never seen this befor, guess it not needed in Maine, I have a slab with cement blocks on that. it works. I think the more important thing here is for the home to have a good snow load which mine does.
Does this replace the concrete footings with cement blocks on top of them? I’ve never seen this system before.
Piers are cement columns down in the ground usually 4-5 feet deep that support the blocks the home sits on. I wouldn't put these under a home, especially with as heavy as the new ones are now. Piers keep the home level and stable. Iowa has very strict codes that have to be followed. That's why you can't bring a home from southern Missouri (or further south) up to be set in Iowa. Doesn't comply with code.
Yeah when that concrete cracks from air and moisture the home owner is screwed.. The right way is footings based on frost line, but mobile home setters rarely do this.. You're lucky to get any footing or a 2' deep footing with shimmed up blocks..
My Dad had to drill 20 somethin pipes 16ft down here in the tx hills before it was safe. Idk how people think sitting a house on something that's 5ft down is going to do anything. Unless the whole footer is that 5ft depth, then it's just a pipe dream.

I would assume this is only the piers. Not the tie downs..
When I use to help set them up, this was only the piers the home set on, the tie downs and ankers are separate.. So I'm guessing this video only covers the piers..

@@rockbottom582 That was a botched site installation not the home itself lots of shady stuff for sure though
IRC as well as HUD requires a poured footing. The minimum depth of a footing ( with zero freeze depth is 12 inches. Looks like the concrete sacks are flat on the ground. Without excavating and placing a footing under the sacks, I do not understand how this configuration meets IRC or HUD. If I missed something please tell me. I like this concept, but do not see how it would pass local requirements as shown in this video.

So just frame a box for piers and pour into them, same thing, this is no better than pouring piers with blocks on top I can guarantee you that, in fact if you pour your piers and dig into the soil 18 to 24" with gravel base it would be quite a bit better than these "jackstands"
They are correct however that they usually just throw blocks straight on the ground with no poured pads and try to get done as fast as possible
@dodd garner do you do this kind of work for a living I need some advice I’m in the market for a manufactured home and I want it one a permanent foundation what should I be looking for
it not an anchor though. to anchor you need to go 4 foot so below ground level the only anchor here is the weight of the concrete.
Wow our piers are leaning to the side.Home is splitting apart,5 different types of mold and a deadly fungus my mother 80,My son 12 and my self are deathly sick..AND this home is 2 years old..Nobody will come out I wonder should I call HUD?
Oh my god, yes you shld definitely get in touch with the fire Marshall in your area they usually get these things rectified or call your state reps because this is unsafe

If you see any car jack stand type of piers or cement blocks that home might fall over during a sever earth quake . Similar to any in the last 25 years . LA Northridge quake hundreds of homes fell off their piers . A company called Gus Guard or now if in business Stabilizer systems had a X bracing system and was one of the best . Also the home should be strapped down to prevent movement . You need to do research on what you can afford or feel best . It might cost $3000 to $6000 . My System was just under $3000 in 2009 .
Get on the internet and see the many types available . If you know a handyman friend there is also diy systems .

I want a foundation like a "site built" home has...I believe it is required where I live in Arizona. Does anyone know of this type of builder in the Southwest? I need a home.
They can be set on a crawlspace style stem wall foundation with cement piers, far superior to this actually
