Proud American here, and seeing Darren Clarke at the K Club in 2006 always brings a tear to my eye and a chill down my spine. Simply incredible stuff

It feels great when you won on the game and everyone celebrate your victory. I really loved to hear the scream of the audience who support their winning player.

Number One should be Christy O'Connor's win against Fred Couples on the Sunday singles match at The Belfry in '89. He was not supposed to win that match, but won it with that beautiful 2-iron shot to the last hole. You can see it here on TH-cam.

Love watching the Ryder cup but always seem like it means so much more to Europe than the US. Kind of annoying but also very symbolic as an American.

The US did not really win in Brookline since after what happened on 17th green after Leonard's put, the Americans should have conceded Jimenez' put. No one can expect to put where just seconds before 30 people were standing on you put line. I trust there is even a rule in the rule book for being penalized for a behavior like this.....
In Europe that Ryder Cup is still known as "The arrival of the golf hooligan"
The biggest shame was that after all what happened - Crenshaw still talked about the US won with honor and integrity. You gotta be kidding - it can't be even close to honor and dignity if some of your players say before the event that they are so much better than the Europeans that the Europeans should not play against them, but caddy for them. Also the 17th can't be mentioned in the same sentence with honor and integrity.

Indeed, as an American, I was embarrassed by the team's youthful exuberance and they did, in fact, over-react. That said, it is not positively clear that Oly's line was maligned.

It doesnt matter now..that action has made the europeans even more determined...hence 8 played since and 7 wins...the 1 loss is because of a knob of a european captain...left out westwood and garcia...lmfao

Send a Yank like Hogan to your wee insignificant tournament, and you see what a real man can do. Want to quote history? Look it up.

Don't be sore... while the celebration may have been overdone and a bit premature (though not disrespectful) you can't deny the heart the Americans played with that day. To come back from that deficit, and to play that well and as a team was incredible. So what if their celebration was a little wild and crazy. They earned it. Everybody knew when Leonard sunk that putt it was over. Also, Europe did the same thing at Medinah. While Kaymer's putt was for the official win, they went crazy as well. To say that day was the arrival of the golf hooligan is nothing short of poor sportsmanship and bitter. Yes, I know it wasn't the gentlemanly thing to jump around the green, but Europe would not have done it any differently. American or not, you can't deny the magic that happened at The Country Club, and the celebration changed nothing.
