.) He just shuts down. He argues against Aziraphale going to heaven, he doesn't even talk about himself, just looks ill whenever Aziraphale mentions it. It's interesting.
This insightful video has clarified so much of what went on between them in S2: Eccles cakes to try to calm Crowley down, Crowley helping in all kinds of ways (because A said the magic words to him) and, despite the separations (or because of them?), the seemingly shared understanding they have of how their arrangement/agreement/relationship works. I have gone down the road to S3 speculation about Crowley’s history with Gabriel, not just the Metatron, and what acceptance means to A and C. Maybe Aziraphale did the dances we know of because he accused Crowley of fomenting the trouble humans had caused themselves in 1793 and 1941? Don’t know. The video made me think of “Heart of the Matter” by Don Henley which I’ll be adding to my C playlist.
I'd be interested to hear your speculation on the past relationship between Crowley, Gabriel, and the Metatron. Also, great song choice. And thank you!
Personally I see the I was Wrong dance as a bigger sign that these two don’t really communicate about what’s wrong for them. Like you mentioned, no one ever says the word sorry, only that they were wrong while other is right. And while it can be good to just apologize and move on, sometimes it can be very dismissive and not allow people to express their feelings to the other person about how what they did hurt them or whatever. And Crowley really only seems to be apologizing to make Aziraphale happy and they can get back to business, never once mentioning his talk with Beelzebub and The Book Of Life. To me it feels less like a healthy way of communicating between two close friends and more like a way to dismiss conversations that might make them uncomfortable or needs them to open up about their feelings, hurts and thoughts about their relationship. It’s not unpacking why Aziraphale felt hurt by what Crowley said and did and Crowley is not actually saying ‘I’m sorry for hurting you.’
I really hope we get to see what led to the apology dance! I also hope we get to see how they started their arrangement. Your deep dives into the show are amazing!
They have such a convoluted way of communicating things, by neccessity, obviously, to create plausible deniability to their respective head offices. Their real communication issue is, imo, in not telling each other important things; like Aziraphale encountering Shax, or Crowley going to heaven for info - they might think they have valid reasons for not telling the other what happened, but it still means, for instance, that Crowley is puzzled that Aziraphale so quickly moves to organise the traders association "meeting", and Aziraphale doesn't have all the facts before going to heaven himself.
Exactly!! Hiding information and outright lying is their biggest problem spot. They have different points of view (exactly's), but we all do, and learning to communicate despite that is something we all have learn to do. Very relatable!
And the worst is, they seem to hide those things mostly because they want to protect each other so much. It makes us viewers just want to scream at them through the screen in frustration.
So, what we got in the end is that: Aziraphael can actually communicate very clearly with Crowley, If he wants. The problem is that they still don't understand each other. So, at very end of this analysis, we can conclude that they're not bad communicators. They're stupid.
😂 Well, they are the ineffable idiots! But truly, I think they communicate very well most of the time (when they aren't lying or hiding things), especially considering how they had to hide their ties to each other from the outside world for most of their existence, so they had to develop a sort of code. It just goes to show that they both have a different frame of reference. Even people who have known each other their entire lives can hear something different than what the other person intended. It doesn't make them stupid. It makes them relatable.
Thank you for this video. I had always been bothered by the thought that crowley didn't do anything wrong and yet he was apologizing. I thought he clearly said his need for Jim to be away from him. But now I understand that he put himself above the group and left. That does highlight how even more damaging it is to Crowley that aziraphale leaves at the end of season 2. I am fully on board with the fan theory that in 1941 the zombies come back for revenge to the bookshop, Aziraphale's Derringer makes an appearance and he accidentally shoots Crowley and that's why he does the apology dance. I do hope we get an explanation in a 1941 flashback of why nightingales is their song, but I also don't think it can be anything too explicitly romantic because their history of misunderstanding each other goes on. The season 2 1941 episode changes the meaning of you go too fast for me, and the meaning of perhaps one day we'll dine at the ritz. It would be weird if Aziraphale's 1941 apology had anything to do with an almost kiss or Crowley going too fast, or misinterpretation of signals, when they continue to believe for another 80 years that each is alone in the intensity of their feelings.
