his comment at the end about trials resulting in assurance because faith remains intact is so very true.. i've made some real blunders in my christian life and have also experienced traumatic events i had no control over ...and I'm still here walking with the Lord ...I often find myself amazed that I have an interest in righteousness at all. @@leahhicks8657 hey there Leah. Great to hear your news. I have been helped a great deal by the late and indeed great Martyn Lloyd Jones who asked the question ' what is a Christian...?' ' It is' he continued ' someone to whom God has done something to ! Not something we have done to ourselves or a religious practice we take up.' What has He done? Oh He has made us alive in Christ when we were utterly dead. He called us out of the grave for His glory He has vowed not only to make us fit for heaven but as our Father to walk with us on the journey transforming us into the likeness of Christ. His precious Holy Spirit in us to comfort and counsel .The fruit may be slow to appear but He is so faithful and very skilled at what He does even as we carry round a dead corpse on our back! My humble encouragement to you Leah is to always begin with Him in your thinking - it will take time and practice ( not mind over matter but regular prayer and reading - small amounts or big ) at times feeling like your prayers are bouncing off the ceiling. Throughout the day wherever you are regularly say to Him ' Father thank you in Jesus Name ' He loves this . This will be a fountain of joy to you Leah. Bless you on your walk with Him

How is it "empowering" to believe that no human who has ever lived can repent believe the gospel and be saved unless they are prechosen before the world began to do so. God alone decides whether individuals will be saved or damned. Mankind is not empowered by this teaching he is rendered helpless
@@JimiSurvivor because for God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Thanks to the preaching of Dr. John MacArthur . Now I understand what justification and sanctification is. I weep deep inside with comfort knowing that despite our sinfulness, Jesus saves and that He does not leave us in this state. He indeed is my Savior.
Mary, the whole idea for Christ to come amongst men is to set them free from their sinfulness. For without being sanctified this side of heaven we do not get to see it. Heb 12:14
@@JimiSurvivor Not at all. God is not a respecter of persons. Salvation is by man's choice. God offers salvation to all men, but only some choose to follow Him. This is something Mr. MacArthur has not understood.
@@removingveils5824 If you believe Salvation is by man's choice then you are not a Calvinist. However, MacArthur is. He is not ignorant but is well aware of what that means. He USED to believe like you but long ago abandoned any belief in salvation as your know it. Now his views are corrupted by the false teachings of Bishop Augustine the so-called "Doctor of the Catholic Church"
@@JimiSurvivor I doubt he used to believe like me, or else he wouldn't have become Calvinistic. And he should have studied the fall of Augustine more closely and would have seen that Augustine's earlier teaching was contrary to what he later adopted. Nevertheless, he seemed to have turned his position around in his last months on earth to adopt a very pious life in the fear of God. All ideas of predestination seemed to then have vanished from him as he strived in prayer, the Word with fasting. Also remember that the Catholic Church never let anyone rule unless they were puppets of what the institute had adopted.
36:00 "Yes you will gain victory over sin, however you will feel worse, because part of being better is hating sin more!" What a salient point!!! This will go with me for the rest of my life!!
The point is futile and incorrect. Those who come to true repentance don't continue in sin as a part of life. And the victory of overcoming is pure joy for the one who overcomes who then has entered into the joy of the Lord. Christ has victory over sin and certainly doesn't feel worse but enjoys the joy of the Lord and the peace that a holy life produces. If I were you I'd drop the point tonight; seek being sanctified at all costs, and enjoy the rest of your life on earth with the qualified hope of eternal life. This means that you will have entered life eternal in faith while your feet still remain on earth.
@@removingveils5824 I totally agree with you, but I don't think you are making a point that is contrary to what MacArthur said. His point is very valid. I think another way of saying it is, the close we get to God the more we see our sin. The brighter the light is in the room the easier it is to see the stains on the floor and the furniture. But your point is well taken. People who are truly saved gain victory over sin. They fight the good fight, they throw off the sin, they put off the old man and put on the new man. The point of the question the kids are asking is will sin be a struggle all their lives, and unfortunately yes, sin will always be a part of our lives, but as we draw closer to God we will want to serve God and be more like him and serve ourself less and be less like our sinful selves.

