Performed in Muleshoe, TX, several years ago. Roger learned the community was trying to build a little league baseball park, he endorsed the check he received for performing, and donated it for the ball park. Roger Miller Ball Park is still in use.
Really cared a lot for that ole guy . Used to sit around the fireplace and listen to him with my Dad If I could be like any artist it would be like ole Roger
OMG, I just LOVE HIM. Always have. Ever since I was a kid. My Dad introduced me to his music when I was little, still love them BOTH so much. Miss them both.
Loved him and Jerry reed both natural talent very funny very giving, many ppl don’t know Jerry reed a marine helped found wounded warrior project wrote a check for 19 million
He was such a trip. Goofball and national treasure. His songs played with repetition, rhymes, consonance (often in the middle of lines, not just the ends) that are in the same orbit as, Dr. Seuss, Gertrude Stein, and Gerard Manly Hopkins. I don't know if he actually read the poetry of the latter two, but he's a kindred spirit nevertheless.
Hey Bob Smith? Roger WROTE that tune. It's just sped up and rap lyrics added. He'd laugh his head off, I think. And biravioles.. that's a Roger twisted words nickname if I ever heard one: Viagra Big... er nevermind. '"The Hampsterdance Song" is a song by Hampton the Hampster. It was released in July 2000 as a single. It was produced by The Boomtang Boys, using a sped-up hook from the Roger Miller song "Whistle Stop" -Wikipedia
I miss Roger Miller and his music and I love Willie
His lyrics implied more than they said. There was a detachment about him, too. He was an entertainer, but a great songwriter.
He was a great person and a joy to watch and hear. Glad Willy and the gang love him, too
If I could bring back anybody to spend time with.
It’d be Roger Miller
Roger Miller, an icon. Absolutely one of a kind and a precious treasure in the USA.
As a songwriter going on 50 years myself Roger is really and truly the KING OF THE SONGWRITERS plain and simple!
That man could sing the phone book and get a standing ovation...
And make it funny interesting and entertaining....
Roger Miller and Kris Kristoferson were the two greatest country songwriters ever roger even wrote a symphony
Dude's like the Robin Williams of Music, utterly unique.
oh what an awesome connection you made yes I agree.
Two great talents lost, great pressure I suppose
Great comment, totally on point. We all could use a shot of Roger Miller these days.
He was funny but I think because of that he was overlooked as a serious artist. Other examples are Roy Clark and Jim Stafford
He was an incredible talent! Great song writer and great musician! He was one of those guys that made it look effortless!
Hope this man is not forgotten.

My dad brought me up on Roger and Johnny Cash, and I remember my dad singing Dang Me.
Roger reminds me of my dad, and what a nice voice he had. He's special!
I quoted that "maple surple" line just the other day. What wonderful memories he gave us from our childhoods.
One of my favorite people of all time!!
My Dad had many of his records we played them all the time. "My Uncle used to love me but she died." You left us too soon Sir.
A documentary needs to be made
I grew up with every song he sang...Had to play-em until they were wore out...Then Buy more
I'm proud to give Roger some of the smiles he had earned. What a guy!
