Great video on the yellow Anglia respray..Iam in my 70's,& used to be a car mechanic in the 60's& 70's,I did have the same car, same colour & did have it resprayed by the garage where I worked, by the paint sprayer / body man. Am. Great & brings back so many memories, thanks .keep up the good work,👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Very cool! mate and thanks for watching , was my first ever anglia job myself but came out awesome i think love to give older cars like this a new lease of life
Only just found your channel Tony, taking your time to fully explain details. So refreshing and helpful. I tried to buy a 1960 Ford Anglia 105E just out of my price range then in 1963.
@@TonysRefinishingTV My body work days are over (carpal tunnel) I once hammer welded a piece I cut from straight stock to a 70 elcamino ff, surprised the caca out of me that it turned out so well . Cheers!
Great job mate used to do loads of these back in the day !! ICI Permobel Synthetic Enamel and Ault and Wiborg Celly !! Think learning the job 30+ years ago and the progression of paint etc has made me the painter I am now ! 37 years down the line and I still love going to work
+retrorestore thanks fella and yes very clean car for it's age and awesome to get to tidy up too , been watching a few hits you've posted up jimmys done great job on that Capri mate credit to him
yet again another great video Tony, remember the ford anglia from my child hood days great little car and has you said that one looks in mint condition cant wait to see the finished car big thumbs up mate.
+Stuart Smalley thanks Stuart , and yes mate even when this came in to us it was mint tbh but a little tlc and this is now a stunning car , thanks for watching fella
Thanks , whats your name ? , great to have guys on here like yourself that watch regularly and give feedback , helps me to know how things are going and how to improve aswell as how the improvements are going , thanks again for watching fella
Thanks for the new vid Tony - liking the extra time and detail very much! I'm all inspired to get on with m' next piano frame, but it's at least five weeks away yet...!!!
A real trip down memory lane for me.. Do you get any aged cars which are not concourse where the rust worm has been nibbling? Maybe I haven't scrolled through enough of your vids yet... As always a pleasure to watch. When these came out the Anglia vans had crossply tyres that made them very easy to "drift". Of course I never drifted up the up ramp to the A40 in West London.
Yes mate it’s just not often I get the time to film on those as the works so involved tbh but I do have some work coming up on one soon I’ve got some videos planned for
Hi Tony. I love your videos. Ford Anglia definitely ticks one of my boxes, a car from my era. Just a quick note. Why is it that the Americans seem to have the monopoly on body working tools and papers? It took me ages to find a UK supplier for Dura Blocks and they were ridiculously expensive and finding sticky backed sanding paper is a nightmare. Every thing on eBay points to the USA.
unfortunately your bang on with that comment tbh, we are behing on the times with alot of things and alot is harder to get here than abroad i think amerca just has a larger market especially with 3m and the big firms so things start there and then eventually get to us if your struggling for long papers and rolls try these guys www.globalfinish.com/
hi paul for small break throughs like we had here i wouldnt but anything bigger than what we had here i would use etch, if it was a full bare metal panel then i would epoxy rather than use etch but thats personal preference
Another great video Tony. Quick question how do you find the KAPCI primer to flat down i.e. does it clog up the rubbing paper like some of the primers on the market?
Its not too bad if im honest but can be quite stodgy in the tin and needs a really good stir to get it smooth before mixing , ive just tried some from jawel paints there own brand one , real cheap but sands lovely and is also smooth as cream from the tin , going to give that some trials next
yeah know what you mean. I have been using PPG Koba D838 and need a cement mixer to stir it up but with any paints you have to put in the bench time to get the right results as you know. Let us know how you get on with other primer when you try it out
+Jack Peters if the whole car needed it then I'd use the spray filler and then block out that way but the lows in this car were so subtle that there was need to add such a large build of material to the car just for the sake of blocking out those areas , I do have a job in currently that il be doing a full hit with polyester spray filler as that's in real Need of a decent solid blocking
enjoyed the vid but noticed you left a probable dry edge on the roof due to starting from each side and working in to the middle. I usually start one edge, work to the middle then walk around and finish from the middle to the opposite side. I guess its only primer though but thought it might make some extra work? Ill subscribe, it looks like you have some great vids, I spray and restore older cars(sprayed diesel locomotives for 4 years too) and watched alot of the Gunmans vids too. Between you both, theres some awesome content! 👌
hey man welcome to the channel and thanks for popping over and subscribing hope your enjoying the videos so far, as for the roof yes your right but this job is being fully blocked out by hand top to bottom so its not something that was an issue really or something i was worrying about when i was priming it , my main focus was build for the blocking stage really

Thank you for the reply Tony. Keep up the good work.
if you break though to bare metal would you use an acid etch or epoxy primer?

Love the resto videos Tony! I was just wondering why you didn't use some of that spray filler to level everything out?
+Jack Peters if the whole car needed it then I'd use the spray filler and then block out that way but the lows in this car were so subtle that there was need to add such a large build of material to the car just for the sake of blocking out those areas , I do have a job in currently that il be doing a full hit with polyester spray filler as that's in real

Another great video Tony.
Do you clean the spray gun in any way between coats, or just leave all the unused paint in the cup, fluid nozzle, etc?
not usually unless during the painting the air cap starts to get build up on it then il give that a quick rinse between coats
Have you used a polyester spray filler type high build before?
+Evie Lees yes I've used the polyester spray fillers before but it's not something I use often if I'm honest
that block is flexi???
Good job
+Slackerz Sincity thanks
the gunman bought me here 😊
