I much prefer what I consider to be the perfect overall size, screen size and control layout of my black RG556, but if compactness is super important to you this looks awesome.
I’ve ordered the white one, I wish it was the really bright white all over like the odin 2 but something about this device just makes me want one 😂 Spent £165 on the model with the highest sd size I believe 256gb
@@pedrozaragoza4664 it should just prompt you once you have the sd card in and launch their front end. But honestly many of their roms are low quality and broken I suggest starting fresh.
Agreed, needed Nintendo or Vita style D-pad. Also, D-pad on top would be better as well, as the 1:1 aspect ratio it compatible with more older retro systems rather than joystick games. 🍻
I am so surprised that you did not tweak the settings to allow the PS2 to run at optimal frame rate. I have seen other videos where the PS2 is running at a smooth frame rate including the bully game
thank you for the perfect review video. I bought one. But the monitor connection error hasn't been fixed yet? I would like to know how the company responds.
I already have the RG556 and love the OLED screen. Would I be wasting my time investing in the RG Cube or is the 556 better in most if not all aspects? Thx.
I think showing the older stuff running on this would have been helpful. Isn’t this thing basically made for gameboy and gameboy color? Just to see how all the old stuff scales on this would be cool. It’s not all about power. The screen on this thing is the selling point. So I think the review should have focused around the screen, not the chip. I do like how you actually zoom in for gameplay so we can see.
Does the key mapper save difrent layouts for difrent games that you run or do you have to remap each time you change game and the layout of controls are different?
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 yes, a little similar, and I agree, didn't feel good playing 2D platformer games on the Xbox D-pad. I'm still considering taking the chance and getting it, but if I return it, it would be because of the D-pad, for sure. 🍻
I wonder if this has the light bleed issue as well. Man... they really f*cked up, retail and reviewers. Probably best to wait and buy this. Let's see! Never heard anyone pronounce Citra like Cytra before. lol 20:40 It's cool, but it's limiting with that aspect ratio, powerful enough to play some gamecube and ps2 but doesn't make use of the screen, and the games that can fully use the screen doesn't need all that power and has the analog stick at the top. Its a niche device which I'm sure it scratches the itches of some folks, also it's great for reviews and content! Great review, I'm gonna pass on this though, already got too many handhelds as it is lol.
I agree with everything you said. I do want to see a beefed up anberic handheld that clears gamecube and ps2 emulation, and pushes into switch performance
for anything above 3ds rg556 is better (wider and bigger oled display), for anything below RGB30 is better (retro doad centeres cause above, price l, dimensions, quieter buttons, frontal speakers…)
I’ve never purchased a handheld like this, is the website reputable? Just want to make sure I don’t spend $200 and lose my money cause believe it or not that’s not cheap lol
If anyone can help me it would be great! Please lol I just tried adding GameCube games to the sd card. They are .rvz files. When I inserted the sd card back to the rg cube and rescan the game files the GameCube games don’t show up. I added ps2, 3ds and other games with no problem. Should I used a different emulator or different files?
I use the dolphin emulator for GameCube seems to work well I think I just extracted the Rom file and then open emulator select game you downloaded and it should play
The square screen only suits systems like the GB, GBC, GG, NG, Pico. You're a fool if you buy this to play more powerful systems that have a markedly different screen ratio.
Hey fool here 🙋🏽♂️I have completed a few GC games and it was a great experience. Also I actively the play ncaa next mod for the ps2 and that runs great too
The performance is very good wich surprised me to be honest. But the plastic feels cheap and it stinks like cheap plastic. I dont know if im the only one having this problem
@@08escothere's a demon inside your device 😂😂 , that's what recycled plastics smell like , it's just trash plastic , melted and molded into whatever you want
Game boy, game boy color, neo geo pocket, game gear and even snes where all 1:1 aspect ratios. Then it also works great for ds and 3ds screens as well so not sure what you are talking about. It makes a lot of sense.
I’d say this device is better for 4:3 than a 16:9 screen with big black bars on the sides, but def worse than something with an actual 4:3 screen. That said it’s a nice compromise for those who are wanting 3ds and ds emulation, pico 8 and gameboy along with their 4:3. As well it does great for 8:7 aspect ratio like SNES. Won’t make sense for everyone and honestly most folks, it’s a niche within a niche. 16:9 is better for those with a focus on psp, gba and ps2, but mostly is not great for retro systems. As well 16:9 is better than 4:3 for 3DS and DS, but still not as good as 1:1.
If anyone is wondering it can do 16:9 through HDMI you just have to go into the settings and adjust it.
Haha no way, I spent like 30 mins trying to figure it out. Where in the settings?

Nice review. I'm guessing you can add roms without an SD card since there is internal storage? Like direct downloads from your cloud?
Absolutely

I have a 556 already so this was a definite pass for me
on gamecube/dolphin, you stretch to fit screen and put widescreen hacks, this fill the screen without making it look stretched.
thank you for the perfect review video. I bought one. But the monitor connection error hasn't been fixed yet? I would like to know how the company responds.
Looks like there may have been one? Someone in the comments mentioned it but I haven't had a chance to test
I’ve seen some nice Wii gameplay on this, best to play Wii games that are not in 16:9
You can make almost all Wii games 4:3 in the system settings. The original Wii system had an option to switch to 4:3.
Thank you. Thought so but needed confirmation.
I already have the RG556 and love the OLED screen. Would I be wasting my time investing in the RG Cube or is the 556 better in most if not all aspects? Thx.
If you have the rg556 you may wanna skip on this one.
if the joysticks felt just a little more responsive and it could run skate. it would be the best little handheld i could ever ask for tbh..
few more adjustments to make the system run smoother on stock settings and they are sitting on a bigger bag than soulja boy with crank dat.

I love this one it's just so unique and prefect for 3ds

Yes.
This thing is cheaper than used New 3DSXL. Still contemplating, I’m not convinced that this will run all/most 3DS well.

So biased about the Genesis D-Pad, I love the Genesis.