Excellent points about why an almost kiss wouldn't work in 1941. I didn't know that shotting Crowley on accident was a widespread fan theory, that's such an interesting idea!
@@Sendarya I don't know that it's widespread but I've encountered it in a popular piece of fiction and some Facebook posts. And it makes good sense to me that the Derringer would reappear. But I've also heard that people want an almost kiss that changes the meaning of I forgive you to, I forgive you for breaking our agreement to never talk about this again. And I don't think Neil would change the meaning of I forgive you in a season 3 1941 episode. I agree that everything in the final 15 needs to stay the same.
Yes! I just started rereading with the reading group, and spotted this. I thought, well, this came a week too late! lol. But thank you, that is correct! :)
You keep me founding stuff that gives me hope. I agree that we'll see a parallelism in season 3 of one going on his own unexplained to fix the situation, and I do believe the agreement is still on no matter how much Metatron tries to separate our Ineffable Husbands. I loved this video, you achieved to make me laugh and smile a lot with this one. Thank you so much for your awesome work dear Sendarya! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
I think in season three aziraphale will try to do the i was wrong dance to apologize but its not enough because by then Crowley is mad and in tears not even paying attention to aziraphale. And i think that it would be so good to see especially because the dance seems to be their highest form of apology, aziraphale can see how badly he hirt Crowley to the point where even the dance cant help, i think that would be so well acted if it does happen.
1) To me Crowley manifested the lightning from within. He's very powerful. 2) I think Aziraphale did the "I was wrong dance" after the Bastille (1793) and in 1941 because his actions, accidental or intentional, put him at risk of discorporation. We know there's a lot of paperwork involved and can extrapolate that recorporation tends to take a while, leaving the other on their own. (Or cheat and just possess Mme Tracey) In 1941, not only does Aziraphale put his safety at risk, but he does so at Crowley's hands. Azi forced Crowley into a situation where he might have discorporated him and had to witness the gruesome death. 3) Therefore we're only missing 1650 4) I like to think the dances are improvised at the time of the "I was wrong" dance to amuse the recipient
You think Aziraphale did the apology dance to apologize for almost getting killed and leaning Crowley? I haven't heard that take before. It's interesting. Interesting too that he didn't do it when he actually did get discorporated in the fire and didn't apologize for that. But could be that he didn't apologize for that just because he didn't leave he came back to Earth against the orders of the quartermaster, and was called a sorry excuse for an angel in heaven for it, to which he said I suppose I am. I do start to think that the end of season one is romantic as well as problem solving. Aziraphale knows the world's ending and goes right back to Earth and tries to find crowley, he gives Crowley a direction of where to meet him and then Crowley drives through a wall of fire to get there for him.
@@theonlylunchbox well he wouldn't have apologized for being discorporated in the bookshop, because he didn't cause it. I think his apologies were about putting himself in completely avoidable, mortal danger. If their greatest fears are being left alone, and Aziraphale is purposefully flirting with danger that could mean leaving Crowley alone, he owes an "I was wrong" with the "I did something stupid" part implied.
Well he kind of did cause it by accidentally stepping into the portal. He wasn't this discorporated in the fire he was discorporated in the portal. But Crowley didn't know that. Would Crowley think he did something stupid by opening the portal and trying to contact God? Probably because he already called him an idiot when he told him he was going to do that.
It's not really related to this film but I just thought.. Isn't it lovely that we're all here, discussing and exciting about all those threads, easter eggs and simply azi&crowley. I don't know it feels kind of beautiful knowing that I'm here, just sitting on my bed in some country and you might be across the world writing another theory comment ❤ (Oh what it's night time, I got sentimental)
This isn't Crowley's first "apology," though. After they got into a fight in "Hard Times," Crowley chased after Aziraphale in the subsequent episode once Hell figured out that he botched the baby swap. He uses the apology not as an admission of wrongdoing but as a means of getting Aziraphale to comply. There is a similar sense of urgency in the apology dance in which Crowley performs it right after Beelzebub tells him about the "extreme sanctions."
