I have the RG35XX H and think it's a great retro handheld. The problem though is that is just too small for my large hands. The RG40XX H arrived in the post this morning and I'm very pleased with the larger screen and larger overall size.
Yeah I already have a smartphone in my one pocket, I really struggle to see a scenario whre I actually would put a handheld in the other one and when you have a jacket or a bag something like the RG40XX H is nor problem.
I usually consider these devices to be 50-60 dollar devices since they very quickly go on sale for that price. For the launch price of 70, it's kinda weird because you can get a retroid pocket 2S for like 80 and have it be a much stronger system overall. Yeah, it has a 3.5 inch screen, but it has nicer controls overall and has hall effect triggers and sticks. Looking forward to when the 40xx drops in price though because I think it could make for a cool gift.
It played Killzone Liberation PSP, something Ive never seen even a computer be able to emulate. So I was beyond stoked. Also plays the game Omikron on dreamcast pretty well too. It's my only emulator, but it works so well, and having two memory card slots is nice for switching up the operating system on the fly.
The Anbernic RG40XX H was my first retro handheld. And I must say that I do enjoy it. I do mostly play GBA (Pokémon) games with it. But have also played some PS and SNES games on it. Before this device, I was using my phone to emulate. And I must say it is a welcome change. A big plus for me was that I was able to copy the save file from my Pokémon Emerald playthrough from my phone to the Anbernic and just continue form where I left off.
I love the rg35xxH. The 40XXH however doesn't get as much love due to its design changes such as curves and RGB lighted sticks. I just must have wanted a 35XXH with a larger screen and nothing more. The 40XXH was so close to doing that.
It looks and feels like a mini Trimui smart pro. I have both and if I had to buy just one I would buy the Smart Pro for the operating system and the price.
I already have an RG35XX Plus. I was also tempted to get something with joysticks for N64, PS1 and PSP games. I chose the RG40XX H, and while I don't have it yet, I suspect that it will fit the bill as to what I'm looking for. Can't go wrong for the price. A new version of MuOS will probably be out for it soon. And I always wear sweat pants or jackets, plus carry a backpack with me, so keeping it easy to access should not be difficult.
@thomasre7276 It's a very nice device, it feels and looks pretty good. Both joysticks don't have the same amount of resistance, but for N64 it doesn't matter. I haven't gotten to play with it a lot yet, because I've been too busy, and I'm still working on finishing a bunch of SNES games, so I'm using the RG35XX+ for that. But I synced both devices with my laptop, which is pretty sweet to use the same saves. I waited for MuOS to be available on the RG40XX because I wanted to save my stuff on my 2nd SD card, but that ended up breaking things, so Syncthing was it for me.
@@ChronikSpartan it worked initially when I took it out of the box. I played for about 45 min, shut it off when I came back to play it later in the day that's when it started acting up
How do you save your games and speed up feature specifically for Pokémon games? Ibe been trying to figure it out and I can’t find any guides. It says to use the R button combined with others but that’s the reset button, and only causes it to reset
Yes it is, u gotta go to settings, and wherever it says CUSTOM on something about the display set it to FULL. Then go back to quick menu, overrides and save for content directory and resume playing.
For kids 😂 if my son see this console the first reaction it will be wtf is this old shit some games from 70s . Please where is my stream deck and don’t waste my time. So this console is for old school gamers like me 45 years old. Ok then let’s go kids 😅

Yes this is definitely better suited to larger hands!
The 4” screen is definitely welcomed.
It's definitely it's shining feature
I for one wouldn't put a gaming handheld in my pocket so pocketability is never a factor. Um... well a jacket pocket would be the exception.

Yeah pocketability isn't for everyone but it's huge for me

Yeah there is a lot of competition these days which makes it harder to stand out

You can't really describe how different it fells to a phone until you finally get one, but they are so much more comfortable and convenient to use!
@@ChronikSpartan I agree. I will never use my phone for emulation again

Yeah, sometimes less is more. I feel with Anbernic it's one step forward, one step back at times
haeche - I am an idiot.
ache - I know how to pronounce H.
You shouldn't call yourself that and you might to get that ache checked out!

Smart Pro is a really nice console, love the feel of it
Well. trimsmart is better for gba and psp games. but the resolutioin for the r4xxh is perfect for ps1/snes games

Does anyone here know why my left joystick randomly has no color and stopped working ( the left arrow button is also not working )
You should get in touch with Anbernic
Can you find/add games from within the system or do u have to add games with a sd card and computer? Very interested
SD Card and computer for this one as it's linux
Does the 128 gb version have more games or does it just have more storage for installed game?
It will come with a 128gb SD card with more games
What Gb version you have?
I need help I’ve had one for 2 days and all the sudden the GBA emulator and all the roms have now disappeared!
Have you checked if your SD card is working?
No idea how I got here but, hello!
Hey buddy, glad you're here!
Mine shuts off as soon as I push a button with a full charge. Do I need a new battery?
That sounds faulty

Can get these for £50 and your complaint is you can't take it on a family day out in London 😅
My perspective comes from a comparison to many other handhelds that cost the same amount
no difference from rg35xxh or rg40xxh exact 4 inch screen and RGB lights.
I hate rgb lights but this screen is perfect for classic ps1 gaming as i also don't like black borders
35xx has 3.5 inch screen though.
ergonomics are a bit different too
Send it to me if you don't find use for it
Haha, I gave it to my son
it gets very warm

That's a regional thing. Catholic areas of the UK and I think Nova Scotia in Canada and maybe a few others. Not common but still valid.
which one would be best for just psp?
trimui or this one
I'll have to get back to you on that as I'm reviewing the latest trimui update in a couple of weeks.