@@denniscampbell242 When asked if a person who took the mark of the Beast could still be saved, MacArthur answered "I think so." Well read the scripture and decide for yourself if he was right: …9 And a third angel followed them, calling out in a loud voice, “If ANYONE worships the beast and its image, and RECEIVES ITS MARK on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he too will drink the wine of God’s anger, poured undiluted into the cup of His wrath. And he will be tormented in fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment RISES FOREVER AND EVER. Day and night there is no rest for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.”… (Revelation 14:9-11)
@@JimiSurvivor All that proves is that John Macarthur has a greater faith. Biblically, you are correct though. My only rebuttal cones from revelation 14:13 ' then I heard a voice from heaven say " write: blessed are the dead who die in the Lord FROM NOW ON." Yes, says the Spirit, they will rest from their labor for their deeds will follow them.' (emphasis is my own) With that being said, I do also think that they could be saved. For if they died, in the Lord, at the time of coming of the beast and his mark, then they are blessed. :Edit: this verse comes to mind to support my view,' He who is in me, is greater than he who is in this world'... That includes the beast, for the Lord that is in me is greater than the lord of this world.
@@jayyrod1 A. You cannot both affirm and deny the same statement without violating the law of non contradiction which is the basis for all rational thought. The scripture I cited is unequivocal and leaves absolutely no room for any doubt that under those circumstances the consequences listed will most certainly take place. B, Here, let us look at it again: 9 And a third angel followed them, calling out in a loud voice, “If ANYONE [including believers or nonbelievers] worships the beast and its image, and receives its mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he too WILL DRINK [not MIGHT DRINK] the wine of God’s anger, poured undiluted into the cup of His wrath. And he WILL BE [not "MIGHT BE"] tormented in fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment rises [not MIGHT rise] forever and ever. Day and night there is no rest [not there MIGHT POSSIBLY BE no rest] for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone [not SOME PEOPLE] who receives the mark of its name.” (Revelation 14:9-11) C. "With that being said, I do also think that they could be saved. For if they died, in the Lord, at the time of coming of the beast and his mark, then they are blessed." Not if they receive the mark and worship him. The ones who will be "saved in death" are mentioned in the next few verses: 12 Here is a call for the PERSEVERENCE of the saints who KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS of God and the FAITH of Jesus. (Revelation 14:9-11) Those who worship the beast and receive the mark just to get groceries will NOT have PERSEVERED. Their faith will have failed. Only those who continue to BELIEVE and OBEY Jesus and His gospel will be BLESSED when they die: D. The ones who are blessed in death are those who remain in the Lord, not the ones who leave that position to serve the Antichrist 13 And I heard a voice from heaven telling me to write, “Blessed are the dead-those who die IN THE LORD from this moment on.” (Revelation 14:13) E. "Edit: this verse comes to mind to support my view,' He who is in me, is greater than he who is in this world'... That includes the beast, for the Lord that is in me is greater than the lord of this world." But if we COMPROMISE our faith and serve the world, the flesh and the Devil we will no longer have access to the Spirit's overcoming power but we will be like Samson who compromised and awoke to find that the Spirit had departed from him. Possessing God's strength depends on our REMAINING IN HIM (John 15:5-7). F. This goes to show how men who hold the respect of the people who listen to them can convince them to substitute their learned OPINIONS for what the word of God actually says
I thought when I was saved, I was never going to sin again. Oh man, I learned the hard way that's not what the walk is about. I almost walked away because I couldn't get it right, ever. I thought I had been lied to. Then Jesus made me understand that if I could get it right, I wouldn't need Him. I wouldn't need a savior or even know Him. So, I still suffer, but now the pain and suffering of my sin has a purpose. He shines brighter when I'm in the darkness. And I'm learning to be ok with that.
The beauty of God is He loves us while we’re still sinners but He won’t let us stay that way. He loves us enough that in spite of us he remains faithful to us. Like you said your suffering has a purpose and Glory to God He called us. What ever you’re in just know God is in control of all things. He is the Author of our faith.
I caution you not to become comfortable with sin as complacency is deadly. We all go there. Before I knew it, I had fallen away. God gave me a dream of hell to warn me, so I wanted to pass that along.
Dead to Sin, Alive to God Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may abound? Rom 6:2 May it never be! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Rom 6:3 Or do you not know that all of us who were immersed into Messiah Yeshua were immersed into His death? Rom 6:4 Therefore we were buried together with Him through immersion into death-in order that just as Messiah was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. Rom 6:5 For if we have become joined together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also will be joined together in His resurrection- Rom 6:6 knowing our old man was crucified with Him so that the sinful body might be done away with, so we no longer serve sin. Rom 6:7 For he who has died is set free from sin. Rom 6:8 Now if we have died with Messiah, we believe that we shall also live with Him. Rom 6:9 We know that Messiah, having been raised from the dead, no longer dies; death no longer is master over Him. Rom 6:10 For the death He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God. Rom 6:11 So also continually count yourselves both dead to sin and alive to God in Messiah Yeshua. Rom 6:12 Therefore do not let sin rule in your mortal body so that you obey its desires. Rom 6:13 And do not keep yielding your body parts to sin as tools of wickedness; but yield yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your body parts as tools of righteousness to God. Rom 6:14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace. Slaves to Righteousness Rom 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! Rom 6:16 Do you not know that to whatever you yield yourselves as slaves for obedience, you are slaves to what you obey-whether to sin resulting in death, or to obedience resulting in righteousness? Rom 6:17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching under which you were placed; Rom 6:18 and after you were set free from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness. Rom 6:19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you yielded your body parts as slaves to uncleanness and lawlessness, leading to more lawlessness, so now yield your body parts as slaves to righteousness, resulting in holiness. Rom 6:20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free with regard to righteousness. Rom 6:21 So then, what outcome did you have that you are now ashamed of? For the end of those things is death. Rom 6:22 But now, having been set free from sin and having become enslaved to God, you have your fruit resulting in holiness. And the outcome is eternal life. Rom 6:23 For sin’s payment is death, but God’s gracious gift is eternal life in Messiah Yeshua our Lord.