I really appreciate your videos. This one I'm not sure about though. Assuming you want some honest feedback, as a clinician who's worked with (sometimes horribly) traumatized people--hurt by other people--yes, the story came across as preachy and simplistic. (I am personally touched by trauma as well). Not that you meant it this way, but I've unfortunately had patients who have had similar little stories and maxims flung at them by good-hearted people urging them to forgive, as if it is as easy and one-time as setting down a burden voluntarily picked up. People say this to others even if they know they've been hurt continuously and deeply over time. It can be alienating and shaming to people who choose not to or cannot forgive; who find their anger empowering or even a shield holding them together.
I appreciate the feedback. I actually learned it while studying dialectical behavioral therapy. And it is in relation to a story, not real life. But I do understand your point. Parables, biblical or otherwise, are not always great examples for living people.
Thanks for this analysis! Now I really want there to be some sort of apology dance in season three, because neither of them left that final scene knowing exactly what they did that hurt the other one.
I think the apology dance is a tool so Crowley can say to Aziraphale "No I want a proper apology" which will mean Aziraphale has to speak honestly about his feelings. Because Aziraphale has always acted towards Crowley as a friend (more than a friend really) but always said things like 'we're enemies'. I think Crowley will demand clarification.
@@Sendarya I was showing 3 of my friends every single episode of good omens and one my my friends who has already seen a bunch of the show decided to recreate a few of the scenes and the apology dance was one of them!
One thing significant thing I remembered is that until 1941, they were only shown having lunch rather than breakfast or supper together....I think? Or at least that's the only meal where we see one of them invite the other to until then. Maybe until 1941 breakfast or dinner (eaten right after bed or before getting into bed) were too intimate for them?
I think a part of the reason that Crowley did the apology dance was that he knew Aziraphale would not let it go(he didn't want to miss his chance to see Crowley dance😂) and he wanted to move things along so that he could protect him.
Hey I just rewatched your azi costume breakdown and you mention a medal ish thing he wears post 1800. There is a deleted scene that takes place in that year where azi is awarded a medal for his work on earth. Could that be the same medal? Have you heard of this scene?
I can't help but compare the apology dance to the 2 times Aziraphale says "I forgive you". Whereas the dance is an acceptance and it brings them closer together, the forgiveness feels more like Az pulling away into his role of angel. It's not about their "us", but Aziraphale the angel vs Crowley the demon. If the apology dance is to apologize for saying he wouldn't be there for him, I think Az owes Crowley 2 more dances. ;)
Hello. Meta Monday thoughts: the apology makes the Final 15 even worse. Aziraphale could be forgiven for thinking Crowley would be amenable to going back to Heaven. After all, they got past the disagreement over helping Gabriel and Crowley keeps helping without being harangued into it thereafter, to the point where Azi gets thirsty watching him “help” Muriel. Of course, getting past it allowed Crowley to keep tabs on Azi, watch his back, guard him. But when it came to the Metatron and going back to Heaven, Azi crossed a line. “I can’t go for that, no, (no), no can do,” as the song goes. It’s personal for Crowley with regard to Gabriel and the Metatron. All that Pride gets in the way.
lovely video!! i just recently got a chance to finally watch the second season (i havent stopped thinking about it since!!!) thanks for the great analysis. i didnt know the apology dance was unclear for some people (though i understand the confusion, too). i thought it was a cute and clever way to communicate; they can both be a little prideful, and it's hard to apologize, ESPECIALLY to someone you love and hold close to you (they know you so well!! they know your flaws!!) getting a little rant-y here LOL but the way crowley communicates may seem a little more clear to people than the way aziraphale does. to people, it may feel like aziraphale is too dismissive but he certainly has his own way of doing things and knows a different side of crowley than what the viewer sees (in my opinion, at least, especially with the "why don't you wait inside? you like waiting inside" comment LOL) anyway great video
Thank you! And welcome to the fandom 💜 I afree, the ways they show they know each other so well is very cute, and that certainly can make apologizing difficult! Lol. It's one reason they're so relatable. Those flaws and challenges they face. Thank you for the lovely comment!
