I first watched The Heavenly Kid with my dad too & he has also since passed away. I love this movie & I'm so glad that my dad introduced me to it. May both of our dads rest in peace. ♥🙏🏼

Just watched this last night after 30 years of looking for this movie.

I love this movie! Just Watched it again tonight. My wife and I rented it when it came out. So when I found it on DVD many years ago I had to have it in my collection. I know its just a simple story that some wouldn't give a second glance to today. But I just turned 62 and it is special to me. Great story with great acting by all. It has a "magical" appeal I think.. because all of us compare our dreams to where we eventually end up in life....And...where we're headed after...and the price that our actions may have on this . So many souls who's lives are cut short and never get to live "full" lives. This film I think captures that heartache and that joy so beautifully.

I was only 7 years old sir. And yes time sure does fly by. I’m 45 years old now. Married with an 18 year old daughter and it seems like yesterday I walked her out to her first bus ride to school and balled my eyes out crying. Where does the time go. Cherish the ones that we love and hold them near and dear. God bless you sir.

youre 62, i just turned 49 and i loved this film when it came out. of course i was the target audience, i was like 13? at the time and it has always been a favorite of mine. i always tell people its weird because i have a lot of nostalgia for the 8s because thats the decade i grew up in and so this movie is nostalgic for me. BUT i also have a weird nostalgia for the 50s and 60s because i also grew up in a time period where there was a ton of these 50s'/60s nostalgia films out as well of tv shows like "Happy Days" and Lavern And Shirley". so its like i have childhood nostalgia for two different generations. and even today 80s music and 50s 60s music have always been my favorite. the basic straight forward rock and roll and R&B of the first wave rock and roll explosion, and then the futuristic synthy sounding new wave bands of the late 70s early 80s.
@@newwavepop I know what you mean exactly! I grew up on all of the mainstream TV stuff, from Bonanza the Walton's (which growing up poor on a small farm hit real close to home. And then all though the decades of stuff. Gilligan's island, Beverly Hillbilly's, Hawaii Five O and on and on...to...”Justified” Sooo much entertainment. Makes me tired thinking about it. But every minute of it influenced and shaped my life in some way. ”Movies...
Soooo many titles. First movie that really hit me was “Shane with Alan Ladd. Still love that film, way ahead of its time. I was a big Stephen King fan, The Stand, The Mist ,Storm Of the Century, The TV version of The Shining, Salem's Lot, The original IT is a “Masterpiece”! I haven't followed him lately. Too mush else to follow I suppose. Its amazing that my brain can retain all of this info. Some does get pushed to the back, and I have to look up actors names now and then. That's why the internet is so useful to help us revisit these times and moments.
Music as you mentioned has also been driving force in my life. I started with 8 tracks of deep purple and Black Sabbath. Then all the way to John Denver, and Molly Hatchet, Pink Floyd. And being Canadian all of our bands BTO, Rush, Tragically Hip.. then back down to the US with Aerosmith, Kiss...on and on. And today my ear is for Alternative Rock stuff. A lot from Poland, some Classical and Soundtrack stuff. (Oh and lets not forget Tools new Album) My mp3 wont hold it all. My head cant hold it all.. although I do pretty good. My wife and I see who can remember an actors name first.
What we See, Hear, Touch and Feel in life, moulds our character as humans. There were a lot of “good” influences all through my life, and I am grateful to the countless entertainers that made that possible.