SO TRUE, " The More and More you are being Sanctified, the MORE and MORE you are AWARE of your SIN ".. Amen to THAT!!! SO Happy I am BEING Sanctified, EVERY DAY!! And even MORE JOYFUL that I am ALREADY JUSTIFIED!! THANK YOU, LORD JESUS!!!!
And according to Scripture, there is no place where sanctification is presented to be progressive. That is a fact. What point would there be in being a little less sinful before you die? The wages of sin is [spiritual] death... period! What hope is there in a "God" why commands us to "be ye holy as He is holy" is He too weak and powerless to deliver us here and now, and bank on a sanctification that is never promised in the future, and no one can prove that anyone has ever been sanctified postscript?
My experience, whatever it may be, is secondary at best to Scripture. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

@@Psalm-yg6yi .... Peter was a mature, born again leader in the church. Yet, he committed the sin of hypocrisy and led others astray in his sin. Galatians 2: 11-13 But when Peter came to Antioch, *I had to oppose him to his face, for what he did was very wrong.* 12 When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. *He was afraid* of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision. *13 As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.*
Our only RIGHTEOUSNESS IS CHRIST ALONE! The Holy Spirit sanctifies us, makes us more like Jesus in thought, word and deed. It's a work of progress. I am a work in progress!
@Drake Joseph I reminded when I see you ridiculous comments everywhere on here that God keeps the wheat with the tares but eventually he will separate the two. Thankful for that
@Drake Joseph Ask for him to come into your life sincerely then you'll come to know what words fail to convey. I do realize you're here to troll but I think and could be wrong of course but I think you're really poking for answers. I don't have all the answers, no one does. Well, no one currently walking the earth but Drake, it doesn't take much to ask Him into your life. He will not be the uninvited guest. There must be the asking. But do know, he knows your heart. There must be the sincere desire for Him to be present in your life.
God does not TRANSFER any "righteousness credits" from Christ's "ACCOUNT" to ours. To RECKON a person to be righteous means simply to CONSIDER them righteous. God "considers us to be righteous" whenever we confess our sins and our UNRIGHTEOUSNESS is forgiven and cleansed (1 John 1:7-9, James 5:15). The other kind of righteousness is what is done in our character as we choose to follow the Righteous One (Revelation 19:8)
To know his hope, peace, love, faithfulness to me. Unspeakable joy. In his presence in prayer. Priceless. No other love. My Christ the Lord. He knows me and corrects me.
He lied throughout the whole sermon. Picking a bad example of Oneida has no relation to what Wesley taught or Scripture teaches. Finney was not an Arminian, he was a Pelagian (J Mac is a LIAR and DECEIVER!) I can go through the history Calvinism and show a multitude of TRUE bad examples of Calvinists taking their Gnostic Heathen Calvinism to an unbiblical end. Such as, Tobias Crisp the uber Antinomian who followed his Gnostic Fatalism to its logical and inevitable end. If showing a bad example prove a doctrine to be wrong? Does the abuse of Finney dismiss the truth of Scripture or the doctrine of entire sanctification? If it does, the theology of Reformed Calvinism is proven false over and over hundreds of times.
This was one act of God with me. Just as you said. The problem was I still wanted flesh and struggled with sin. Thank God for his deliverance thru sanctification. It's differently progressive. We grow in grace and knowledge of Him until Christ be formed in us. Thank you Jesus.

