If he hasnt seen them already matt has a lot of coaching/teaching videos on youtube. Also theres at least one explaining how he comes up with groves/beats for songs and his process on layering them with complexity until they have gone from simple beat>complete song.
Nah. His style is too cookie cutter. He's really clean though, he's a human metronome. But I can think of LITERALLY 30 drummers off the top off my head who blow him out of the water
@@TheGuitarifier Matt Griener is like the metalcore version of a pocket drummer. Very talented obviously but more importantly is just always on his shit never added too much where it isnt needed. But yea with drummers like Matt Halpern or Matt Garstka out there not even being the top of the talent peak, its hard to even see where great drummers stand anymore.
I love everything except at least his snare 1 2’s have to be stronger. Like when it’s no fill it hard hit, when there is anything more than a 1-2 is light. Doesn’t match
@@Mr___f hmm....even in that regard, I feel like SO many drummers are better. He's a lil too predictable and plays the same exact accents as the guitars a lot of the time. It tends to just sound choppy and weird. Dude is a great drummer though, he's as tight as they come. Just think saying he's one of the best technical drummers of our generation is a bit of an overstatement.
In my opinion, Bloodletter, is the hardest heaviest metal song out of all the songs on the Guardians album. It's the number 1 best song out of all of them. Matt's drumming for Paramount is also the best out of all the songs, well it's the second best song on Guardians right after Bloodletter🤘 can't wait to see an ABR show when quarantine is over.
This song stuck out the most for me off Guardians. The whole album is a masterpiece though, took me a few listens to really understand and appreciate it but now it's been on repeat everytime I'm out driving!
I was literaly a Teenager, a fricking Child when I got to see and meet these guys for the first Time and honest to absolute fucking God, I'm like legit 100% sure Matt Greiner is one of the best Drummers to this day, up there with everyone you want to Name, coming up with this Shit, playing this Shit, quite literaly beautiful, dana carey, dani carey ? You know, the Tool drummer, beautiful what he does and I will still compare this to him, eventhough the Age and Expierence and what not I don't care, there has and is not anything out there quite like Matt. Period.
As soon as Sleep Token won me over with their releases...... My Heros come in and win me back. This is a straight jam, you all are god tier. I love you guys
I agree. I’ve listened to the album everyday at least once since it’s came out and empty heaven is my favorite. That intro guitar tapping gives the feeling that your trying to catch up to something and it’s getting away from you. This band conveys so much emotion through the music it’s insane.
Matt Greiner is metalcore drumming perfection. He does exactly what the song calls for, and doesn't add any crazy fills so all of the guitar parts hit way harder and the song in general hits harder. That's why ABR is so satisfying to listen to. Sure there are other bands that have insane drum parts, but that stuff gets old after awhile and sometimes takes away from the feel of the song.
This shows up on my feed constantly and each time I gladly watch it over again. This is one of my favorites from the latest album. Besides that, the drumming is top notch 👌👌 1:43 is 🔥
Guitar solo at 1:56 is my favorite part. What’s yours? (also, as always, thanks for watching).
3:20 cymbal choke
My favourite part is from 00:01 to 3:54 !❤️
It is this other kind of heavy, sounds new to me (coming from you guys at least). Love it! The small China stuff is also great.
2:43 i just love the way that it builds it self up and breaks it self down. incredible music much love from canada ♥
The mini china/splash combo before the beat down section. It sounds too good.
I love how on the more melodic songs, he's got the smiles going, and on the heavier songs, he's got that stank face going!
I love how regardless of what he’s playing he’s still just as bad ass.
Don’t blame him, some of their songs are tough to play. Lol
@@shawnanderson6573 that's not quite what I was getting at lol
... ever played in a band??
@@bigcat47 Quite a few, I play in two currently. How about you?
Thanks for putting these out Matt. My 13 year old, Asher, watches them over and over to try and figure out how to play like you. Means a lot to him

Thanks Jack, yeah he’s watched a ton of Matt’s stuff.
There’s also full drum transcripts for ABR albums too! Check the bio in this video, second link
this is the most wholesome comment I have ever bore witness to.
He’s literally THAT good.
Matt is easily one of the best technical drummers of our generation

