@Neal Small I believe he was sad since he became close with Pat Morita and even gave a speech about him when Pat got an award (forgot what type but it was probably lifetime achievement award). If they were not that close, Pat would not have requested Ralph to deliver that speech for the former. Ralph told this story during the 30th reunion of Karate Kid. Nice to know he was also close to William Zabka, Ralph's nemesis in the movie.

Update: Thank you for all the likes and comments. I really thought Ralph was a child star considering he played a high school student. Only learned later that he was older when he played that role. Regardless, he still carried himself as a respectable person and one of the better role models over the years.

I been a huge Ralph Macchio fan since 1983 when The Outsiders was released at the theaters. Been blessed to see he is still healthy and watching his health not like other actors have went into drug abuse or just not no longer with us. I guess it goes to a HAPPY BLESSING MARRIAGE with 2 beautiful adult children and loving wife.
His acting has always inspired me to be good with my life and to live to the fullest. Ralph if you are reading this know that I am grateful to have such a wonderful actor as my favorite in my life all these years. I love that about Ralph, though. A lot of guys who were a pop culture phenomenon in the 80's would try to play it down or be too cool. I love that he owns it and appreciates the love and enthusiasm of the fans. He recognizes the nostalgia and plays into it.

Yeah, I miss Pat Morita too. I met him when I was working in a Pub. One day before he left, he was feeling a bit uneasy, which was just a few months before he passed away. Just a few days before that I got him to autograph my DVD box set of all 4 Karate Kid Movies. He even signed "Mr Miayagi" along with his name after I had told him how my cousin first introduced me to the original movie. My cousin said Ray, you got to see this movie. This kid reminds me of you as a kid when he is walking into the ocean, getting hit by the waves and falling off balance. I knew exactly what he was talking about because one of my relatives has some old film clips of that. Not to mention, I actually grew up as a skinny Italian American kid from Newark. On the last night that I saw him, he was invited to go on stage with the band that was playing there that night. It was a free show for the public. Morita put on a little Karate Kid type skit that night, uttering phrases from the movie, singing Oh, Danny Boy for the Irish band saying, Wax on Wax off and stuff. He was a riot!! Then at the end of the night, as he got up to leave, he asked me to assist him in walking him down the steps in the pub. He wasn't feeling well. After I walked him out, Bam! It dawned on me. The scene from the movie came to mind when Daniel helped him to bed after he had a few drinks. That scene has always been a very emotional scene for me to watch, even before that day.

Cobra Kai is very well written, and it’s like a breath of fresh air in an era full of so many good tv series competing for ones attention.. Needless to say Cobra Kai stands out
I enjoyed every second, loved every nostalgic episode.. Even though is a 2019 release the tone set you back in that time frame in which so many awesome movies were filmed in the 80’s.
Back then movies like Karate Kid didn’t rely much on special effects, it was about good scripts and good old fashioned story telling at its best.
I wish Ralph had kept some of Daniels's Jersey accent in Cobra Kai.

All I want to say is welcome back! My son has been bugging me this week about watching the show on Netflix. At first I thought it would suck plus 3 seasons! I watched the first 3 episodes while on TicToc so I didn’t know what to think. I’m half way through season 2 and I can’t stop watching it. I even went back and watched the first 3 episodes. Love it and the movie. He’s still got it and it looks great! Cheers

Jimmy repeats what the guests says and fake laughs. It's uncomfortable to watch. So many better interviewers out there: Conan, Dan Patrick, Rich Eisen, and Sway all sounded like they were having real conversations with Ralph. I liked Jimmy more before The Tonight Show. He should quit.

I believe his role in the movie 🍿 outsiders is highly underrated. He chose to 🚫 leave the hollywood scene and stopped making more films due to his early exposure to the many downsides of being in the lime light. He more than likely chose to stay away from that lifestyle. One of the only young actors who didn't get totally screwed up in the head due to fame and fortune. Guess he found a way to keep his balance 🌱 🤸🎋in this crazy world, and for that I admire him...
His Johnny Cade was so on point. He played Johnny's sensitive but broken kid so well.

I watched karate kid last night. In the last scene. Johnny says "you're alright larusso", so they are NOT suppose to be enemies. He didnt say it was an illegal kick. They actually became friends at the end. Even the beginning of part 2 when Miyagi saves johnny. Huge plot hole. Maybe johnny just hated all of daniels success afterwards, and THATS what started the rivalry again.

Nah, I think it's fair enough. Johnny said that in the moment, but obviously over time became very bitter with life and then blamed Larusso for his failures.
JP Truth You can get bitter over 34 years and just because Johnny congratulated Daniel doesn’t mean they are friends now. It’s a simple show of sportsmanship and respect from Johnny. Trust me he still hates Daniels guys even more now that not only did he steal his girlfriend but he stole his title and got bitter of the years seeing Daniel rise to the top and himself plummet
If you watch the show, you can clearly see Johnny has a respect for sportsmanship - even if Kreese tried to beat that out of him for many years