One of the most important and encouraging sermons I have ever heard. I have had such a hard time trying to contend with known sin in my life with loving God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. For years I felt that maybe my love was not true due to the mistaken thinking that salvation means a repentant/sinless life. While it does mean repentance, we should also know this process will take every day, up to the last day of your life. One of the parts that resonated with me was that the closer you get to Christ, the worse you will feel about the condition of your walk with him! Blessings this Christmas to you all and thank you Pastor for this clarification that would help so many today in there struggles!
This is so necessary to understand if we want to truly walk in obedience, while at the same time keeping ourselves focused on our Saviour and Lord Jesus...justification and sanctification are key principles that bring us to this deeper understanding...🙏😇 (had this on my "watch later" list...blessed by dr.mcarthur!)
@@LuisPerez-fy6up I believe it's a matter of dying to self and LETTING ourselves be filled with the Holy Spirit. When we are filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit, we are walking in the Spirit (under HIs control). We have the Holy Spirit living inside us right now as believers, but we also possess the "self-life" ... "my needs, my rights, my wants," etc., which will be with us until we die and go to be with the Lord. When we TRULY die to self, we have the privilege of experiencing the divine life within us
@@LuisPerez-fy6up well what dose the that passage say? Galatians 5: 16-23 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh” then he gives us what walking in the flesh looks like. He says “Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing” that is walking in the flesh. Now he says what walking in the spirit looks like. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” So Paul doesn’t leave us hanging. To walk in the spirit is all that is listed above, now look up scriptures that have these words in them then contextually break them down.
I've been to every Church from Catholic churches the Nazarene the Methodist to Pentecostal he's right. I grew up in Baptist Churches which I loved. They would sing the old hymns which brought tears to your eyes and then they started with the overhead projections using New age songs. I haven't been back to church since. I just listen to John much as I can and pray daily. I am wretched, I don't deserve salvation we don't. It's from the love and grace of God only that we are saved.

"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." Gal. 6:7 "Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you-unless, of course, you fail the test?" 2 Cor. 13:5. "He that committeth sin is of the Devil..." 1 John 3:8 "Whosoever is born of God doth not sin..." 1 John 5:18; 3:9 "Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one shall see the Lord." Heb. 12:14.
+Works Based Salvation You took what I said out of Biblical context. We are not spotless (redeemed by the blood of Jesus) because we are not Sinners (sinless), we are spotless (considered sinless) because we have been legally declared RIGHTEOUS, that doesn't mean we are not sinners because if you know scripture, you know that even Christians still sin (1st john 1:8)...If you are indeed a Christian, you won't get to heaven for being sinless, but by Grace, your sin is covered by the blood and thus you are declared righteous through faith (eph 2:8).
@@KeithThompson52 you took that out of context, "If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." (1 John 1:10, ESV) To deny you are a sinner, at anytime even after your salvation makes you a liar, because you were indeed once a sinner. You are indeed bought by his blood, but you still have to live according to his law, when you accept him as Lord it is no longer your life, but Christ in you. Which it is important to know the severity of sin or else you find yourself living like the worst kind of person Christ despised, a Hypocrite.
Don't give the guy too much credit; he's a heretic. While we won't know sinless perfection on Earth, we can know repentance3, and he suggestss that one can repent and be sinful simultaneously, which is false.
Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit. Written by David, a “man after God’s own heart” and by admittance a horrible sinner. God is greater than our iniquity.
Do you think David was a man after God's heart when he committed adultery with Bathsheba and murdered her husband. He got right with God by repenting of his sin and confessing it to God.
@@JimiSurvivor Well, that was a verse from Psalm 32, likely written by David looking back upon his life. The point i was trying to make that no matter how far we go against God, He is always willing to forgive us if we truly repent and change. In that way we are blessed because through Christ the wrath of God has been lifted off of us.