Nic petterson from northlane eat him alive. Nic drumming was so unique and very technical.
my favorite track off the new album !!
that little cymbal diddly at the end is perfect
u mean the bit at 3:20?
@@laxattack032 thats it
@@decepti0n Love that bit!
one of my favorite parts of the entire album hahahaha
Nothing like listening to a masterpiece while having breakfast..Awesome
Lmao same. Made some crambled eggs and now I’m starting off my morning with this
@@delias17 sound delicious enjoy your meal bro
Huevos rancheros and heavy bangers
How’s Matt, Shannon and Lisa doing Pat?
I thought it was a comment about the breakdown
One of my favorite breakdowns on the album.
One of the best to ever pick up the sticks.
Man.. there's something special when a drummer can follow a guitar note for note...fucking amazing sounding.
I loooove that grove change at 1:35. So dope
This ones gotta be one of my favs, sounds so brutal !

I've watched this and Defender every morning at high volume for the past four months to get pumped. Works every time.
This song is incredible! The absence of Jake's vocals just makes me appreciate them so so much more! He articulates and uses dynamic so excellently!
The sound coming from those drums in that room is unbelievable!
I really appreciate these drum play throughs, being a self taught drummer this is primo education.
🤘🏼🥁🤘🏼 💯

One of the heaviest songs on that album! Such a masterpiece!

Can we all just agree that he is a freaking beast, and we are lucky that he hooked up with the other monsters that comprise ABR?
Nailed it
Matt is the most professional and humble drummers.
My favorite song off the album by my favorite drum dad.
As soon as Sleep Token won me over with their releases...... My Heros come in and win me back. This is a straight jam, you all are god tier. I love you guys
Best song on the album!!
One of the heaviest ABR songs. Wanna break my neck.
Heaviest song of the album def required a drum play through!
this dude is so talented and integral in this band. God bless
That buildup at the end is just so badass
Empty Heaven has to have the craziest drumming on the album. Most underrated track if you ask me and would love to see it covered.
Big fact
FACTS. It came up in my playlist the other day and that was my only takeaway. Damn these drums are nasty.
Dismembered Memory is way harder imo, but that might just be the tempo. This whole album is on another level for drums, like Phantom Anthem was.

@@Sean352Kitchen Totally agree!
God bless Matt 🙏 thankful for you and all you do
3:17 is soooo heavy!!!! 😱 and that harmonic from the guitar is just ON POINT.
Damn that breakdown at the end had to be the best abr breakdown I've ever heard holy shit
Favourite drummer of all time
I love the transition starting from 1:23 into about 1:30 sooooooo good, I wish that part could go on for a few more seconds.
Matt you are a GENIUS!!! Love the new album guys!!
Been waiting for a playthrough of this song. So juicy
He makes a straight beat so tasteful, and just picks up that solo gosssh
1:24 maybe not the flashiest part, but his usage of the effect cymbals is always on point and fits perfectly with all the songs!
Speechless. One of the cleanest drummers ever! Production is incredible as well
This just made this Monday a hell of a lot better 🤘
I’m still amazed at how amazing this song and your drumming is. It’s fantastic! 👌
He never ceases to amaze me💯😤🙏🙌💨
Can't wait for Brent's playthrough of this song. He's such a beast with those chugs and harmonic fill-ins!!! 😎
Wish the drums sounded this good on the LP, this is so nice to listen to

Absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!
I'm a guitarist, pianist, and vocalist but Matt is inspiring me to add drums to my list of instruments
My favorite track off the album. So heat
Another great one, thank you!!
These playthrough videos are what make my days bearable. 😊
My favorite drummer!

such an insane and underrated drummer in this scene. love it man
Matt thanks for your existence!
We need guardian's instrumental album asap!
who else agrees that this album has some of the best grooves/riffs since constellations
0:36-1:09 "daaah ddddd(cha)doomdoomdoom dah-doom da(cha)doom doom, daaah..." Fantastico! 2:11-End. Peaks at 3:22.
Straight banger🔥
Do not stop making these... please!!! Greetings from Cape Town
I love your smile, Matt!
Wow. Speechless again!!! I don't know how to be sincere in a text but this band will always be my favorite in the metal world.
MOAAARRRR CHIIINNNAAAAAA. Just love seeing this videos. And the production and lighting is spot on.
Best song on the new album. Love it!
This is probably my favorite song on the album
