Have a 2007 XC90 just shy of 300,000 miles. Runs Great!! I love this truck!!!! Very dependable and affordable to maintain. Always keep up with scheduled maintenance and check hoses. I always used 93 and never let it get too far past a half of tank.
Upper strut bushings squeak often... I replaced them on my 04 S60 and 07 XC90... Parts are inexpensive and easy to replace. I just sold my XC90 3.2 and miss the comfortable ride. Stay safe, Tim in Texas
I'm sure many Volvo owners have their own stories of their old cars. I got an 850 in 1993. In '99, my 14 y.o. daughter and I were riding in that car when she asked, "what kind of car will I have when I can drive?". I said, "you're sitting in it" and I could see the disappointment in her face. But two years later she was happy to have the keys to an 8 year-old Volvo. She drove that car for seven years until she graduated from college and traded in that (now-14 y.o.) Volvo on a new (in 2007) S40, which (after another 14 years) was recently traded in on a new XC60. So much for her disappointment in having to drive a Volvo!
I just love the fuel irony...👍☺️🇸🇪🇩🇰 Such a cool car! My MY2023 V60 Recharge rattles quite a bit also; havent had a car more rattling than this, since my Alfa 156 when that was launched...
Haha I just had to mention it! Wouldn't expect that from a my23 V60, omg! Guess some things can still be solved under warrenty?! Gotta love an Alfa, a real drivers brand and cars. Thanks for the support!!
I still drive my 2008 XC90, I have never ever failed my yearly inspections since bought. I use full synthetic oil. Love how my car handles 6:456:45 and have no intentions on getting rid of it any time soon . Have to date, 155,247k. Thinking of doing a chameleon colored wrap or maybe a matt red . A diffrent interior color., would be interesting but the light badge leather isn't looking too bad considering the age of the car . As for my tires, I went with Pirelli. So far no problems. Oh year need new headlights as the ones I have are pretty foged . All in all ❤my Volvo.
Hi Thom, had 3 of these from ‘03 to ‘10 and yes they all had little squeaks & rattles but I just turned up the stereo 😂 Great car for long distance cruising, we went Keycamping all those years from NW Ireland all over France, 3 kids and a roof box & still have plenty room. The ‘03 XC90 was lovely looking but it was one of the first & only had a 5spd box and was always changing up or down, never seemed happy in any gear. I changed it after 2yrs when they moved to a 6spd which was way smoother to drive. Still in a Volvo btw & doubt I’ll move now. 😊
Hi Thom, good video. We’ve got exactly the same model but 2011. We run Pirelli Scorpion 235/60/R18’s which go well. It’s a very heavy car so front suspension bushes go fairly regularly. Recently had the rear hatch lock replaced which is a common fault. Sound system very basic so wouldn’t bother ! Absolute tank but safe and sound plus good for many dogs, loading up for holidays and me ( only 1.96m!) For leather seats just use some leather balm you get for horse riding saddles.
I have a 2005 XC 90- Around 165 ,000 miles on odometer. Suggestion from me - to save on Labor Costs - (what I did to save $) I wanted to change ALL the heater hoses. So I decided to change the serpentine belt - and the thermo stat housing at the same time. About the same amount of work hours So I decided to change all those parts Hope this is of value Jon
Hey Thom, awesome car you have! 😎 I currently have special Volvo tyres on it from Continental. I’m very happy with them so far. Noise from the right panel: Not sure if it’s similar, my right door panel made noises too, especially when the bass was on 😂. So I was afraid I had blown up my speaker. It turned out to be the little plastic plate with the window button. I put a little piece of paper between it (you can hardly see it) and the vibration/noises have stopped ! 😂 Enjoy this fabulous beast, my best Volvo I’ve ever bought 🥰 *knocks on wood
I am new to Volvo but omg I love the 2007 XC90 D5 my partner and I purchased. Unfortunately, my partner is getting upset at me when I talk about some upgrades. I want to have a new DAB infotainment unit properly installed with a reverse camera so it looks like it was OEM, I want to do a paint restoration and window tint on it to help with managing the UV protection in Australia, I want to have the 12v cigarette lighter sockets replaced with USB units (hard wired) and a 2 channel dashcam. But my partner is like it's an old car so don't do anything to it 😢😢😢
haha great that you enjoy the car so much! I tend to have the same wanting to upgrade a lot on it. But here's also the partner with some other thoughts about that, lol!
Love the original XC90! Also I tend not to use leather Cleaner/conditioner on "modern leather"...I know it's 17 years old but it's still a tough modern leather with a top plastic like coating on it....conditioning it won't actually do anything as the conditioner just sits on the surface of the leather not really soaking in....I like to use a safe on all surfaces APC/Degreaser...diluted 10/1 then after it dries follow up with an interior trim uv protectant/finisher...in a mat finish of course....leather stays clean and protected but still has that "like new" look that's not all shiny. As far as the look of the original 18 inch wheels....I like OEM design wheels better than aftermarket...and on more Classic designs I think it looks better with small to average size wheels and a "fatter" side wall tire....It's what the designers of the car designed to look it's best. But that is just my humble opinion 🙂
When oh when will we get a down to earth review for us mere mortals ?? When you have two cars to chose from how the hell can you help me ???? I am skint or in U.S.A. terms NO MONIES I need someone at my level to talk me through should I get one or should I not ??????????? Even thinking of doing my own up load !!!!!!!!!!!!! Fed up with these so called reviews !!!!!!!!!!!
I almost had tears in my eyes when I heard that 5 cylinder sound. It’s so comforting to me. I miss those engines.

That is so nice Richard, I love these kind of Volvo-stories. 😊

I have a 07 XC90 with the V8. I love it. It’s a beast.

That would be suuuuuper awesome, who knows soon. 😉

No road noise? I don’t hear anything, was it edited!

Thanks, I'll take the tips along 👍👍
It is a nice car. Only the amount of roadtax you pay in the NL for it, will make you cry. 😢
Yeah it does 😂
wash over the engine cooling system cause that can cause engine overheating and piston ring fails, and change the additional belts every year