Neither he nor God said David was born strong. 37 David added, “The LORD, who delivered me from the claws of the lion and the bear, will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” (1 Samuel 17:37)
This is one of his best from John. I needed to hear this at this time, it helped me see the subtle things I am trying to do to earn my salvation. Praise be to Jesus and his complete and finished work he did for us all on the cross.
John will give you false comfort that the Bible teaches the "Sinning Saint" doctrine, yet he never shows a verse that says any such thing. What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?... Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. A dead faith cannot save. One does not "earn" salvation by works, bit a fruitless faith cannot save either. If one is saved, they will bear much fruit because they are in the Vine (Jesus). (Jn. 15) Even Calvin said, "It is faith alone that justifies, and still the faith which justifies is not alone." Yet according to Calvin and MacArthur, there was no "complete and finished work on the cross for ALL." Did you hit the Lucky Lotto of Fate as MacArthur teaches? Did Jesus die for YOU? How do you know but for the fruit? Works? Victory over sin? Not a fictional victory, but one evident by reality of the work of Christ in your life?
I grew up in the Nazarene church. When I got saved and then was told I needed a second working, I thought, what? Huh? I never understood it. Recently I got into a discussion with my older sister because she believes in this second working/Sanctification. I told her that we are constantly being refined that God is always working on us. Months later she sends me Scripture to prove she is right. I read what she has to say but it still doesn't jive. God's yoke is easy. Some church's/people make it hard. The Nazarene's are a good church and I can worship with them or other churches. But I knew in my heart that when I gave my life to Christ - He began a good work in me.
1. The yoke attached the animal to its master. It was an implement by which the Master directed the animal in its work. 2. God's yoke is easy but that does not free us from having to carry it. 3. His yoke is easy precisely because the Holy Spirit, the Helper, assists us in doing His will

The words COME [to me] and TAKE [my yoke] are both second person plural verbs which mean they are being directed at a NUMBER of PEOPLE (all those who are burdened and weary). These two words are also in the IMPERATIVE MOOD meaning that they are directives telling US what to do. Jesus did not say He would CAUSE His yoke to descend on us as you have suggested. A sermon that explains this secret battle. We no longer have to pretend. The question “who did you think you were?” comes to mind. This is so liberating. And draws me nearer to The Lord. God knows exactly where we are so continue clinging to Him no matter what.
You are either sanctified or you are not. And without being sanctified you don't get to see God. As there are no degrees in justification so there are no degrees in sanctification.
@@removingveils5824 So you are claiming that there is absolute moral perfection (sanctified) and anything short of that is not sanctified and therefore condemned. And by implication you are a morally perfect person. What a Pharisee you would have made. But Christ did not come to save the righteous but sinners. Why then did Jesus even have to die on the cross? I was raised in the Salvation Army and had the same difficulty. My parents said grandparents were officers. I have never been completely convinced of this issue. No Greg, we are not perfected, because we still sin. Jesus forgives our sins when we ask and repent, but as humans with a sin nature, we do still sin, which makes us NOT perfect.

Very interesting - the Church of the Nazarene doctrine on "entire sanctification" or "perfectionism." I didn't know that till I heard that from Pastor John M today, July 6. 2021
We are "righteous" - in right standing with God - through and in Christ alone. But, till my last breath, there will be this battle with sin and temptation which, by and through the Holy Spirit's work of sanctification in/on us, we overcome. In this sense, we are simultaneously righteous (standing with God) and a sinner (as long as we live in this mortal body). As we yield to the work of the Holy Spirit, we continually "outgrow" sin - we sin less and less. We no longer enjoy sin because we are a "new creation" with NEW hearts!
We are ALL sinners, every last one of us, if we follow Christ and put Christ first in our lives then it is Christ and only Christ that blocks the father from seeing us as sinners, because he paid the price for our sins, and thus we belong to him! Thank God for Jesus Christ for without him we cannot be saved from our sins and the eternal death that goes with it!
😢What impeded any maturing in Christ for me was listening to too many teachings. Mostly of Ariminian side with holiness, revivalistic, experiential kind. I had to eventually learn the fact that I am not all that perfect all at once. The depression and neurosis of exaltation on one hand , then come down or hangover effect too much to bear. Kind figure this doesn't work in real Christian devotion. So I had to learn. This is good and the kind of teaching I missed.
I totally agree with (and have always believed) all the similarities and differences between Justification and Sanctification that Pastor JM enumerated. And I am Pentecostal! I have always known these truths, differences and similarities between Justification and Sanctification! Pastors, leaders, youth leaders, teachers of the Word just need to correctly divide the Word as my pastors have/do.
Definition of Sinner: Pronunciation: ham-ar-to-los' Part of Speech: adjective Root Word (Etymology): From ἁμαρτάνω (G264) TDNT Reference: 1:317,51 Outline of Biblical Usage: 1 devoted to sin, a sinner 1 not free from sin 2 pre-eminently sinful, especially wicked 1 all wicked men 2 specifically of men stained with certain definite vices or crimes As the Greek word for sinner states, How can we be a new creation in Christ Jesus, but be wholly devoted to sin, not free from sin, pre-eminently sinful, especially wicked? This is why the Church is a laughing stock.