Oddly enough, the potato story may have actually helped me to understand & close a loop of something similar in life. I struggled this past summer when after I would speak on Twitter Spaces, I get so down on myself for one reason or another, reviewing what I said; how I may or may not have stumbled on my words, or did I explain it properly & clearly for others to understand. I really need to get past that. I think this poem validated my struggle, and it hopefully will move me forward to not be so hard on myself & try to, I guess, understand how to stop, identify the smell, & then (hopefully) decide to understand & know what to do next and how to move forward without the darn weight of the bag & the smell. Your story was needed in my life. Thank you for listening to your heart. 😇 😈.🙂
Potatoes... ("spoiler"?) 1st, it's an absolutely lovely tale/lesson. Perhaps rather than letting a wrong burden you & fester, or basically throw it away, it would be better to turn that potato into something positive. A plant or a meal... Setting the analogy down: Learning from the experience, teaching from the experience, helping the wrong-doer grow (in a kind & actually helpful manner), so on. I'm reminded of the saying- Even the worst person is a good "bad example" My concern is people allowing themselves to be taken advantage of & harmed as well as allowing people to behave badly. Fine(?) for those who can "take it" but allowing = approval & encouragement to do it to others. Better humans = better world = better for everyone. There's a term for people with no consequences: entitled.
Im thinking/hoping now that if we don't see the first apology dance in 1650 , season 3 will have another historical flashback that shows us exactly how and when the Arrangement became the Agreement that we don't leave each other behind ... I think 1650 is ripe with historical context for that kind of revelation... And it's interesting if it's Agreement going forward until the Notpocalypse and after that point they're basically acting as a couple all over the place.
I like your channel very much! You can express in words what is swarming in my soul and what I can't express in words myself. Your thoughts mostly coincide with mine, and I'm so happy I found your channel after watching s 2, and now I'm looking forward to every video of yours, thanks for your work 💘
Perhaps the apology dance is performed by Aziraphaele before the events we saw in 1941. The day before, a few hours before. I really don't know, but it might have to do with the "fraternizing" that saw them part ways so bitterly in the previous century. .....Or did Aziraphale really try to give something in exchange for the books to Crowley after drinking wine with him in the bookshop ;P
Sendarya, I would love to see you analyze the reasons behinds Crowley’s obsessive stare/fixation on Aziraphale when he consumes food. The ox rib thing is temptation, but what about all the other times (ex. The Ritz).
I've become really curious about the eating and staring too. When they're at the Ritz or the coffee shop, Crowley seems to only ever have a drink in front of him while Az eats food (ex: at the Ritz, sometimes multiple dishes on the table on his side, and the cake at the coffeeshop). And Crowley just openly watches him enjoy the food, neither of them finding it unusual. I think them eating ice cream together in the park before the bodyswap is the only time I've seen them both have food at the same time.
Very interesting perspective on the Why of the apology dance in S2 & general lack of a grudge afterward I read the “I did the dance in 1650, 1793 and 1941” as Aziraphale being angry or embarrassed about it. But you make an interesting point that he was angry at the refusal to participate in this ritual - give a proper apology. It also provides another point about their relationship - functional apology for them does not include “I’m sorry” or “I forgive you”. Any time Aziraphale says “I forgive you” to Crowley it’s not offered or accepted in care or with a view to moving forward. For Crowley forgiveness is something he will never get “Unforgivable, that’s what I am” so offering it is salt in a wound. Their functional apology avoids that wound and gets them back to a place where they can work together.
I love that this has been an inside joke/tradition in their relationship for centuries lol
I've had an "I was right and you were wrong" song that my family and I have been regaling to each other for years. Lol
This is the first time Crowly does the dance.
A historical montage of apology dances would be… very nice.
I need that
There's only one on film. The rest must be in the book?
The dance is also a little embarrassing and when someone is willing to make themselves look foolish for someone thay care about that's true love 💕😍
Very true!😍
I never understood what exactly he was apologizing for! It never fully clicked for me. Thank you for finally putting that to rest, and as always, introducing even more things for me to notice and think about.
It's my pleasure. 😊 I think it was a confusing scene for many, including me, at first. Partly because it's just so funny, it's hard to look past the cuteness! lol
I wonder if Crowley is to be trusted with the "i don't do the dance" since it feels like something that his character would say but in the same way he says he "is not nice".
