Dark Shadows is great, I have not watched enough of it cause its so daunting but from everything I have watched it has been awesome. I really love the Lon Chaney Jr. style werewolves in this show, they just look so cool.
@JuassicReptile, Alex Stevens plays the werewolf on the show. Makeup artist Dick Smith did excellent special effect makeup on the entire cast. Ive been a long time DS fan. The Lon Chaney, Jr. werewolf style makeup was incredibly awesome! 😊
Hello from Canada! My favourite character is Barnabas Collins played by Canadian actor Jonathan Frid! I first started collecting the comic books when I was a kid in the 1970s. Then I started collecting the novels in the 1980s. I had never watched the show when it first got broadcast, but discovered videos on TH-cam last year. I envy you your wonderful coffin box series! Enjoy the DVDs, and stay safe! ~Janet in Canada
Dark Shadows was my early crack....all the neighborhood kids stopped playing outside and we all went in 330pm to watch Barnabas show some fangs or Quentin getting his growl on and well Angelique was oh so cool as a villian
Thanks. Never thought I'd hear the Dark Shadows theme set to unboxing. My favorite characters were Willie Loomis and Angelique, and Victoria Winters, among others. You may also enjoy some of the books that were written about the original show, often featuring personal stories from the cast. And there was a book devoted to the two '70s Dark Shadows films, including some script snippets of cut scenes.
Yep! If you want to discuss that show I love listening to good viewers discuss the NARRATIVE! At last! Fully Gothed out folks, the ones who OUGHT to be into this show.
#MadiDanger . #Darkshadows TV Show a lot, I like this box set. I like all Dark Shadows characters. I am a very big fan of Dark Shadows TV Show. Thank you to sharing this with me.
@@SiouxsieSiouxFan555 Oh... I'm afraid I am not a gamer at all ! Have only been from 90 to 93 ! I'm a french speaking comedian, musician & writer ! ^__^
@MadiDanger I met Jonathan Frid at one of his reader theater programs in Indiana back in 1999. It was awesome to have met him. He was a very entertaining with his storytelling, very engaging. He was down to earth, and gracious when I met him. I received both his autograph and a photo of us at the venue. Such wonderful memories I cherish, especially meeting fellow DS fans and a few pen pals that, unfortunately, I've since lost touch with years later. Long before social media was commonplace, fans met up at Dark Shadows festivals and such. My late fiance was a huge DS fan of the original series too. We went as Barnabas and Josette every Halloween. I'm glad to see fellow Goths getting into the series. Oh yeah, you might want to skip over the leviathan episodes as those are daunting, for one. Secondly, Barnabas is kidnapped by a cult and the plot is slower than black strap molasses to watch. But the rest of the series is extremely good. I don't have the DVD box set as it's way too expensive. Hopefully though someday I can afford it. 😊
I've never seen Dark Shadows, but I do have an old Monsters Magazine with Barnabas as the main theme in the Magazine. It's pretty beat up but is still readable.😂🦇
I have only sean the Dark shadows movie with Johnny depp. I l9ve the movie. I will have to check out the TV show I never knew there was one. Thanks for yelling me. Stay awsome and spooky.🐈⬛🦇🖤
Hi, Madi. Have you ever watched any _The Hilarious House of Frightenstein_ ? 130 episodes that first aired in 1971. The complete series isn't available on disc, but it's on Crave and Tubi. Tubi has 100 of the episodes, in order.
Ah! That’s so cool. I’m going to binge watch it for sure. Fun fact, though the interior shots were from various soundstages, the exterior shots of the Collins’ house are of Seaview Terrace, also known as Carey Mansion; located in my home state of Rhode Island. They also used Lyndhurst in Tarrytown, NY.
I've heard of Dark Shadows, of course, but have only watched the Burton movie (which I thought was fine until the disappointing finale). Does the box set include the two movies House of Dark Shadows (1970) and Night of Dark Shadows (1971)? I believe Tarantino enjoyed them when he was a kid.
Have you ever thought about Horror hosting Like Vampira or Elvira? You would be great and could use Horror films that are in the public domain to avoid copyright. I would watch.
Is this box set available to purchase or did someone send it to you? The name you said sounds like a foreign language haha! My husband and I listen to old murder mysteries every night. We would love to watch theses!
Dark Shadows is phenomenal. I've been a fan of the original series for years. Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid) is my first favorite. Second favorite is John Karlan as Willie Loomis, and Kathryn Leigh Scott as both Josette and Maggie Evans. Back in the time when DS originally aired they switched over to color from back and white. Black and white was inexpensive to film as opposed to color. Also, if that set contains the "bloopers" that's hilarious! Dark Shadows was taped "live" which meant that the cast sometimes flubbed their lines, tombstones wobble, etc. However, the strongest attraction to the original series is the complexity of storylines, the characters multifaceted, sometimes, dysfunctional family members made the show well loved, well received, and putting a 200 year old guilt-ridden, tragic, romantic vampire into the show helped it at a crucial time when DS was almost going to be canceled due to a slump in ratings. Also, it provided an escape from constant dark, depressing coverage of the [then] Vietnam War that was going on. The dynamics our country was caught up in at the time also played a part in Dark Shadows offering an escape from that. At least I read something to that effect from David Selby who played Quentin on the show.

This is so cool! I also love the early 90s revival starring Ben Cross, even though it was short lived. He was amazing as Barnabas.
I haven’t seen his portrayal yet. Im curious how I’ll feel when I get around to it since I’m such a Jonathan Frid fan
@MadiDanger He definitely played it much more serious than Depp did. I loved it when I was little, it was a shame they only made 12 episodes.
