Okay, I told myself I wasn't going to over comment but I have to give this one a shout out. I have such fond and happy memories sitting by my Grandma in the church she attended in a small little town in North Louisiana. I can still hear her sweet voice and her precious hands clapping along with this hymn. I have struggled in my life with feelings of sadness as others had so much more than me but I can say with confidence that as I thanked God Almighty for what I have been blessed with in this life, those sad feeling would melt away. Gratefulness is truly the best medicine to the great sadness that we are sometimes bombarded with. Thanks again for telling us how this blessed hymn came to be. God bless!
Sang this a lot when I was young and really enjoyed it. I love hymns and have several hymnals at home and enjoy singing them. God has blessed me more than I ever believe that what I would have and most important ones are family and friends.