Maybe he has done the dance in the same way he has been nice before, he just doesn't like to acknowledge it
It is entirely possible! He isn't the most honest about himself sometimes (fall, cough cough)
Well, he didn't really FALL.
he just... You know... Sauntered vaguely downwards
I love how my husband has adopted this joke. We do this dance for each other over silly things.
That's so cute! 🥰
I need that too, in my life.
the bit on potatoes. I was expecting something about the Crowley's line in the Edinburgh cemetery: 'you say potatoes, I say excellent!'. Love the go compilation tho. Good job!
“I really don’t know what ‘I love you’re means. I think it means ‘don’t leave me here alone’”
Is literally so reminiscent of Crowley when he tells Aziraphael “don’t worry, I won’t leave you here alone” (might not be a perfect quote but I’m lazy) which to me is him saying he knows he loves him and loves him just as much.
I hope they know something we don't.
Don't know if this would be considered an easter egg, but there's an early on episode of Dr. Who (where Rose is the companion still) where Mickey says something along the lines of "what do you want, an apology dance?" But given the amount of Who references that popped up in Good Omens...
I've seen dr who, Blackpool, takin over the asylum, and Broadchurch. I find many of the same words throughout. lol- nothing from Casanova...
Yeah, I bet that IS an easter egg! Well spotted!
Ohhh interesting!!
Cool!
100%, excellent point! Well spotted mirrored scenes.
I love how you slipped in THEIR back room. Yes, it's belonged to both, really, since it was built; they just didn't know it.
unsure if it's a significant detail or not (knowing this fandom, it probably is), but i've noticed that in both 1793 and 1941, aziraphale does something that puts him in serious danger, something which is pretty rare for him. in 1793, he waits for crowley to rescue him while chained up and in danger of being beheaded. in 1941, he deals with a nazi spy ring and almost gets himself shot- twice. i suspect that there's another reason for both apologies, as well as the one in 1650, but it's just interesting :3
These were my thoughts as well. I do hope it comes up again in S3. I would love to see Azirafale do the dance.
There was no real danger both times. He could have easily escaped if he wanted.
And then he says in 6 that Crowley loves "saving" him.
I don't understand the "good lord" comment in the bastille. New level of his changes to be more like Crowley?
@@chrissylazar I think it was a comment on the way Crowley was dressed, and his hair do. Azirafale looks at him gazing at him up and down and then says “good lord” with a bit of a look of distain.i think it was a comment on Crowley’s choice of attire since we know how important it is to Azirafale. Remember, while he was still occupying Madam Tracy’s body, he says “I am THE dandy of the south (something like that)!” Being properly dressed is important to him.
The tiny “mmmm, yesss” from Aziraphale after Crowley says, “I’m back” is the more adorable than a bunch of puppies.
💓💓💓
It was a good analysis, and I think it's funny that he said " I don't do the dance " 5 seconds lates he's dancing
( We need Aziraphale doing this dance in season 3 )
This is also mirrored in ep 6 with, "you don't dance" immediately followed by them both dancing
@@Sendaryawhich always struck me as interesting that Crowley knew the steps to that dance. I mean I guess everybody else at the ball did too, but Aziraphale must have been the only one who studied it as God said he is the One angel that dances, and that demons do dance.
@@theonlylunchbox but he can dance the gavotte, isn't it ? And in episode 6 it wasn't the gavotte dance
I hope Aziraphale does a big apology dance.
So he likes watching Aziraphale do a cute little dance? lol.
@@Sendarya yeah kind of, i think it’s a cute implication
Well, I hope they stop hiding information from each other! hopefully not feeling like they are constantly threatened will help with that.
That is a great point with the food! I would have never guessed that, but it makes so much sense.
Literally changed my brain chemistry. I think of this every single day.
I can't wait to see more apologise dances bit from the past especially to see Aziraphale's

Love it!!!
I'm really glad I could offer that perspective. 💗 I didn't know some people had framed it as abusive. Odd!
Question: we know how humans can think & behave for the most part, but do you think that we (as humans) have been able to reasonably define and/or comprehend how angels & demons & Satan & God think & behave?
How? (I would love to hear thoughts)
From historical sources, is there a consensus?
@@stephaniesalveter3153 I know that, but in the end, you see that Aziraphale keeps underestimating the trouble and even danger he is actually in.
