  • I picked up the Ohuhu Gasifier Stove from Amazon and decided to give it a test burn to see it's performance. Take a look at the results!

    Got one. Brought it to Africa with me. Can’t find wood pellets so I just break up twigs pretty small. I find that the smaller fuel burns much better. It’s One of my best tools! Thank you for sharing.

    Let me just start by saying a FANTASTIC review of a FANTASTIC product. So many people don't know how best to use these tools. Pellets in a baggie will fit inside of it when fully collapsed along with matches, cotton balls, etc. Bundled up all in the MSR pot is a hikers cooking kit to be carried by all.

    for $20 shipped this thing is fucking ridiculous. I love it. when the wood begins to gasify and the flames come out of the holes in the rim you'll get a smoke free cooking fire that's as efficient as they come

    Oh man, you gotta love those symmetrical little jets coming out around the pot stand. Its a thing of incredible beauty! I've got the same setup, except I bought two of these stoves; one with a pot stand like yours, and one whose pot stand is more like what's on the Solo Stove. One is in the 775 ml Stowaway Pot (which I keep in a Crown Royal bag like you) and the 2nd one in the 1.6 L version. Great minds think alike, I guess. :-) Hey, thanks for the beautiful video!

    hard to tell on video but the flame looks to be very yellow and I am wondering if you are getting soot on the bottom of your pot?

      @loonytik25  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bottom of my pot is as black as it gets. I use it so I'm not worried about keeping it shiny.

      @@loonytik25 Thanks for your response. Have to say your stove is a great one to watch in the dark the streaming jets look exceptional.
      So the stove produces soot. The general issue for most folks is transference of soot to pack and to other gear and not how it looks on the bottom of a pot. Soot is also a sign of an ncomplete burn. In stove designs the big Three considerations are Time Temperature and Turbulence.When these are juggled and balanced then you won't get any soot and you will get the best possible heat output from your fuel. These things can vary with stacking technique fuel humidity and elevation above sea level.

    What is your honest opinion? I have been looking at these stoves & have noticed different weights. Ie: 12 oz to 14 1/2 oz. I suspect the weight reflects the gage of the stainless steel used in construction of the stove. There are many different brands.
    Silverfire Scout (the premier brand), Lixada, Ohuhu & several other less expensive brands I can't recall that are all essentially the same stove; at least as far as appearance. I do suspect that some are made of thicker or higher grade stainless steel than others. That is the crux of my question. Is the Ohuhu made from thicker, better stainless steel than the other brands?
    Are you familiar with these other brands? If so, what is your opinion based on this stove as far as durability & burn efficiency? I am not an ultra light gram or ounce nazi. I carry what I need & don't worry about shaving micro ounces off my pack. I am more interested in which stove is more solid & thus will last the longest. A few more ounces in my pack that ensures durability goes much father than lighter & less durable for me. Was is the real actual weight of this Ohuhu stove? Thanks in advance.

      Imightberiding I don't have any experience with the other brands but I have seen them. The burning concept is the same and I don't think any of them are any more efficient than the next. Even the DIY versions work very well. In terms of the steel thickness, the Ohuhu isn't very thick and could be damaged if you're not careful. I keep it inside the MSR pot when transporting so it's always protected. Personally, I wouldn't spend the extra money on the more expensive brands. I can replace the Ohuhu 3 times for the price of one "Solo Stove".

    Everyone who buys this stove should use it first with wood pellets and then try to replicate it using twigs which you would normally use on a hike.Too many people demonstrating these stoves fail to use them properly .This video shows how efficient these stoves can be when lit properly
