    Great job , i enjoyed your video. I restored a 1988 Grandby, i love it, only used it once. No toilet or heater, so it can get cold by morning, but its only for occasional use.

    I have a F150 with 5.6 bed and was thinking of this setup. Love the gear boxes on the back and the inside drawer system. Nice job on the bracket for the gps etc. Also the magnetic spice rack holder is thoughtful. I really like your setup and it's obvious that you put a lot of thought and planning into your setup.

    Great build!! My wife and I are watching for a used Grandby with front dinette... weight is our driving criteria. Comments: (1) Thanks for sharing Hornbeck Canoes... amazing weight/performance features. (2) Your seat delete-drawer is perfect... who made it? (3) The ARB compressor is exactly what I'm looking for (4) Stainless steel backsplash and magnetic counter organizers... brilliant (5) Coathooks and mirror... my wife loves those! (6) Utensil drawer at dinette top... great idea!! QUESTION: Can you provide a photo/sketch of your roof plan with light solar panels and canoe racks... how do you prevent panel shading from racks?

    • @rockydaleadventures
      @rockydaleadventures  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The seat delete was fabricated by a friend of mine - he's very talented and skilled! We talked about what we wanted and he just made it happen. If you email me, I can send you some pictures of the roof. The canoes block the solar panels, but when we're driving the lithium batteries are charged by a Victron Orion TR Smart charger. When we get to camp, we take the canoes off, and the sun does it's thing. We also have a portable solar charger from Overland Solar: www.overlandsolar.com/products/bugout-130-rugged-solar-charger

    Very clever and useful modifications to your camper and truck. We have a 2019 F250 and FWC Hawk. I am most interested in the removable mounting bracket for your phone and other devices. Did you make that or who can I purchase one from? Did you need to change anything on the vehicles charging system to accommodate the different battery chemistry of the Lithionics battery?
    Thanks, Steve K. Novato, CA

    • @rockydaleadventures
      @rockydaleadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I made the removable dash mount bracket. I modeled the base after the Builtright Industries dash mount. They make some very nice products. I had a friend fabricate the metal for me. I can send you pictures and some measurements and you should be able to get a local fabricator to make something for you. (Will you be at the owner's rally in Beckwourth?)
      The MPPT charge controller from Overland Solar is completely customizable, so yes we changed the voltage settings required for the Lithionics battery. Brian Wurts at Overland Solar is very knowledgable and helpful. The engineers at Lithionics were also very helpful.

    really like your rig, enjoyed the tour and humor.
    We have a '19 Ford F350 and an Artic Fox 811, we enjoy the truck camper lifestyle. Less maintenance, easy to keep clean and we don't have register it with the state and pay tax on it (hope the govt does not mess that up for us). Really interested in knowing where you got the storage box for the backseat? My wife and I plan most of our adventures around fishing, mostly fly fishing or ultralight spinning out of our Old Town Kayaks and you hit it out of the park when you mentioned getting close to the water. If you ever find yourselves in East Texas give us a shout, we have plenty of parking on our 24 acre homestead. Safe Travels

    • @rockydaleadventures
      @rockydaleadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds just like us! We prefer to fly fish, but always carry a couple of ultralight spinning rods in case it's too windy or there's no room for a back cast. If we get to east Texas, we'll look you up for sure! The storage drawers in the back seat were custom made for us by my friend Dave. I don't have any CAD drawings, but I could send you some detailed pictures. You should be able to find a fabricator near you that could make something similar.

      The bumper is completely custom, but I'm sure my friend could build one for you. It's a little involved - we relocated the backup camera, the spare tire hanger, and re-plumbed the kitchen sink drain hose. What truck do you have? If you email me, I can send you some pictures and dimensions. You might be better off finding a local fabricator to work with, because your truck will be in the shop for a while...

    • @rockydaleadventures

      It seems each location has different rules... some places require a permanent black tank, other places prefer composting toilets, some places don't care. You just have to research before you go. As for the boats, we ordered the camper with factory installed Yakima tracks on the roof. Then we added our own racks.

      @@rockydaleadventures Hello, please accept my apologies for not responding sooner. We returned last week from three weeks in the Arizona desert and are just about caught up. Yes indeed Melanie and I were on the Baja Mexico trip. That trip was to sort of get our feet wet traveling in Baja so that we could travel there for about three weeks as there is much to see. We can both highly recommend any of Bob Wohlers organized tours. That was our third trip with Bob and are signed up for another in April. Bob has all the details concerning paperwork, accommodations, travel routes, local history, safety and great eating that he has honed from his many trips to Baja. When we saw last at the FWC rally in Northern California your camper had a refrigerator problem. I'm guessing that was resolved.

    Please can you give us the address or phone number of your manufacturer for that rear bumper and boxes. I really appreciate any help you can give me

      My friend Dave made the bumper, swing outs, and boxes. It's all custom work, done right here in Pennsylvania - he's not exactly a manufacturer. Do you have a Ford F-150? I don't have CAD drawings but I could give you some rough dimensions, and you should be able to find a fabricator near you that could make what you want...

    All these camper tours are pretty much the same. There's not much difference in these new one compared to my 1997 Sunlite.
    Except cost.