“the apology dance shows us something more like acceptance than forgiveness”
no wonder “i forgive you” had that extra sting.
I feel your pain, I have dishes to do.... aaaanytime now....
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to keep you from homework!
@@Sendarya Don't you dare apologize, this blew my mind. Just wanted you to know *Temptation Accomplished* XD Stunning job as ever.
@@bodrictheredme with laundry too. fr
only i think that crowley might have asked azi to do the apology dance for less important things because he wanted to see azi dance? no? only me? ok
Who could blame him if he did, Aziraphale is adorable when he dances!
Maybe. And now Aziraphale owes Crowley an apology dance.
@@marial870 That was also my thought for a while. But I think I like this video's reading on the scene better.
I think it's very telling when Aziraphale states that he did The Apology Dance in 1941. Or maybe I'm reading too deep into it.
No, not reading too deep at all. Why do you think he did it in 1941, I'm curious?
I’ve thought about that a fair amount and I’m still not too sure. Obviously our first thought jumps to the same night as the magic show and that would make the most sense although it could also be a different day for a totally different reason. I would love to see what is could have been in season three if it makes sense to the story.
@Sendarya I wondered if maybe we aren't done with the events of 1941 as they were, and those could possibly have an explanation for why 1941 seems to be so significant to the overall arc of the story. Possibly, it could give insight into why Aziraphale went to help the Metatron so willingly? Idk...
@@jenschi3833I agree! Since it's the one year that appears in both seasons I also believe there will be more of it in season 3, I really hope so!
@teresagustafsson3527 Thank you so much! I thought maybe I was reading too much into the significance of the year.
Every day I love Neil, Michael and David more and more
Me too!
@@Sendarya yes I do hope so.
The thing i noted is when Crowley got into car seemed upset that he upset his husband.
@@ctwofirst6635 The things he said were meant, not his overall decision.
Agreed, the Book of Life has to come into play in Season 3
I now have headcanon that they have several other traditions accumulated over the years that would look just as weird and/or kinky to anyone else, even with context 😁.
There should be a law making it illegal for an advertisement to interrupt the actual apology dance!
Doh! I'm sorry. Honestly, TH-cam ads have gotten so intrusive.
The only way to avoid it is to pay for it.
Hard to keep away from someone though when you like them so much.
amazing as always! Never thought to take another look at this iconic dance but here we are
I'm telling ya what...those contacts David wears are amazing!! I love them!!!
11:36 THAT GENUINELY JUMPSCARED ME 😭
"You say potato, I say excellent !" a link with the apology dance ? 👀
As usual you blowed my mind !
Hey there, which scene is this? You mean at the end?
@Sendarya Which scene? Depends. What are you asking about specifically(which part of my comment)? I think I was just thinking in general terms.
My hubby and i have done the "you were right, i was wrong" danec for 25+ years!!!😂
How adorable!! ❤️
You said it yourself. Sometimes.
What works for one person may not work for another. What matters is if it works for you. Or them.
I really hope we get to see what led to the apology dance! I also hope we get to see how they started their arrangement. Your deep dives into the show are amazing!
Thanks you so much! 🥰
I was looking at some of your past video. This has over 2K likes. I love that your videos have reached so many people!
It's kind of stunning, really. And thank you!!
I never understood why Crowley apologized now I understand. Damn Gaiman is subtle genius
He really is!
I love how they use this in such a good healthy way. Its fantastic. Also hilarious
Per the book, The Arrangement started in 1020. It’s mentioned in the first chapter entitled “11 Years Ago”, on page 34 in my copy.
Yes! I just started rereading with the reading group, and spotted this. I thought, well, this came a week too late! lol. But thank you, that is correct! :)
I just love the humor and insights that you put into every video.
Aw, thanks Rapunzl!!
I would TOTALLY attend your TED talk. Your videos are amazing.
Wow, thank you! 😊 ❤️
3) Therefore we're only missing 1650
4) I like to think the dances are improvised at the time of the "I was wrong" dance to amuse the recipient
I don't know it feels kind of beautiful knowing that I'm here, just sitting on my bed in some country and you might be across the world writing another theory comment ❤
(Oh what it's night time, I got sentimental)
That's true, the hurt and confusion are very mutual in the final scene. A....mutual apology dance??
