Thanq for the video, you've had some fantastic ideas. Too many to mention. Great job. You have more kitchen counters than we have in our 3 bedroom house. Stay safe on your travels
this is the first i've seen sacrificing insulation for the taller sleeper to sleep sideways.... I'm 6'4 (194cm) but I'm a side sleeper, and while my transit is still being constructed at the factory, you have turmoiled my plans. I appreciate you.
great build, but i'd have to move the fridge up on top by the access panel, not being able to fully open the door would drive me nuts. Great job on the build
Nice job guys and it’s great to see young people living a dream that is with the bare minimum. Although you’re not sacrificing too much because you have everything you need in the van. It makes you appreciate just what is important and it’s definitely not all the material things we’re led to believe makes us happy. Don’t change and take a look at an English architect by the name of George Clark who has been championing small space living for years and has made a few tv programs on the subject ❤️
Ross Downie. Hi guys - I live down under in Brisbane AU. - Love your work - have been scouring the Transit conversions as I have just commenced a rebuild on our old Transit - originally a rental unit We have a new Sprinter however my 15 yr old grandaughter Abbey wanted the sad old unit for a rebuild - so I agreed to give her one Sunday a week in a mentoring role - in two days she has stripped it out completely and tagged all the electrics - only shower toilet unit left intact. - will beinteresting to see how it all goes - may well be pinging a few questions your way Reagards Ross PS I noticed you have your dust pan stored under the swivel seart - did the same in the Sprinter and it managed to catch in the wiring harness for the air bags etc - looked like a rat had been feasting on it sowworth checking on
Great build it looks a little tight but you've got a ton of storage. We have 7ft 2 inches in width and we have adjusted the amount of space a few times. Great systems set up. 👏
Hello, hello from Puerto Rico , i an planning to buy one transit van exactly like yours , but here in my island there’s not much space to make travels , so I prefer to move to the states and have it there, the question is if you made the interiors for people like me ?
I was surprised to see the fridge down on the floor like that in the narrowest hallway I've ever seen in a van, camper, or trailer. You can stoop to get something from the front, but I'd never be able to get anything out of the back half. Sitting on the floor works sometimes, but this leaves no room for legs and feet. I'd need to borrow someone's 8-yr-old kid to operate my fridge--clean it out every day to get rid of stuff from the back that aged out, move stuff to the front that need to be used up? This is a serious problem and the space was right there next to the bath to have a nice refrigerator at torso-height. Maybe end the closet, move the shower to be right behind the driver, and put the fridge right next to the shower. Gives you space for pots and pans down where fridge was. And maybe shoes under them in a cabinet or drawer. Lastly the huge counter needs a burner. At least one, then maybe a portable for big dinners and outside cooking. You'd still have at least half the counter on the bath side, maybe put a little closet there with a fold-down counter?
I want to trade in my Ford sedan for a Ford transit and convert it into a camper. Most companies are sooo expensive and I know car notes, insurance, and maintenance probably also run high for vans.
Are you selling? The defensiveness of saying "No issue there!" was like a seller short-circuiting a discussion... And then language such as "YOU (not "we" or "I") can add anything there" when talking about the 2 empty switches wired into the switch for the water pump. Just made me wonder, when standing in a tiny van with the narrowest hallway on Earth--one of the 2 things that make people feel their vehicles are just TOO small to keep them. The width of the hallway and when overhead cabinets block views across the vehicle. People--in the long term--prefer less cabinet space at eye level and more space around them, and wider walkways so they need not twist and turn to get thru. Otherwise, this is pretty and has almost everything covered. Fridge is fatally placed--impossible for many of us to ever reach anything not in the very front and floor space is too small to sit on the floor to perfectly organize everything to put today's food in the front. And everyone needs a burner on the counter. Esp traveling where it's cold--tea, coffee, and hot soup as well as a hot breakfast become essential. Which leads me to wondering why the rear doors are still metal? That could radiate cold on to whoever sleeps in the back. Insulation and a finish would cure that--another one of these vans put the same panelling she used on the walls above and below the windows with insulation underneath the panelling. Just an idea.
The body language cues in this are hilarious. James has problems sleeping sideways--and stuck his poor wife at the back by the cold door and climbing over him to use the restroom? He squeezed his eyes shut and had a bit of a conniption when saying he slept there with no problem. Having to remove insulation at head and foot is not exactly "no problem." Oh dear.
The side airbags are actually not blocked at all and left completely free from any obstruction. As we're sure you agree, it was important to us that we not mess with the factory safety components!
A bit ridiculous to stop watching a van build over that. Even more ridiculous that you felt the need to express that idiotic statement with others. If that's all it takes to trigger you, you should get some help.
Cool guys.. i have the same van. I am in the process of building it out.
Thanq for the video, you've had some fantastic ideas. Too many to mention. Great job.

