As a member of the bourbon club for years and a friend to Barbara and Tony, the points system works to reward the loyal customers. You can be a hunter and get upset when you find a bottle at a store nowhere near your home that are set aside for members, OR you can join a store where you live and accumulate points like we all do. Taking care of their regular customers has always been a staple of Robert’s…and always will be.
@MajorXero at least when I find something, it is very close to msrp. So there is that. I've been watching the stock levels and figuring out timing to get what I want. But still buy stuff off the shelf all the time because you never know when you will find a great bottle you never had before.
Interesting video and definitely cool putting a face to the name. I see you in the livestreams of other whiskey tubers. I'll subscribe to your channel 🥃❤️🥃
Yes. Look at it this way. If you have spend or buy so much to get what you want is it worth it. Or just bypass all the unwanted items and buy secondary and get what you want when you want. My point is. Doesn’t matter if you’re buying x amount over the year or paying that day. You’re still not getting it for SRP. But people feel better thinking they’re supporting their store who’s gouging you either way.
Hey Adam! I wish my stores in my area would do this points system as they just charge secondary for all allocated bottles 😢. Oh well, thanks for the video!
What's the difference between buying Weller Full Proof at full secondary than buying a whole bunch of stuff in a point system you really don't want to get a 1/700 chance of buying Weller Full Proof at MSRP? The difference is the liquor store owners make out like bandits in these point system scams. I will pay full secondary all day and know i have my end result.
@@AmericanAndy-t2y good question and it depends on your situation. I drink more than just bourbons. Beer. Vodka. Wine. bourbons and even single malts. I buy a lot of alcohol. Even without a points system. So if there was a points system, I would be buying bottles or beer I want to drink AND have the opportunity to buy allocated bottles at msrp. But it seems you're not as much of a drinker (which is a good thing 😆) and you rather buy one bottle at secondary, which is cool with me.
Understand not wanting to sell to flippers but hate how stores like this just generalize all "out of towners" who are hunting bourbon. I look for things I can't find in my state run abc stores but I'm buying them to drink
Our state is like the wild west, and we have a ton of people who come and do that. With that being said, we only have a couple that have points or a club. We still have plenty of stores for traveling people to hunt. Join our discord we have lots of city channels to help people hunt!
That is great thing about our state you can pretty much charge or not charge what you ever you want. With a store like this you can just by pass it and go to another one
Bullshit. If I'm driving through your town and come across this store, just taking my time to come in should mean something. If I was to buy a 6 pack of Bud, am i not contributing to "keeping the lights on?" But if i see a bottle of Weller and ask how much, the owner will tell me to pound sand. Guess what happens to the 6 pack of Bud? It's a dumb philosophy and it only rewards those who are better off than others.
@@AmericanAndy-t2y And when you drive through town and buy your 6 pack, you can sign up for their club. They didn't say you can't sign up. However, access to allocation bottles is based upon being part of the club as well as volume purchased. I agree with that philosophy. If you don't then that's your opinion. Just like mine is my opinion. We don't have to agree on how they run their business. You can chose not to buy from them. Just like I can chose to support them. That's the beauty of our economy - we have a choice on businesses we support and they can either thrive, change or close up shop. Cheers 🥃

I couldn't disagree with you more. Anyone that has been in business this long, and has PAID for all of the product in her store, with her hard earned money, can do whatever the hell she wants
Liquor store owners like that guy are worse than the flippers looking to resell. If they have something sell it. Hoarding it is the reason crap is so hard to find
I disagree supporting your local customers base and charging msrp is way better than some guy buying all the Pappy at msrp and charging 1500 for it. The nice thing is they are not the only game in town. So there are stores that will go straight to secondary with no chance at msrp
What’s the difference in having a display of a rare car collection that is not for sale? There isn’t one. I sense a little jealousy there. Apparently you didn’t pay attention to the video either….its not owned by “that guy” it’s owned by Barbara Graves. 39 year collection of Bourbon and Whiskeys is not hoarding.
@MrCicisguy you don't have somebody coming into your car dealership and not being able to sell any of the cars on display. I have no issue they having a collection. Display it at home, if you display it there then at least offer it for sell. Put such an outrageous price that either nobody will want to buy it or if they do its absolutely makes up for losing it. There is absolutely nothing I own , no matter the value or how sentimental it is that isn't for sell. Want my house, truck, wedding ring, dogs, horses, make me an offer.
I would NEVER shop in this store because of their insane allocation rules. Basically they reward people who spend the most money throughout the year. Kind of like rewarding the entitled. Huge problem in this country. This puts the casual shopper out of a chance to buy anything allocated. As a consumer I want to have options and not have to become a slave to one particular store just for the opportunity of buying something. This guy basically said if you're not in the club, don't ask. What a poor business model this is. I know where not to go next time I'm in Tennessee.
