BAN IT!? It's our unofficial National Anthem. If you don't like it then leave. 🇬🇧✋
Absolutely leave this country. These certain people who speak down about Britain and British values, then go live elsewhere, be in you happy world. But definitely don’t live in this country.
Colonialism was a good thing for the people we colonised, they got a better life out of it. Got prosperity.
everyone that doesn't like the song should back to their home country where they came from
As an Australian seeing this once great country tearing it's self apart breaks my heart. I hope it can regain it's pride and patriotism.
Rule Britannia!!! ❤🇬🇧
Agreed 🇬🇧 i love rule Britannia, its a very sturing and patriotic for days gone by for our country
i'm an American, and I love our national anthem. But honestly, Rule Britannia gives me shivers! What a freaking amazing song! I'd be bellowing the words right in her smug little face!
The line 'Britain Rules the Waves' that Joanna is complaining about, is actually a boast about the Naval superiority that enabled the abolition of slavery by Britain. What a brutal irony! She simply doesn't understand what she is talking about (and perhaps neither do the other panelists).
she should leave britain lol
Exactly, if she doesnt like the fact that people actually feel patriotism to their country then she can just get out and try to tear up another countries national pride and spirit.
why would a non ethnic brit feel pride for britannia lol@@liegerr5978
No.
Joanna in the mid 1700s we were fighting to abolish slavery, read your history
So Britain is going "Woke"?
Keep it, it's our country.
Absolutely a wonderful patriotic song. If you don't like it don't listen to it.
ABSOLUTELY NOT.....
I will sing it then i will sing it then Britannia Britannia shall rule the wave Britain will never be slaved
So in England I’m not allowed to be loud and proud about being English, I’ll fly my flag and forever rule Britannia
No I am or banning it for any black person
Lilly who?
Only the uneducated and ignorant people will not understand and feel uncomfortable. Once they learn the truth about this song then they should join the rest of us and celebrate it 😂😂😂😂😂
she clearly does not understand the lyrics. listen to the song the song is about freedom "The nations not so blest as thee
Must, in their turn, to tyrants fall,
While thou shalt flourish great and free:
The dread and envy of them all."
Thee haughty tyrants ne'er shall tame;
All their attempts to bend thee down
Will but arouse thy generous flame,
But work their woe and thy renown.
The Muses, still with freedom found,
Shall to thy happy coasts repair.
Blest isle! with matchless beauty crowned,
And manly hearts to guard the fair.
no
Isnt it about a ship?
NO. those who don't like it go and live elsewhere
Like you care were any of you born then
If you don't like are freedom then please leave
Then go live somewhere eals
Haha funny joke.
I don't see why a country that is so proud of being the first in abolishing slavery should be proudly upholding a song that idealizes slavery.
it doesn't in anyway idealize slavery quite the opposite please read the lyrics its is a anthem for freedom
When this song was written in 1740, slavery was everywhere in the world. Meanwhile Britain had abolished it around 500 years before. (Serfdom that replaced it, also ended in Britain in the 16th century.) The words of the song are about being free from 'tyrants', or in other words people who would make slaves of you.
finally someone with a brain@@typetwo
yes
no
No freedom of speech and free expression you authoritarian tyrant
No
@@skelo_boi1279 it glorifies the country that killed millions of my people, and millions in other countries. Can’t wait for the day Britain burns
Get out you mug rule Britannia
Overly emotional Piers appears to have lost the plot. Yes indeed Rule Brittania had a time place but is not applicable today once the lyrics are spelt out and tou realize when it was written! I wonder how many people sing it blindly? I once would have. Thanks for highlighting that. Why can't we move forward whilst acknowledging the past and close with a different anthem that represents Britain in the modern age?
Thanks for the education.
read the lyrics to the song its an anthem for freedom not oppression. to claim otherwise is ignorant
