I've been loving Nightingale, and it looks like this update brought a lot of new and returning players. The world is so unique and creative, the artists made everything so gorgeous. I wish it was selling better than those generic asset-flip games on Steam, but hopefully many updates and leaving early access 1.0 will see a lot of new players
I find the UI unwieldy and cluttered, the crafting takes too many clicks, and the workbench system unpolished. The combat is meh now and not horrible like it was at launch, which is good. I like the better, more structured, tutorial they have introduced now though.
Sandboxes are the hallmark of lazy and unimaginative developers. Creating a cool sandbox world is really not that hard, that's why you find so many games like that on Steam. I'm with you, it makes me sad whenever i see such visually cool gameworlds wasted on a game like that.
It’s a great setting, wonderful base building (with one flaw you can only rotate things a certain way and they never look straight), but it still needs to cook! The hardest part is that a lot of the explanation for how things work are in easily skippable Victorian dialogue. Other than that it’s intriguing, but needs a lot more polish
I actually quite enjoy nightingale. building is kinda wonky but I love the setting. for those trying this, most of the basic tools can be learned for free, if you find them in the world first
Don't know if you'll see this comment, but as a kid, I beta tested a block game that was EXTREMELY similar to this in concept called Sky Saga. Procedurally generated islands, pve, focused on building and adventure. They made it as an MMO, so when it failed, there was no re-downloading or continuing to play. Which makes me appreciate offline modes for games like this a LOT more. Hopefully this game does well, it's a great concept, but it's failed before.
My only problem with the game is optimization. My Laptop can run Cyberpunk 2077 at 60fps on mid settings but not this game even on lowest settings? I'll wait for 1.0 when hopefully they will work on optimizing the game since they will have the content fully developed.
its worse than you think even. i cacn play on my laptop cyberpunk on max settings with raytracing maxed with dlss and frame generation i got 60 fps but in this game i got on mid settings with dlss and frame generation only 48 - 53 fps. but with this update i got some fun with this game quite like the setting
server capacity must be a difficult puzzle though. As you company you want the least amount of server space needed to safe on costs, but not so little that it's gonna cause irreparable damage to your reputation.
Wisps are great for hoarding essence, the chests themselves are fairly valuable, you can smash them for parts, and when in the bastilles/ruins, you should look for walls with cracks in them, can smash through with mining ⛏️ pick
As a solo player, Nightingale is alot better now. Especially the crafting mechanics, much easier to understand and progression is more fluid. And they got rid of the terrible turorial.
Diablo 3 was a messy launch like you said, as messy as WoW launch nearly a decade earlier. Endwalker for FF14 was like a perfect storm of bad conditions: mass exodus from WoW to FF14, lack of server infrastructure upgrades due to Covid, devs being unprepared for the influx because they couldn't predict those things or that FF14 would become so popular so quickly. They had to halt all digital sales it became so popular. It was just crazy. I'd only started playing it again a few months before the launch of EW after playing ARR through Heavensward launch. The queues were insane, with hours long waits. It was an experience, to be sure. I've experienced many online game launches, and I think it just boils down to devs under preparing for their launch more than anything. I know it's impossible to predict the response to your game launch, you never know what random factor(s) may make it blow up (i.e. Valheim), but I think a lot of bigger studios just play things too cautious when it comes to game launches and don't prepare for a large number of players, which usually results in a bad launch and a bad first impression. Anyway, I just had to respond to what you were saying, since I've been through most of the launches you talked about. I am really happy you are playing this game again and it's getting a new life. I've had my eye on it since well before launch, but the bad launch made me steer away from it for most of the year. I hope it keeps improving, as my friends, family, and I have been really enjoying survival games this year, namely Abiotic Factor. (Because of your videos on it). It'd be fun to play this with my normal gaming group.
It’s nice, after Conan’s EA, Nightingale have just been a breath of fresh air, especially since they are just better with updates and showing what they want to add, this update has been grand so far, things will get harder as soon as you get to T2, still run it online myself
Yeah I've been playing Nightingale, it's super underrated imo. Thankfully I didn't play too much until the recent progress reset. Would have sucked to lose everything. Btw, Conan Exiles has a really interesting update coming up in October, adds new companion NPCs, they made it so thralls can be resuscitated. The game Soulmask is like Conan Exiles 2.0 if you ask me, been enjoying that too
All games, online or no, should have the online aspect as optional. You get to download the game, you can play utterly alone, offline, if you so desire. Bar none. Yes, I also mean MMOs. If you're buying a product, you should get to have the product you bought. Personally, I think that's a pretty simple concept.
Meh, it's a product and will never be regulated. It's also not very simple if you're saying that you should be able to run a personal/local MMO server for something like WoW, which was designed from the ground up for a server-client relationship. They'd have to develop MMO's to be run locally and then that would screw companies like Blizzard later when they need to reel in the private servers (they'd have almost no argument to shut them down, since they gave users the ability in the first place). TLDR; if you don't like it, vote with your wallet, but it isn't "simple".
@@Eranderil that would be the most boring experience ever. You have to accept that some games cant work if they are not online, especially MMOs... well, traditional MMORPGs
@@PepperoniRonin. Skip to "Grumping aside," if you'd like to ignore my crab-assing and get to the meat of my point. (My grouching is kinda funny tho- but it's purely coming from my own perspective/opinion.) Then. Build. A. Better. Game. If you need to rely on a third parties involvement to enjoy your entertainment, MAYBE that is just bad entertainment. A cantankerous soul MIGHT even call that "poorly designed." You're comment "that would be the most boring experience ever" is profoundly unconvincing to me for a solitary reason: That sounds like a distinct UPGRADE to overwatch or any of it's ilk to me, personally. Taking a distinctly unpleasant experience and turning it boring is, in fact, upward mobility. However marginally, admittedly. Grumping aside, to actually address the crux of your issue- if the bots are boring for you, you would STILL have the online option designing the way I suggest. Designed well enough, you'd have the option (and control) to play with other human beings that you might even actually like (For example: think peer2peer through steam). When your game servers inevitably die (because they WILL die- that's just time, costs, and probability at work), you would still be able to play your game, if for nothing else than nostalgia's sake. Furthermore, the developers might actually have some motivation to improve the bots and establish them into a range of difficulties and intelligences capable of challenging from the noobiest of newbs up to even the finest of players. Which I would argue would be better for the industry as a whole.
Dont waste your time on this pile of garbage. Nightingale is Is a terrible game. Want great exciting fluid gameplay no bugs Great story and quests. then get ENCHANTHED Its a much much better game its fun ..Combat Is very good with a great story and quests and the world is full of lots of things to do. And the building is the best . better then any other survival game out there period.
Means devs should do more testing. Like why not launch the game with the server capacity to handle 1M players for the first few days or first week then down scale to the actual player base numbers?

I hate how cool the setting of the game is only to be a buildy crafty, a genre I simply can't get into. I'm glad its getting updates tho
Honestly the only survival crafting game within the last 10 years I could get into is V Rising, and mainly because the combat carried it.
Give it a shot u might like it the initial phase is a bit boring with these games tho.

Launches of games are always awful, the initial rush of creating characters and accounts destroys servers.

They changed nothing. Just added more crap. Its still gear based only game.
