Kenneth Noland quickly realized his collaboration with sculptor Anthony Caro wasn't going as well as he had hoped because he felt he was just coloring the work whose form had already been dictated by Caro. Katharina solves this nicely by doing both herself, it's super satisfying to look at her work.
It is defiantly more sculpture than paint. Because from here on 24" screen it looks more of an invasion of the trees than an whole art piece with the trees. Except knowing sculpture and space, physically being present, I could imagine it working as a whole. Just have no idea really, without being present with that large of a space/canvas. I can surely imagine the canvas getting extremely interesting at dusk, with those trees growing out of those toned down vibrant colors and linear shapes. Walking close or through her type of work would really suck for me because as a builder my mind instantly goes to how this or that was done and everything becomes very cheap and plastic like.
The outdoor piece in the snow, nature imitating art, and vice versa ad nauseum. Gorgeous.

beautiful!
Does anyone know what was the material used on the fist layer of coating on the polystyrene?
I want to know the same thing, Im guessing a metal glaze, but a more expensive foam one that allows it to live outside and not get damaged.
Polurea coating
