I've done only a couple and haven't tackled the lettering yet. So thank you for that tip. I agree that one has to take great care when using a Dremel, I found using a cloth wheel very helpful. I put weight in one of mine but can't use it with a Scuttle, because it now wants to sit too deep in the scuttle and crushes the bristles. So I left the second one without any weight and it seats fine in a scuttle.
Hi Matt. I e been a subscriber a few months now. I watched this video because I’m restoring my dads Ever Ready 150. Only one chip in the handle. The rubber is intact. Not cracked. I’m not changing the knot just going to polish the handle and redo the lettering. I ordered some gold leaf rub n buff for it. The red lettering on the bottom is decent but I’ll eventually re do it. I enjoy the channel.
This is a brilliant video! Love the superb craftsmanship of your work, done with real love of the product. Considering buying a vintage Ever Ready C40 or a No 89 and I may come to you for a new knot and restoration afterwards depending on condition. If you were based in England I'd definitely be asking for a job 😃👍💈

Hello razor emporium. I have a question. When replacing a knot...can knot & handle be same size? For example 30mm knot to 30mm handle? Or always one size smaller?
I have one tip. If you use Silicone, RTV gasket grade, you can eventually pull the knot out without too much trouble, in case you are testing the best loft for that particular knot. Is not as permanent as epoxy, since once is dry, there is no turning back, and removing the knot will destroy it. But don't use too much, since it will hold very firmly. I almost destroyed a knot that I glued too deep and put too much silicone. I had to use a vise-grip to pull it out. Shed a bit, but it was salvaged.
Amazing absolutely love all the services you offer at the emporium. I was just gonna ask what you would recommend to use for additional weight in the handle ive heard of people using few penny's but I suppose depends on the brush.

Good morning Matt! thank you for this video. I have an unknown model of an Ever Ready Rubber-set brush that need this service. Additionally, I am unsure about the knot...I think it might be badger. Anyway, this video was timely and very well done.
Well. You warned me not to use a dremell. But do I listen? NNOOOOO I juat put some nice gouges in an otherwise gouge free brush. Oh well. My dad said I could fuck up a one car funeral.
Not bad at all guys...Nice transformation. I really enjoy bringing vintage shave brushes back to life myself at Reyes_Restores on Instagram. I like to add a layer of painters tape around the top of the brush prior to any drilling. I saw the smoke coming up drill bit and know exactly what that smells like...lol. Thanks for sharing.
Lol, what's with all that equipment? Half the people don't even have that vernier measurement thing, yet alone the drill press. You could as well used a laser cnc machine from the future.
I cry foul! First how many guys have a bench belt sander and drill press with a Forstner bit just hanging around in the garage? I know! I'll go to Harbour Freight and spend $400 to repair my shaving brush!

We use pennies because they are cheap, flat, bond well and are cheap! ;)
