they also run on 277 and some batteries especially the newest lights you won't find the batteries at the hardware store you will have to take it to Batteries plus or an alike store and have them made Just FYI ...

What if emergency lights stay on all the time, even before new batteries are install. Could transformer be bad in the unit?

The buzzing means it's a bad battery or it's just dead.
Sorry for the late reply. That's a common issue in Big Beam branded signs when the battery is bad.

why is it the the LED light inside are not that bright? they look soo dim.
