How to Style Shoes in Winter

- Hi everyone!
Today I’m talking about the most common shoes for Winter and how I like to style them.
We tend to neglect the footwear in our everyday styling, but shoes often can make or break the outfit.
If you struggle with styling your Winter clothes, and more specifically Winter shoes, I have a few ideas for you.
Remember this is just my opinion and aesthetic I prefer in my outfits.
One thing I learnt from my daughter who loves experimenting with her clothes is “don’t let any rules to limit you and your creativity”. After all, the most important thing about the outfit is how it makes YOU feel.
For the reference I’m 170cm (5’6”) tall and usually wear a size 36/10 unless I’m wearing mens clothes which are either my husbands (size XL) or thrifted in random sizes.

I love all those boots, but for me those are fall and spring boots. It is too snowy and cold here in Canada for anything but big -40 degrees Celsius type boots. I am so looking forward to wearing these types of things in a few months. I hope you get more followers, you are really great!

Great video! It depends on my mood. In winter I love doc martens or pointed ankle boots, in the rest of the year I wear converse (white, black or red), ballet flats or strappy sandals.
You cannot go wrong with a thick and sturdy sole from the Docs ⚡️

You said you bought the Converse a half size smaller. Does this also apply to fleece lining? I would like to get a winter version with a warm lining and am still unsure about the size.

Best of luck🥰 regarding the converse with fleece. I honestly don’t know. Mine is without, but I want to get them for my daughters and maybe I would advise to go half a size up to allow for the fluff😊 but this is just my opinion. Sometimes some websites have a good size chart that includes such details.
That's a good idea! Yes, the process will take a while, but this way everything can turn out well and you don't feel strange in your own clothes. 😂I'm just getting brave and have integrated a skirt that has been waiting in the closet for a long time to be used. But as you say, it enables completely new silhouettes. 😍Before I was missing a jacket or coat that would go with it, but now everything is slowly starting to form a harmonious overall picture. Thank you for showcasing the various boots& shoes w/ their respective bottom (skirt, or pants) silhouette. I do have a question, though. We often make sure the pants hit at just the right length on the boot, but what about when we sit? Surely the pants leg will rise above the boot & not look elegant, chic or cool. If I may ask, how do we avoid this?
Hello Maria and thank you for your comment. Thats a very interesting question. I often get inspiration from mens fashion and styling rules and I read a lot of books and blogs on the subject. They always say that when you sit down your calf shouldn’t show (that’s why mens socks are usually very long), so I would just wear a longer sock in a colour of the trousers or shoes. But I would only follow this rule in a more conservative environment, especially office. Otherwise I’m more relaxed with my outfits. I hope that helps😊

thanks for this video! I always have a problem styling my black shoes with black bottoms...some how they always look bottom heavy on me. any advice?
Hello Dear. Thank you for your question. I think it all depends on the style of trousers. If it’s a cropped pair (I advise more loose) I would go for something slim on your ankle and slightly more chunky at the bottom (like chelsea boots, combat boots or a heeled ankle boots). The key here is to showcase your slim ankles. If however you want to wear your wide leg trousers that hit the floor you need go for a slimmer shoe and I would personally wear a black sneakers or more delicate heeled boots, ideally with pointed toe and leather not suede because they look heavier. Absolutely avoid chunky sole boots, because that’s what makes you look bottom heavy. I hope that makes sense, its a bit hard to explain in a short message😊 Regards!