This is literally the best self-built layout I've seen. Excellent work!
Thanks a lot!

It's never been an issue so far not having insulation where our heads and feet go! As a side sleeper (James) it's worked out very well!
@@abbyandjamestravel dude I was contemplating the split Murphy until I saw this....
@@abbyandjamestravel Showed the GF your east west sleeping last night and I think that's what we're going to go for
Clothes line in wet bath is so smart.
Looks amazing great job! Enjoy your travels 😎

I see tons and tons of everything. Great design in usage of space btw 😊
Thank you! We thought of every square inch!
Love the setup. The cane looks awesome on upper cabinets
Great van build. I love the idea of the webbing on the upper cabinets to keep the weight down (and it looks great too). Enjoy your travels.
Thanks! That was the idea while also being nice to look at!
Great build, enjoy your travels.
Thank you!!
Great set up!! Could you please forward a link for the marine vans. Thks. 🌟👍
The van is amazing , thank you for the tour . I subscribed and looking forward to more of your journey ...thank you 🇨🇦

That van is amazing!

Perfect home for 2 people.
Thank you!! It is a perfect space for two!

Just curious why you went with the lagun table vs a pull out table from under the bed?
Pull out would have been the way to go for that for sure. Honestly didn’t think about it!
Very nice
Great van 👍🏽
Love it Y'ALL 😀
Love it! Tons of super!
Hello , just wanted to say you have a nice van build. I also have a Ford Transit AWD and Prefer a no build van as a weekend warrior.
Love it, lucky you 🥰
“Relatively comfortably”, does that mean you can sleep straight? How long is your mattress that fit in the cutout?
me again, from six months ago. I was wondering if climate was why you didn't undermount your tanks?
Are those tyres all terrain? I have just bought of ATs for my transit but I worry that because it’s not 4x4 it
might be a waste x
Great build it looks a little tight but you've got a ton of storage. We have 7ft 2 inches in width and we have adjusted the amount of space a few times.

Nice build yall...Im in Texas looking for some build help. Did yall have some help in AR? any builders there?
Thanks so much! James built the whole van from scratch! No small builders besides him in Alabama as far as we know!
@@abbyandjamestravel Man a vanbuilder would make bank if they were a 'traveling vanbuilder':)
Guys where did you buy the front seats and swivel base for the van 🙏
The seats are from the factory surprisingly! The swivel base is a Scopema swivel and works great!
What size is the bed? Trying to decide which way to put ours. Doesn’t look like your cutouts go the full width of the bed.
Its almost a full with some weird cut outs at the back!
nice with the inflation a lot of people are moving to vans
What size bed did you guys get??
Really nice conversion ! Thanks for the tour
How can I mute just the music?🙏
I'm so curious on what kind of fuel mileage you get loaded down?
Awesome build! 🤙
With the 3.5 Ecoboost, it handles the load with no problem! We were seeing 17-18mpg regularly!
Is that a ford manufacturer swivel seat?
Cool van. Definitely teaches me that I don't want a shower/toilet sucking up half the space in the van.
Nice
Why not use 80/20? Low mounted refrigerator is pain for full time vanlife 🙃

Is that the extended length? Do you drag very much on inclines?
It is! And we do scrape on steep inclines due to the departure angle being so poor, but a good hitch skid negates any issues!
Is this high roof or medium roof?
How much is the total cost of your conversion?
Do you think it is a good idea to house the propane right next to the electric system? Very nice van. 👍🏻
I want to trade in my Ford sedan for a Ford transit and convert it into a camper. Most companies are sooo expensive and I know car notes, insurance, and maintenance probably also run high for vans.
Super super
Cost?
She looks like Sabrina little witch old sitcom tv show 🤣
Easier to steal d van than the safe tbh 🤧
That's as in marine fans.😁

How's the fuel so bad?.. 14mpg should be illegal
No windows? This van build would not be allowed on UK campsites as regulations require 2 windows each side, not including the cab.
We choose no windows for insulating purposes! Usually, we open the doors for light when we're parked at a beautiful spot!

That's a 350, not a 250. The 250 is shorter
you blocked the side airbags yikes
The side airbags are actually not blocked at all and left completely free from any obstruction. As we're sure you agree, it was important to us that we not mess with the factory safety components!
I lost interest after the guy announced he does most of the driving, at his own insistence.
We both drive quite a bt actually! No worries!
