Morris Day and the Time was created by Prince. He wrote the lyrics, the music and played all the instruments for The Time. The band was put together before the 1999 tour which was headlined by Prince which was his album title. Vanity 6 opened...Prince created them, their music and look as well. Prince used a pseudo name for all the music he produced and wrote for other artists at that time. He used Alexander Nevermind, Joey Coco, Jamie Starr and more. He was like no other.💜

I was in the music industry when Morris Day & The Time dropped their first Radio-Air-Play track... And in the early 80's, an All female singers / dancers also were on the tour... The were called 'Vanity 6', they opened the show, Morris Day & The Time came on Second, and Prince was the Headliner, in St. Louis, Missouri... The Radio Station also had Ticket-Give-Aways to the Concert, The Station also sponsored an Autograph-Signing-Promotion, at the Record Store, you buy the album, they signed their autograph, and hung-out after the signing was finished, the fans Loved that. The Tour was called: The 1999 Tour, because Prince had Many Many Hits on The 1999 Album, which was released in the early 80's....Morris Day & The Time currently still tour, he's doing his thing, Jerome ( the guy that holds up the Mirror for Morris in this video and dances with Morris, is still in the current band with Morris... I looked at some of the comments and I didn't see a few cuts you probably would like: 777-9311, The Walk, Cool, and for a slower track where you can really hear Morris Day's voice, I would suggest the song 'Gigolos-Get- lonely-too' might be printed as just 'Gigolos'... Morris was the Drummer originally, and Prince wanted him as the 'Front Man' IF I'm not mistaken, The Legendary 'Jellybean Johnson ' played drums and wrote the 'hit' 777-9311... Fun reaction guys 💜 brought back happy memories, I'm extremely excited Youngsters are experiencing for-the-first-time, Old School Music 🥰 Please keep up the good work 💪 I don't typically comment, however, I've been subscribed since practically your whole adventure reacting. ✌️💜

'Here' if one clicks-the-link, and watches the twins reaction... @@juliemcdaniel499 Prince pretty much wrote and recorded all of the Time’s music, with perhaps a few exceptions when some others in the band had some input. His vocals would then be replaced by Morris’s. You can hear Prince’s version on the album called Originals released in 2019.

One of the many creations by Prince, along with Vanity 6/Appolonia 6, Madhouse, The Family (who originally performed Nothing Compares To You) and more. They are, however, one the baddest groups EVER on their own!!! Yes, Jungle Love and The Bird are two of their most well-known joints, but there was no TH-cam for My Drawers, Ice Cream Castles, 777-9311, The Walk or Gigolos Get Lonely Too.
The moves they do while playing or singing are also Prince-inspired. He told them, you can't just play your instruments, you got to move with it. It's like the Temptations as a full-on band.

This was the very first album I ever bought with my own money, when I was 11. (The lyrics were NOT appropriate for an 11-yo.) I played the record constantly.
Morris Day is still touring and still does that bit with Jerome holding up the mirror for him to check his hair. It was the highlight of my life seeing him do this song a few years ago live.

Morris and Prince were friends growing up. At the Grammy’s salute to Prince The Time did this song, and the front row spontaneously started dancing like Morris Day. It was fabulous. This song is iconic. As for “jungle fever” check out The Time’s song “Blondie.” Just sayin…. It might be, it might not.