@@Sendarya Yes! I really think that could be something funny, then sweet, then romantic.
Alrighty!
I recreated this scene with my friend once
Well, you can't just say that and not tell more! I kid, but how fun :)
The second you said; "They are a team a group"
Like did you have to? It still hurts thank you
Hey I just rewatched your azi costume breakdown and you mention a medal ish thing he wears post 1800. There is a deleted scene that takes place in that year where azi is awarded a medal for his work on earth. Could that be the same medal? Have you heard of this scene?
Yes, I've since learned of this deleted scene, and the medal is 100% from that! Thank you. I should add a correction in a future costume breakdown.
i recently watched both season again and cried my eyes out at the end of season 2 for like, a thousand times
It's amazing how it still hurts so much 😭
I think that Aziraphale will do the apology dance in the year 1941. I liked the different story antidotes.
Yep, it really is Pride and Prejudice!! (and about 50 other things, lol)
And of course this type of dance comes straight from our Maestro Neil's experience: th-cam.com/video/FpONG-9TaxE/w-d-xo.html
Aw, that's so cute! And also a little sad, since they aren't together anymore. :(
Maybe Aziraphale had to do the apology dance in 1941 because of the "fraternizing" bit 70 or 80 yrs before :)
It could be! nothing says they do it immediately after whatever the transgression is.
lovely video!! i just recently got a chance to finally watch the second season (i havent stopped thinking about it since!!!) thanks for the great analysis. i didnt know the apology dance was unclear for some people (though i understand the confusion, too). i thought it was a cute and clever way to communicate; they can both be a little prideful, and it's hard to apologize, ESPECIALLY to someone you love and hold close to you (they know you so well!! they know your flaws!!) getting a little rant-y here LOL but the way crowley communicates may seem a little more clear to people than the way aziraphale does. to people, it may feel like aziraphale is too dismissive but he certainly has his own way of doing things and knows a different side of crowley than what the viewer sees (in my opinion, at least, especially with the "why don't you wait inside? you like waiting inside" comment LOL) anyway great video
Thank you! And welcome to the fandom 💜
I afree, the ways they show they know each other so well is very cute, and that certainly can make apologizing difficult! Lol. It's one reason they're so relatable. Those flaws and challenges they face.
Thank you for the lovely comment!
Beautiful potato story. Thank you. 😊
Aw, thanks. I was nervous about including it, but wanted to share.
😇 😈.🙂
Just found your channel and now my plans are to binge all your Good Omens videos. Love them!
Thank you so much! ❤️
I wonder how genuine aziraphales forgiveness is of Crowley for kissing him, instead of acceptance.
Is it sad that I'm more concerned with seeing Aziraphale do the apology dance then whatever he did that requires the apology dance? ☺️😂🤣
😂
If we get to see Aziraphale doing the dance I will be giggling the entire time 😆
@@angela.l.s me too! 😂
But, Michael Sheen is so charming that he'd probably produce a bouquet of flowers at the end of it! Lol 😂🤣

Potatoes...
("spoiler"?)
1st, it's an absolutely lovely tale/lesson.
I'm reminded of the saying- Even the worst person is a good "bad example"
My concern is people allowing themselves to be taken advantage of & harmed as well as allowing people to behave badly.
Your thoughts mostly coincide with mine, and I'm so happy I found your channel after watching s 2, and now I'm looking forward to every video of yours, thanks for your work 💘
Thank you so much for the lovely compliments! And welcome to the fandom. ❤️
The Ritz).
I'm not sure I could share that video on TH-cam! 😁But in all seriousness, I could explore that, thank you for the idea!
@@SendaryaThe slurping noises during the ox rib eating kinda grosses me out the. 😂
Great video! ❤🤩🥰 I love this as an analysis of part of their relationship as well as the dance etc💗🌟🙏💖 brilliant, thank you as always ❤️
Very interesting perspective on the Why of the apology dance in S2 & general lack of a grudge afterward
I read the “I did the dance in 1650, 1793 and 1941” as Aziraphale being angry or embarrassed about it.
Exactly! Well put :)
