    These are among the best ‘A’ series videos on TH-cam. Straight talking with correct engineering language. I’m reassured by them that I’ve been building these engines correctly over the years but also learning from some of the tips. Very useful 👌

    It’s obvious there is no Teleprompter being used so this is all “ad lib” which makes it even more amazing. No referring or hesitation, just pure shared experience with the most minute detail and the answers to the questions before you even think of asking them. I struggle to think when such detail was shared so freely. Reminds me of the village school master in Goldsmith’s Deserted Village that went something like “e’en they gazed and e’en the wonder grew, that one small head could carry all he knew. I admit it. Mad jealous. Great stuff.

    Just came across your channel. I just recently, last week, got my little dream car. Been one for the last 11ish years already. It is a Mini 1275E, which was made in South Africa only. I will be watching much more of your videos as they are amazing. Cannot wait to start mending and fixing up my little unit. First thing is the shifter, as 2nd and revers slips out, need to still figure that out. Other fixes I want new balljoints and bushings on the front😁😁😁

    ive also blocked the waterways on number one cylinder,ive drilled and tapped all 4 on number one but on the block as opposed to the head,known as a semi dry deck,they use this in appendage k racing apparently..also drilled and tapped the oil gallerieschanged the water pump from gwp 132 to 134, larger impellor water pump to drive the water to the far end,temperatures can vary on cylinder one to four up to 10 degrees on a race engine,thats an awful lot,great work,especially the 90* tightening of cam nut..

    You have the "Luck of the Irish" when you are taking these engines apart. Certainly with these old mini engines. Normally every single bolt is rusted on or we need hydrolic jacks to get things free but you make it seem so easy. This is obviously why you are able to smile so much during your videos. Keep up the great work and as usual thanks for great content. (great win at the weekend by the way).

    I was taught that if using a paper or cork gasket to always install them without gasket sealer unless required to do so for example the crankshaft oil seal between the engine block and the gearbox on mini engine's

    • @HREIRL
      @HREIRL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really all depends, back in the day when gaskets where much better quality in all cases I would have fitted them with out gasket cement. however now from a vast amount of experience I can say there is defiantly place for it in certain applications

    Hi Paul
    Love the proper fasteners: trying to buy them now, but without stripping an engine down to find all the correct lengths and thread sizes it’s difficult. You could do a kit as part of the HRE merchandise offering: now, THAT would be proper merch! Yeah, a T-shirt is nice, but real engineering stuff would be good. One thing confuses me: you seem to use Allen keys a lot, rather than hex drive keys on your ratchet. Must be sore on the hands...?

    • @HREIRL
      @HREIRL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Will, there is a good Idea I will get on that, I am very old school. I actully love the feel of a solid hex key its like a spanner. I do have drive keys for for the ratchets but I always reach for the keys 👍

    great vids and most helpful! I'm in the middle of rebuilding a1275 but see nothing about the issue I was
    having....cam end float. Seems like an important issue not to go over it a bit. Perhaps since you had this apart/rebuilt not long ago there was no need to get into it? I had been stumped on why my float was way above spec. After reaching out to a few others i found it was necessary to make sure the distributer gear was in place (it was not) before measuring and the fact the front stop plate was too thick and needed to be shaved down a bit

    Do you add a chain case ventilador?
    Which wayer holes did you block in your head?

    • @HREIRL
      @HREIRL  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Francisco, no chain Ventilator as there is too much oil in that area on a race motor. I blocked the first 3 holes to promote water flow down the block instead of going around the thermostat and water pump of the engine block

    • @HREIRL
      @HREIRL  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Patrick glad it was of use to you, These are ARP competition Head studs and we are given a measurement by ARP as long as the studs are with in this measurement you can re-use the stud if the stud is outside this measurement you need to replace them 👍

    • @HREIRL

      You could Tyrone however there is a possibility the grease could contaminate it so for the sake of the gasket you are better off using it on both sides or neither

    hey paul, seeing you do all this to a pump makes me think... should I do that to a new oil pump? I got one from swiftune with my cam kit and Id think its pre-checked/setup like you do, but....whats your opinion on that? Cheers

    • @HREIRL
      @HREIRL  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always check mine Luis as I have come across a few that where supposed to be "ready to fit" but when i measured them it was far from the case. In the case of swiftune I cant comment as I don't get pumps from them. It belt and braces if you check anyway :)