What has He done? Oh He has made us alive in Christ when we were utterly dead. He called us out of the grave for His glory He has vowed not only to make us fit for heaven but as our Father to walk with us on the journey transforming us into the likeness of Christ. His precious Holy Spirit in us to comfort and counsel .The fruit may be slow to appear but He is so faithful and very skilled at what He does even as we carry round a dead corpse on our back!

At the same time God excludes the vast majority of men from salvation because He has not chosen to save them.
@@JimiSurvivor Not at all. God is not a respecter of persons. Salvation is by man's choice. God offers salvation to all men, but only some choose to follow Him. This is something Mr. MacArthur has not understood.
@@removingveils5824
If you believe Salvation is by man's choice then you are not a Calvinist.

When asked if a person who took the mark of the Beast could still be saved, MacArthur answered "I think so." Well read the scripture and decide for yourself if he was right:
…9 And a third angel followed them, calling out in a loud voice, “If ANYONE worships the beast and its image, and RECEIVES ITS MARK on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he too will drink the wine of God’s anger, poured undiluted into the cup of His wrath. And he will be tormented in fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment RISES FOREVER AND EVER. Day and night there is no rest for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.”…
(Revelation 14:9-11)
@@JimiSurvivor All that proves is that John Macarthur has a greater faith. Biblically, you are correct though. My only rebuttal cones from revelation 14:13 ' then I heard a voice from heaven say " write: blessed are the dead who die in the Lord FROM NOW ON." Yes, says the Spirit, they will rest from their labor for their deeds will follow them.' (emphasis is my own)
With that being said, I do also think that they could be saved. For if they died, in the Lord, at the time of coming of the beast and his mark, then they are blessed.
:Edit: this verse comes to mind to support my view,' He who is in me, is greater than he who is in this world'... That includes the beast, for the Lord that is in me is greater than the lord of this world.

A. You cannot both affirm and deny the same statement without violating the law of non contradiction which is the basis for all rational thought. The scripture I cited is unequivocal and leaves absolutely no room for any doubt that under those circumstances the consequences listed will most certainly take place.
B, Here, let us look at it again:
9 And a third angel followed them, calling out in a loud voice, “If ANYONE [including believers or nonbelievers] worships the beast and its image, and receives its mark on his forehead or on his hand,
10 he too WILL DRINK [not MIGHT DRINK] the wine of God’s anger, poured undiluted into the cup of His wrath. And he WILL BE [not "MIGHT BE"] tormented in fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.
11 And the smoke of their torment rises [not MIGHT rise] forever and ever. Day and night there is no rest [not there MIGHT POSSIBLY BE no rest] for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone [not SOME PEOPLE] who receives the mark of its name.”
(Revelation 14:9-11)
C. "With that being said, I do also think that they could be saved. For if they died, in the Lord, at the time of coming of the beast and his mark, then they are blessed."
Not if they receive the mark and worship him. The ones who will be "saved in death" are mentioned in the next few verses:
12 Here is a call for the PERSEVERENCE of the saints who KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS of God and the FAITH of Jesus.
(Revelation 14:9-11)
Those who worship the beast and receive the mark just to get groceries will NOT have PERSEVERED. Their faith will have failed. Only those who continue to BELIEVE and OBEY Jesus and His gospel will be BLESSED when they die:
D. The ones who are blessed in death are those who remain in the Lord, not the ones who leave that position to serve the Antichrist
13 And I heard a voice from heaven telling me to write, “Blessed are the dead-those who die IN THE LORD from this moment on.”
(Revelation 14:13)
E. "Edit: this verse comes to mind to support my view,' He who is in me, is greater than he who is in this world'... That includes the beast, for the Lord that is in me is greater than the lord of this world."
But if we COMPROMISE our faith and serve the world, the flesh and the Devil we will no longer have access to the Spirit's overcoming power but we will be like Samson who compromised and awoke to find that the Spirit had departed from him.

Dead to Sin, Alive to God
Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2 May it never be! How can we who died to sin still live in it?
Rom 6:3 Or do you not know that all of us who were immersed into Messiah Yeshua were immersed into His death?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we were buried together with Him through immersion into death-in order that just as Messiah was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5 For if we have become joined together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also will be joined together in His resurrection-
Rom 6:6 knowing our old man was crucified with Him so that the sinful body might be done away with, so we no longer serve sin.
Slaves to Righteousness
Rom 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be!
Rom 6:16 Do you not know that to whatever you yield yourselves as slaves for obedience, you are slaves to what you obey-whether to sin resulting in death, or to obedience resulting in righteousness?
Rom 6:17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching under which you were placed;
Rom 6:18 and after you were set free from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.

@@jeffpaton9667 so the day you were saved is the day you stopped sinning?
My experience, whatever it may be, is secondary at best to Scripture.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
Forgive others so you may be forgiven.

Peter was a mature, born again leader in the church. Yet, he committed the sin of hypocrisy and led others astray in his sin.
Galatians 2: 11-13
But when Peter came to Antioch, *I had to oppose him to his face, for what he did was very wrong.* 12 When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised.
Never stop fighting sin. Jesus died for you. He loves you SO much!
Our only RIGHTEOUSNESS IS CHRIST ALONE! The Holy Spirit sanctifies us, makes us more like Jesus in thought, word and deed. It's a work of progress. I am a work in progress!
Exactly
@Drake Joseph I reminded when I see you ridiculous comments everywhere on here that God keeps the wheat with the tares but eventually he will separate the two. Thankful for that
"Our only RIGHTOUSNESS is CHRIST ALONE!" - That is a very profound statement. You are very smart. God bless you.
I adore J Mac! He is the best, most truthful pastor i have come across!. Thanks be to God!
Interpreting scripture with such clarity is a MacArthur hall mark ,A much needed man for such a time as this.

This is so necessary to understand if we want to truly walk in obedience, while at the same time keeping ourselves focused on our Saviour and Lord Jesus...justification and sanctification are key principles that bring us to this deeper understanding...🙏😇

A message that is rarely ever, if ever told, believers often don't know what it is to live and walk in the Spirit.
What dose it mean to live and walk in the Spirit?
@@LuisPerez-fy6up forgiving all that hurt you. Denying yourself. Praying to be Spirit filled so you may be spirit led.
When we TRULY die to self, we have the privilege of experiencing the divine life within us
@@ShepherdMinistry I agree with you ..very well answered
@@LuisPerez-fy6up well what dose the that passage say?
Galatians 5: 16-23
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
Praise the Lord for godly preaching like this!
Amen!!

I've been to every Church from Catholic churches the Nazarene the Methodist to Pentecostal he's right. I grew up in Baptist Churches which I loved. +Keith Thompson Sinners will end up in hell sinner, repent or perish

@@KeithThompson52 you took that out of context, "If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." (1 John 1:10, ESV)
To deny you are a sinner, at anytime even after your salvation makes you a liar, because you were indeed once a sinner. You are indeed bought by his blood, but you still have to live according to his law, when you accept him as Lord it is no longer your life, but Christ in you. Which it is important to know the severity of sin or else you find yourself living like the worst kind of person Christ despised, a Hypocrite.
This is truly incredible ❤️
Thank you lord for helping me to understand the truth.
@@duriuswulkins4324
Yes God forgives us WHEN WE REPENT. In verses 3-5 of Psalm 32 David at first resists conviction then surrenders, repents and confesses his sin. Then he is forgiven
@@JimiSurvivor Well, David is called “a man after God’s own heart” in 1 Samuel 13; while Saul was still reigning in Jerusalem, and David is still very young. God knew He had created David after His own heart even before David had repented for the sins of his youth.
@@duriuswulkins4324
David became a "man after God's heart" when he was a young man tending the sheep. He had a faith in God and purity of motive borne of the victories he had experienced in the field by God's hand. This is how David said his faith had become strong. Neither he nor God said David was born strong.
37 David added, “The LORD, who delivered me from the claws of the lion and the bear, will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.”
(1 Samuel 17:37)
(Jn. 15)
Even Calvin said, "It is faith alone that justifies, and still the faith which justifies is not alone." Yet according to Calvin and MacArthur, there was no "complete and finished work on the cross for ALL." Did you hit the Lucky Lotto of Fate as MacArthur teaches?

He was telling people if they wanted peace THEY would have to come to Him and take His yoke on themselves. There is nothing warped or illogical here. This is simply what the words mean.

Excellent discourse - both challenging and encouraging.
For God so loved the world 🌎❤that
He gave his only begotten Son so that Whosoever should believe on Him should not perish but Have everlasting life.
Let's save the world 🌎together. Pray
And the truth will set You free, thank you for sharing the truth, i realise we became so humanistic in the gospel that we forgot who is Lord🙏
Really like this man's preaching. 👍
Is he still with us or has he gone to his permanent home with the Lord.?
God I LONG to be set free from this temporary house..... I'm a dead woman walking. PRAISE GOD!
Dead to the things of this world but alive to Christ!!!!! 🎯❤️🙏🇺🇸🦅
John is still serving as a pastor of Grace Community Church LA, this is his 53rd year of ministry.
So powerful. You just explained my whole existence "Perfectionism" raised in Nazarene Church.
You're either living for God or the devil. What a false headline. The guy is a man of Satan.
Agreed. I hate my own sin. And I work out my own struggle in fear and honor to My God. Awareness. And Always suffer the consequences of my sin. I know to not hurt myself and Give All Glory to Him. He gets All of the Glory. His Glory in his image. Not perfect. My over exaggerating is ego and prideful. I repent Lord. And he knows. Amen. Forgive me Lord.
Thank God and praise God for sound teaching and sound doctrine.
Very interesting - the Church of the Nazarene doctrine on "entire sanctification" or "perfectionism." I didn't know that till I heard that from Pastor John M today, July 6. 2021
Best explanation of justification n sanctification
We are "righteous" - in right standing with God - through and in Christ alone. But, till my last breath, there will be this battle with sin and temptation which, by and through the Holy Spirit's work of sanctification in/on us, we overcome. In this sense, we are simultaneously righteous (standing with God) and a sinner (as long as we live in this mortal body). As we yield to the work of the Holy Spirit, we continually "outgrow" sin - we sin less and less. We no longer enjoy sin because we are a "new creation" with NEW hearts!
Yes!
Amen Ofilia

We are ALL sinners, every last one of us, if we follow Christ and put Christ first in our lives then it is Christ and only Christ that blocks the father from seeing us as sinners, because he paid the price for our sins, and thus we belong to him! Thank God for Jesus Christ for without him we cannot be saved from our sins and the eternal death that goes with it!
I would absolutely hate to be the guy who put a thumbs down on this message!
I hate you if you defend Calvinism! Get rid of Calvinism as soon as possible if you are a calvinist and stop promoting false doctrines!
Empty drums make the most noise.
HDTV Guys Use your conscience and stop searing your conscience!
No kidding this is yet again another fantastic message!
Fantastic message? Who?
Your whole loony fake religion is totally oppositional to this teaching. What a liar fake cult promoter
Definition of Sinner:
Pronunciation: ham-ar-to-los'
Part of Speech: adjective
Root Word (Etymology): From ἁμαρτάνω (G264)
TDNT Reference: 1:317,51
Outline of Biblical Usage:
1 devoted to sin, a sinner
1 not free from sin
2 pre-eminently sinful, especially wicked
1 all wicked men
2 specifically of men stained with certain definite vices or crimes
As the Greek word for sinner states, How can we be a new creation in Christ Jesus, but be wholly devoted to sin, not free from sin, pre-eminently sinful, especially wicked? This is why the Church is a laughing stock.
@@gadarperets3022 yea lets all listen to gadar perets, and not the bible. The latter which is the living breathing Word of God
